Chapter I (Part 1) Difficult journey
Fruit lifted a large bluestone which weighed at least more than 2000 lb. He supported the stone on his head while his chest was trembling slightly and his windmill like big ears dangling against the bluestone. As soon as he picked up the bluestone, half of his body immediately went into quicksand. Countless ants and centipedes fell from the bottom of the bluestone and landed on his small head. Fruit immediately panicked and seemed confused as to what to do.
He turned his head toward Liu Zhenhan and mischievously squeezed his nose inward. He stuck a small pink tongue out while his face was covered in beads of sweat falling quietly. They appeared particularly dazzling like tiny crystals.
Hailun and Liu Zhenhan were dumbstruck watching the tiny stature of Fruit that was half-stuck in the ground. Fruit was trying to come out of the ground slowly but was stuck in the original position and couldn’t move.
“f.u.c.k!” Liu Zhenhan immediately rushed over, shoved the bluestone with one hand and threw it off far away from there. He had no time to consider why and how he had suddenly become so mighty. He only felt a strange hot sensation in his arm as if his entire arm was surging with raw power. He lifted that large bluestone with one hand as if he was lifting a donut and then threw it high into the sky. It soared really high in the sky and then fell down like a meteor, smas.h.i.+ng several bamboo shoots in one fell swoop.
Hailun was standing right where she was earlier. She hadn’t moved at all, just covered her mouth with her delicate slender hand in reaction. Of course, there was an unbelievable look in her eyes.
“Fruit!” Liu Zhenhan grabbed Fruit’s rabbit ears and pulled him out. Right now, there was a proud aristocratic expression on Fruit’s face as if he had accomplished something incredible and deserved extraordinary praise from Liu Zhenhan. Fortunately, he wasn’t bitten by any of the bugs crawling on his head.
“Little punk, you scared me to death!” Liu Zhenhan tightly hugged Fruit in his bosom.
“Holy Campas!” Hailun looked at the bamboo shoots crushed by the bluestone and exclaimed: “This is really the power of curse!”
Liu Zhenhan also looked at that huge bluestone and suddenly realized the reality of the situation, leaving him a bit stunned. Although his strength used to be not small in the first place, he was still not arrogant enough to think that he could lift this bluestone, let alone throw it so high with one hand.
He looked down at his hands but did not notice any changes. They were the same as always.
He himself was shocked that his own hands gave birth to this miracle
“The curse of blood memorial has affected you and it is working.” Hailun groaned and said.
“Curse, my a.s.s!” Liu Zhenhan was a little bit agitated, said: “Curse! Curse! Curse! I don’t understand why my own turtle pet would curse me! I never offended her.”
“Let me have a look at you, Li Cha.” Hailun started touching his body all over from top to bottom. Her hands were shaking like her voice, showing no trace of her usual elegance in this moment.
“I am fine! If you are worried about magic rebound, it didn’t happen.” Liu Zhenhan was also a bit worried about it but still forced a smile and said to calm her down.
Hailun threw herself into his arms and kept rubbing her head on his chest while also pounding her fists on his chest: “Don’t you know how much I was worried about you! You pig people always act without thinking.”
“Yes yes! Calm down, my lady.” Liu Zhenhan’s heart was filled with happiness and warmth: “I am indeed a typical pigman, no doubt about it.”
Hailun realized that she went too far and quickly broke out of his arms and turned around, while her red hair brushed his face lightly.
Liu Zhenhan laughed strangely and touched his face as if still immersed in the deep sensations of that hug.
“Why hasn’t a rebound occurred yet? It should have affected a newbie magic user like me or can it be that ‘great strength’ isn’t actually magic?” Liu Zhenhan rubbed his hands together and said: “To be honest, I actually like this.”
“Come pick up this stuff and quickly leave this place.” Hailun looked at the corpse of giant blade turtle with an indescribable feeling in her heart: “We will go back to my hometown and ask my teacher about this issue.”
“Pick up what?” Liu Zhenhan also looked at the giant turtle’s turtle and bitterly spat: “I initially wanted to give this turtle a proper burial, but now like h.e.l.l I am gonna bury its a.s.s!”
“Li Cha! Do not mess with the doctrine! No matter what, she is and will always be your first Yalong pet.” Hailun scolded him.
“Well, in that case, I will first drag the corpse all the way to the cliff then I’ll bury it there.” Liu Zhenhan’s eyes glittered slyly.
Hailun no longer wanted to argue with him now that he had entered this stubborn mischievous mode. Anyway, she was hungry and had been busy for so long, not getting a chance to eat food or drink water. She was on the verge of exhaustion and really needed nutrition as soon as possible.
Liu Zhenhan carried her on his back and effortlessly climbed up the cliff. He felt as if his muscles were exploding with an insane amount of power while his heart was burning like an awakened volcano within his body. He was over-excited and it was being almost impossible for him to control his own muscle strength.
Hailun was actually frightened as she saw and also felt his muscle spasms as he was climbing up the vines.
After delivering her on the cliff, he went down to bury the giant turtle’s corpse. At this time, he was seriously thinking of urinating on the corpse before burying it, after all, what was the worst thing that could happen to him for disrespecting the dead other than getting cursed? Though he dropped the plan later on and did not do anything to the corpse before burying it.
He stuffed the wolf skin, unfinished leather boots and some other tools inside the turtle sh.e.l.l, but not before thoroughly cleaning it with rain water collected in puddles. He also made an accidental discovery and was very excited when he found out that the pearl, he had taken out from the giant turtle’s lower jaw, when cleaned properly exuded a very gentle light, similar to moonlight, cold and clear, not very harsh in ambience but very bright, and actually within a radius of fifteen meters.
He had heard the name of legendary luminous pearl earlier heard but never expected to actually find one. He was happy because this pearl could be used to act as a strong and beautifully fluorescent source of light in the dark nights!
Making good use of his newly obtained super strength, he uprooted a lot of bamboo shoots and tied them together using vines for the ease of carrying them above the cliff in one go, all the while praising himself for being so awesome. Narcissism was his newly found trait that used to be dormant somewhere inside of him but had been stirred by the accursed power.
On the way, he tried his great strength to lift huge boulders.
He noticed that each time he used great strength, a strange sensation of heat spread throughout the muscles which were at work. He felt a strange power surging in his limbs, in fact enough to help him jump his way through the forest like Tarzan.
When he lifted an insanely heavy boulder and put it on his back, he felt as if he was just carrying a school bag. Now he realized how Fruit was able to lift a heavy bluestone without any trouble.
However, there was a huge flaw a.s.sociated with using this supernatural power. Whenever it activated, his young son down there would immediately wake up and enter the battle mode. This was the only thing that was bugging him and making him uncomfortable each time he used ‘great strength’. His only option so far was to deliberately ignore his battle-hungry son. And G.o.d, this kind of flaw couldn’t be called just a flaw.
Liu Zhenhan’s package was in complete uproar all the time.
An obscene laughter resounded throughout the bamboo forest.
(TL Note: With the advent of the new volume, a new arc unfolds as well. The author has set a basic world-building premise in the first two volumes, now the readers will get to actually experience this world in detail. BBB is well known for breaking the norms of otherworld novel genre with a slight touch of reality and lots of twists.
This chapter is 2x normal sized chapters. And translating such a long chapter requires longer time and patience so I request the readers to show patience when such long chapters appear to ambush me.
