Chapter 442 She Was in a Trap the Whole Time
As soon as the taxi stopped, Xu Youning rushed into the hospital at the speed of light. She didn’t even have time for the change.
The elevator stopped. Just outside, there were a couple of nurses who had gathered in front of her grandma’s ward. They were excited and poked their heads into the ward, looking thrilled.
“He’s so hot!” The youngest nurse pulled the sleeve of her colleague excitedly. “Do you think he’s the boyfriend of Granny Xu’s niece?”
“I have no idea, but I hope not!” Another nurse said, “That way we still have a chance!”
Xu Youning strode over and said, “Excuse me.”
“… Miss Xu.” The nurses were stunned for a moment before they came to their senses. Then, they quickly made way for her.
Xu Youning looked into the ward. Not only Mu Sijue, Ah Guang and w.a.n.g Yi were also there.
w.a.n.g Yi stood upright in front of her grandmother’s bed; his head was wrapped in gauze and he looked sorry.
Rage began to rise from the bottom of Xu Youning’s heart. She turned to the nurses and said, “I you that except for Auntie Sun and I, no other people were allowed to enter my grandmother’s ward. Why did you let them in? Are you sure they weren’t gonna hurt my granny?”
“Well…” the nurse said with a mellow tone, “Mr. Mu was brought here by our director.”
“…” Xu Youning was speechless.
Yeah, so what if she had already told the nurses? Who had the nerves to stop Mu Sijue in City G?
Xu Youning stopped making things more difficult for the nurses and walked into the ward.
Mu Sijue immediately noticed Xu Youning and handed her a doc.u.ment with a natural gesture. “Sign your name.”
Xu Youning looked at it. It was an application for a hospital transfer. Mu Sijue wanted to send her grandmother to a private doctor. The attending doctor had already signed it. The application would be effective as soon as she, the only family member, signed.
She ignored it and returned the application back to Mu Sijue. She walked to grandma’s bed and asked, “Grandma, how are you feeling today?”
“I’m much better.” Granny Xu smiled and patted Xu Youning’s hand. “Tell Mr. Mu that I’m fine here, I don’t need to go to a private hospital. It’s expensive. I can claim my insurance if I stay here.”
Xu Youning arranged her quilt and said, “Okay, I’ll tell him.”
“Also, I already know the ins and outs of the matter,” Granny Xu added, “It was just the young man’s little joke and I am safe and sound, so don’t be mad okay? Let it go.”
“…” A joke? Let it go?
Xu Youning was confused for a moment before she sorted out the reason her grandmother had said that. She gritted her teeth and looked at Mu Sijue with a smile. “We will discuss the transferring outside, shall we?”
She didn’t stop until she took Mu Sijue to the end of the corridor. Then, she burst out.
“Mu Sijue, who gave you the right to make the decision without consulting me?” Xu Youning wanted to jump on Mu Sijue and bite his neck hard. “I can let things pa.s.s with the transferring, but a joke? You referred to what Yang Shanshan asked w.a.n.g Yi to do as a joke? What kind of person makes cruel jokes like this?”
“If I didn’t tell her it was a joke, how would you explain it to your grandmother?” Mu Sijue asked coldly, “that you’re in trouble with people outside?”
“It’s my business to explain!” Xu Youning went crazy. “It’s none of your business. Get your b.u.t.t out of it. Understand?”
Mu Sijue’s eyes darkened coldly, and the two confronted each other silently.
G.o.d knows how long it had been. Mu Sijue said faintly, “If it’s Shanshan’s business, I can’t stay out of it.”
“… Ha.” Xu Youning’s laughter was full of sarcasm. She looked at Mu Sijue in a strange way and said nothing.
As expected, he did it for Yang Shanshan.
“He had better protect Yang Shanshan for the rest of her life and don’t let her see any chances of revenge!”
“Also, your grandmother will be well taken care of and recover faster if you transfer her to a private hospital,” Mu Sijue made an announcement as if it were an order, “I have made the call to transfer her to another hospital.”
Xu Youning stared at Mu Sijue coldly. “I don’t believe that you’re doing this for my grandmother’s own good.”
Mu Sijue paused for a moment, and his answer did not fail her expectation. “I just want to apologize to her. Even if you don’t sign the consent, she will be transferred today for sure.”
After that, Mu Sijue turned back to the ward.
Xu Youning shouted at his back, “Mu Sijue, you are an a.s.shole!”
Mu Sijue ignored her. When Ah Guang came out, he saw Xu Youning’s exasperated look. He went over and gave Xu Youning a thumbs-up with a smile.
Xu Youning hit Ah Guang’s hand angrily. “What do you mean?”
“Just saying, you’re admirable,” Ah Guang said, “You should know that, there ain’t many people who dare to swear to Seventh Brother in the whole world. They can be counted with my two hands. Even Mr. Yeung and my dad wouldn’t dare to curse at Seventh Brother easily.”
Xu Youning pulled up the corner of her mouth and wanted to laugh, but her smile suddenly froze.
She couldn’t believe that she actually forgot such an important thing—Mu Sijue had once suspected that Ah Guang was the person undercover. But Ah Guang was his uncle’s son.
At that time, Mu Sijue asked her to go to the Mu family’s old mansion to then investigate whether Ah Guang was a mole sent by Kang Ruicheng.
Later, she didn’t let Ah Guang become her scapegoat, so the investigation of undercover was finished.
At that time, she took the investigation seriously and looked into Ah Guang’s family background, but she didn’t find out the relations.h.i.+p between Ah Guang’s father and the Mu family. Also, Mu Sijue didn’t tell her any of that in advance.
That could only explain one thing: The so-called background of Ah Guang that she found was all fake.
Then, she told Mu Sijue the fake information she had found, and Mu Sijue still didn’t say anything.
After thinking about it, that was all wrong. Since there was such a deep relations.h.i.+p between the Mu family and Ah Guang’s family, Mu Sijue shouldn’t have suspected Ah Guang at all, let alone ask her to investigate him.
Her intuition indicated that the reason that Mu Sijue had asked her to investigate Ah Guang was not to confirm whether Ah Guang was an undercover or not.
The veil of a cruel truth was gradually uncovered. Xu Youning’s heart beat faster. “Ah Guang, why have I never heard you mention the relations.h.i.+p between your father and Mu Sijue?”
Ah Guang sighed and leaned on the rail next to the window. “Before I followed Seventh Brother, I was quite rebellious, because I was annoyed that my father always said that I wasn’t as good as Seventh Brother. You know? My family compared me with Seventh Brother from head to toe. And they came to the conclusion that Seventh Brother was better than me on every single aspect. That’s why I didn’t like Seventh Brother and I denied my family ties to everyone.”
“What happened then?” Xu Youning asked.
“Then, I got into trouble. It was kind of huge that my father was so angry that he went to the hospital because of it. It was Seventh Brother who helped me handle it. Before that, I wasn’t that close with him. But that time, I knew that my father was telling the truth. He is really powerful. He is calm and intimidating when negotiating. He reacts quick and dead on when he works. He had been immersed in the atmosphere of gangsters and dirty businesses, but somehow he released this vibe that suggested that he was a wise man with integrity.” At that point, Ah Guang smiled, seemed shy. “After that, I decided to work for him for the rest of my life.”
After a pause, Ah Guang continued, “From the very beginning, Seventh Brother took me with him everywhere, with no hard feelings due to my hatred and disdain for him from before at all. Of course, there were criticisms. But maybe it was the influence of Seventh Brother, I didn’t deal with those criticisms with violence and certainly, I didn’t mention my father at all. I just did my work and convinced them with my strength!”
“After that, those guys called me Brother Guang. Seventh Brother said that he had made a fake ident.i.ty for me for safety reasons, so that it would be impossible to find out my real background with a little investigation. I listened to him. And over time, I forgot the relations.h.i.+p between my father and the Mu family, so I didn’t tell you.”
Xu Youning could almost confirm what was going on. She nodded and said, “No wonder Seventh Brother believes in you so much.”
Ah Guang smiled and said, “Of course. It seems like I work under him. But in fact, we are brothers.” As he said this, he suddenly noticed Xu Youning’s strange expression. He asked curiously, “Sister Youning, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Xu Youning tugged at the corner of her lips. “Ah Guang, you’re very lucky.”
Ah Guang’s smile was even brighter.
Xu Youning added, “Go back. I need to think about my grandmother’s transferring.”
After Ah Guang left, Xu Youning turned around and looked at the small garden of the hospital. The smile on her lips gradually became bitter.
When Mu Sijue asked her to investigate Ah Guang, she felt that something was wrong. She finally knew why.
Judging from the relations.h.i.+p between Ah Guang’s father and the Mu family, why would Mu Sijue suspect Ah Guang?
It was her that Mu Sijue was suspecting. He was sure that Ah Guang was innocent so he asked her to investigate him. If she took Ah Guang as a scapegoat, he would have been sure that she was the one undercover.
Or perhaps, he had already confirmed that she had been undercover way before?
She had to give it to him, that move was brilliant. She didn’t notice a thing.
On the way back to the ward, Xu Youning kept thinking whether Mu Sijue knew if she was the undercover person.
If he knew, why didn’t he do anything?
If he wasn’t sure, there were still many things left to be explained. Like before, Mu Sijue would very likely use her to give Kang Ruicheng a fake message about his offer, to then kick his a.s.s when he thought that he was winning.
Also, based on Mu Sijue’s personality, he never abandoned his people.
But when she was kidnapped by Kang Ruicheng, Mu Sijue didn’t only ignore her, but he also treated her like an item instead of a human-being. She was devastated.
After thinking about it, the only reasonable explanation was that Mu Sijue had known that Kang Ruicheng would not hurt her.
Ha, she always thought she had lied to Mu Sijue, hurting Lu Boyan and Su Jianan in the process. She woke up from nightmares countless times, and her guilt had been piling up day by day.
After figuring that out, she was in fact the one who had been trapped.
“What is his plan?”
That morning, Ah Guang’s father suddenly appeared in the Mu family estate, letting her know the relations.h.i.+p between Ah Guang and the Mu family. Mu Sijue should have known what she would glean from that.
Did it mean that his revenge plan had started?
Mu Sijue couldn’t use her to give fake information to Kang Ruicheng after that. And according to Mu Sijue’s style, she was dead meat.
“Youning, what’s wrong with you?” Grandma suddenly said, interrupting Xu Youning’s thoughts. “Well, I promised to transfer to another hospital. Isn’t that enough?”
“Ah?” Xu Youning was confused, “Grandma, what…?”
“Mr. Mu said that you’ll be more a.s.sured if I am transferred to a private hospital.” Grandma smiled. “You are very tired from work every day. And you will be exhausted if you keep running back and forth to take care of me. I will have personal nurses and a nutritionist in that hospital, so don’t be worried.”
Xu Youning glanced at Mu Sijue. Without guessing, she knew that he said something to her grandma. Not saying another word, she took the pen and signed the transfer consent.
In order not to arouse Mu Sijue’s suspicion, she would do whatever he said.
She didn’t care what Mu Sijue wanted to do to her, but for her grandmother’s sake, she had to improvise so that she could stay alive.
