Chapter 251 - Ever Victorious
The newcomer was bursting with valiance. He reached out a hand and grabbed a longbow: “I am Chongyun Sect’s Bao Si. I hear that your bow and arrows are powerful, but do you dare to have a match with me?”
Gongyi Tianheng stood with his hands clasped behind his back. He moved a hand forward, and made a guiding gesture: “Please do!”
The instant that his voice fell, the iron-coated great bow appeared once again in his hand. His foot stamped out on top of it.
After the two spoke these words, their speeds became extremely fast. They acted at the same time.
In the blink of an eye, two streaks of bright light burst forth like shooting stars from both ends of the Martial Prowess Platform. The powers contained within them had no comparison. The arrows charged straight towards one another!
The color and l.u.s.ter of Tianheng’s arrow was reddish-gold. It possessed a blazing-hot power, and everywhere that the arrow travelled was scorched. It seemed that even the air was being scalded. The temperature was extremely dreadful.
Meanwhile, Bao Si’s arrow had a golden power that was unyielding and bold. Wherever it pa.s.sed, it produced an ear-piercing sound of the air breaking as if it was cleaving through s.p.a.ce. It was sharp and lithe. What it brought about was a formidable sense of rending.
The two arrows collided in midair, and were deadlocked almost instantly.
Creaking sounds constantly entered one’s ears.
Down below, Gu Zuo could only watch those two b.a.l.l.s of light above. For a short while, they hung in the air. It was almost like they were wearing down and pus.h.i.+ng against each other.
However, the two people didn’t wait for the outcome between the two arrows. Both of their figures flickered. In a flash, they changed positions. Moreover, they reacted as the same time — Streaks of reddish-gold and pure gold powers were launched at the opponent’s location. Once again, the arrows collided in midair and reached a stalemate.
In quick succession, the bodies of Tianheng and that Bao Si continuously s.h.i.+fted. Each time they paused for a bit, arrows would shatter the air. Because their speeds were extremely fast, it didn’t take long for the air to be filled with colliding b.a.l.l.s of light. The lights were exceptionally glaring, and overflowed with power!
Everyone below the stage watched with dazzled eyes.
Some people couldn’t help crying out in surprise:
“This is the strength of a Xiantian stage six martial artist? How scary!”
“If it was me on the platform, perhaps I would’ve lost my life long ago!”
“What formidable powers! The arrow techniques of those two people are very sharp!”
Many people, whose realms were higher than the two on stage, couldn’t help feeling ashamed of their own inferiority. They felt that they were far inferior to those two young talents who were in the middle of attacking each other.
Those newly-arrived elites of Chongyun Sect originally came with a surging momentum. Suddenly, they stagnated in the blink of an eye.
“Junior Sect Brother Bao’s arrow techniques have unexpectedly met a worthy match.”
“With such exquisite skills, it’s no wonder why those low-level disciples had no way to fight back…”
“Qingyun Sect, this kind of weak sect, also has some talented people. Merely, he is only one man. What is he capable of? Junior Sect Brother Bao has encountered countless powerful enemies. He can certainly suppress this guy!”
Gu Zuo kept a steady gaze as he stared fixedly at this big brother of his. Whether it was Qingyun Sect or Chongyun Sect, although the sounds of their discussions were heard in his ears, none of it sank into his heart.
…His big brother had such a leisurely and comfortable stance. It seemed that the other side’s arrow techniques weren’t taken into his eyes.
As a result, his big brother was definitely going to win this match!
The worries at the bottom of Gu Zuo’s heart lessened considerably.
On the contrary, although Xi Yangyun and the crowd of organization leaders also saw that Tianheng still had extra energy, they felt that this new arrival of Chongyun Sect, this talented Bao Si, was a rare genius among geniuses. He certainly still had a last-resort arrow skill. It wasn’t known if Tianheng would be capable of responding to it when it was brought out.
On the Martial Prowess Platform, the two people’s arrow skills had already been launched for several rounds.
Previously, Bao Si had heard that Qingyun Sect had someone whose arrow techniques were powerful. Originally, he thought that he certainly would’ve secured a win when he set out. But he didn’t expect that, after he took action, he would be caught in such a stalemate.
In that moment, his gaze turned heavy. He bent three fingers, and that drawn bowstring also gave a sudden, light vibration.
If the rate of consumption continued like this, then he would also be somewhat strained. It would be better to take advantage of this chance to promptly shoot that guy dead with this exquisite skill!
The edge of Tianheng’s smile deepened.
He only pretended that he didn’t notice anything. Once again, he pulled his bowstring, but he also didn’t make any unusual movements. Only a light had suddenly flashed through his eyes. When he released his arrow, it instead burst forth with three flying arrows in a triangular formation with one on top and two below!
Meanwhile, the arrows that Bao Si launched was a string of two arrows.
The first arrow was like a stream of fire in the starry sky, and the second arrow was hidden underneath the first arrow. In the blink of an eye, the two arrows, one above and one below, shot towards Tianheng’s left and right!
Yet, these two arrows were both struck by the arrows that Tianheng released. And since Tianheng had shot one more arrow than him, this arrow immediately pierced through the void and stabbed towards the s.p.a.ce between Bao Si’s chest and abdomen!
Bao Si’s eyes flashed with a trace of amazement. Soon after, he retreated at great speeds, and pressed down with that longbow. It was just in time to cover his chest area. He wanted to block that final arrow!
At this moment, the surging heat jolted through the longbow. Bao Si only felt a shot of pain in his palms, as if that power wanted to follow his meridians to a.s.sault his insides.
But it was also at this very moment that, because he used the bow to block that arrow, he wasn’t able to continue shooting arrows. However, Tianheng then drew his bow once more, and kept shooting!
This time around, Tianheng didn’t shoot three arrows, but he also didn’t shoot one arrow. Rather, he surprisingly did what Bao Si had done before. A string of two arrows was launched — One above and one below, one present and one hidden.
The extra energy of the arrow lodged in Bao Si’s longbow still hadn’t dissipated. No matter how much he wanted to block, he wasn’t as fast as Tianheng’s arrows. He could only watch as the attack of the two arrows arrived. One arrow stabbed into his right arm, causing him to suddenly drop his longbow. Meanwhile, the other arrow shot into his dantian, making him spurt a mouthful of blood. Under this huge power, he repeatedly recoiled backwards until he fell off the Martial Prowess Platform.
The members of Chongyun Sect were greatly alarmed. They hastily dashed over and caught him.
Soon after, a girl who looked like a pharmacist reached out her hand and grabbed Bao Si’s wrist. Rays of light flickered between her eyebrows as she examined the internal and external circ.u.mstances of his body.
“The meridians are burned… The internal organs have all been damaged by a burst of heat, and the bone pearls throughout his body have cracks… If this burst of heat isn’t dispelled, sooner or later, he’s going to, going to be crippled!”
A young man with an unyielding appearance shouted: “Then, why aren’t you treating him?!”
There was panic in the girl’s voice: “It’s just that this power is very strange. I tried to expel it just now, but it didn’t work… There’s, there’s nothing I can do about this!”
Fury flashed in the eyes of Chongyun Sect’s young elites.
At this moment, Tianheng stood upon the platform and leisurely put away that iron-coated great bow. His palm flipped over as he took out a jade bottle. He poured out a medicinal pill and consumed it. Then, he unhurriedly said: “Is anyone else going to come?”
Gu Zuo stared blankly.
Could it be that his big brother had used up too much?
But from the reaction of his and his big brother’s contract connection, Tianheng’s qi emissions hadn’t weakened one bit… Following which, Gu Zuo promptly understood, and immediately became speechless.
This was pretending to be a pig to eat the tiger, right?
If someone really believed that he was already an arrow at the end of its flight, where he had no choice but to take medicinal pills to replenish his true qi, then they would certainly fall into Tianheng’s pit afterwards. Moreover, this was also probably for the sake of concealing the fact that his big brother’s true qi reserves were incredibly plentiful.
Xi Yangyun and the others watched as Tianheng used so many of these arrows, and realized that he had consumed a lot of strength. They couldn’t help speaking with deep concern: “Junior Sect Brother Gu, it would be better to let Junior Sect Brother Gongyi get off the platform and rest for a while. Once he recovers to his initial state, then he can go back to compete.”
Gu Zuo turned his head and said: “Senior Sect Brothers and Sisters, rest a.s.sured. If my big brother really can’t hold on, he definitely wouldn’t overexert himself.” After he reflected over something, he decided to supplement his big brother a little bit, “I gave all of the top grade Qi Linking Pills that I’ve been saving over to big brother. Right now, what big brother took was just that. The effects are pretty good.”
Xi Yangyun was aware of Gu Zuo’s skills, and also understood that he possessed the Spirit Devouring Pill Refining Method. He heard what was said, and was somewhat relieved: “Since it’s like this, then Junior Sect Brother Gongyi will have to work hard to wipe out Chongyun Sect’s morale. However, if Junior Sect Brother Gongyi truly can’t hold on, he doesn’t need to show off.”
Gu Zuo smiled and said: “Big brother definitely can do it. But if he can’t hold on, I’ll certainly call out to him in a loud voice.”
Hearing Gu Zuo’s words, the masters of numerous forces felt amused, and all of them wore smiling expressions.
Xi Yangyun laughed: “In that case, it’ll depend completely on Junior Sect Brother Gu.”
Of course, this was just a joke. In their opinion, when Tianheng truly wasn’t able to hold on anymore, they would definitely discover this earlier than Gu Zuo, who was a pharmacist. Also, after they imbued their true qi, their voices would be even louder and clearer. At that time, it would only be natural for their voices to call that person down.
Back to the Martial Prowess Platform.
Tianheng’s tone of voice, which rather looked down upon Chongyun Sect, infuriated those young elites. On top of that, this time’s Bao Si was different from the disciples who appeared before. He was a genius with huge potential, and had a rather close relations.h.i.+p with the elites. Now that he was nearly crippled, how could they resign themselves to this?
In the blink of an eye, another person jumped onto the platform.
The one who went up was still a Xiantian stage six martial artist.
Chongyun Sect regarded itself as a great sect that far surpa.s.sed Qingyun Sect. Therefore, when fighting with Tianheng’s stage six realm, they also wouldn’t be willing to allow their own stage seven martial artists to go on the platform.
The martial artist who went up this time was three meters tall. His body was extremely st.u.r.dy, and his muscles bulged with strength. The surface of his skin also bore a layer of faint, golden color. The entire person was like a bronze statue, and he was br.i.m.m.i.n.g with fierce and tough qi emissions.
His age also wasn’t high. He was only twenty years old. However, the feeling he gave others was as if he had tempered his body on the path of martial arts for countless years.
This Xiantian stage six martial artist said: “I, Qing An, have come to fight you!” He licked his lips, and revealed a ferocious grin, “Looking at your scrawny body, can you withstand the miraculous powers of my Body of Supreme Gold?!”
Tianheng smiled: “After you.”
The sole of Qing An’s foot pressed down. He immediately became like a cheetah as he barreled ahead with rumbling steps. His speed was very fast, and his figure stretched out into long, overlapping images. His footsteps were heavy, and each tread made tremendously loud sounds. It nearly caused the entire Martial Prowess Platform to violently shake.
Immediately following that, he laughed heartily: “Let’s see how you deal with your father’s bare fists!”
After he finished speaking, Qing An’s fist explosively shot out. The qi energy that erupted from this fist produced an intense, booming noise. In the blink of an eye, it struck towards Tianheng like a leopard’s head!
The air also issued the sounds of qi explosions. However, Tianheng didn’t dodge; he only slightly moved his legs to the side. Soon after, his waist turned, and he brazenly shot out a fist!
Likewise, there were intense qi explosions. The air released peals of booming sounds. The clenched fists of Tianheng and Qing An collided. Both people were impacted by the qi energy of the other party. Their figures trembled, and both of them recoiled backwards.
Qing An retreated seven to eight steps in a row. Once he stood firm, he shook his fist: “You actually have some strength.”
The number of recoiling steps that Tianheng took was a little higher. Those with discerning eyes saw that, when he was continuously moving backwards, both of his legs intertwined with one another, forming a type of strange footwork. And this footwork allowed his figure to flicker and fluctuate. Amid such fluctuations, the qi energy that his physical body received was constantly reduced, enabling him to escape unscathed.
Now it could be seen that, although Tianheng used more footwork, there was hardly any difference in the distance that he retreated compared to the distance that Qing An retreated.
In other words, Tianheng had relied on skill and a strength that also wasn’t weak to smoothly take on Qing An’s move.
Chongyun Sect’s side didn’t antic.i.p.ate this at all.
After Qing An took action, they originally thought that, if Gongyi Tianheng fell for the provocation and fought directly, those fists would break bone and rend flesh at the very least. They didn’t expect that Tianheng would fully put his methods to use and receive it head-on!
Even if Tianheng’s presently revealed strength and physical body couldn’t compare to that of Qing An, the discrepancies between them weren’t too vast. Otherwise, let alone receiving that punch, no matter how many skills were utilized, it would’ve been impossible to withstand the boundless power of that bombardment!
Gu Zuo laughed in his sleeve.
If it was before, his big brother might’ve had a bit of a problem. But it was different now. After tempering his body with beast blood, his big brother’s physical body was much more powerful than before. Moreover, even though the power of his physical body was insufficient, there was an unending stream of true qi in his bone pearls. After increasing the output, he could burst forth with an exceptional amount of qi energy. Chongyun Sect’s plan of using strength to suppress his big brother had also been derailed!
At once, Qing An scoffed, and took action once more.
His body seemed to be carrying an inexhaustible strength. With every movement, there was a rumbling sound like a clap of thunder. But Tianheng didn’t back down at all. Unexpectedly, he used his physical body to fight with Qing An just like this.
As Qing An fought, the golden light on the surface of his body burst forth, and seemed to bundle his skin in a layer of metal. No matter how much true qi Tianheng used, it was like a clay ox entering the sea. He basically couldn’t injure Qing An in the slightest. Meanwhile, Qing An’s own strength was extremely great. While he battled with Tianheng, he constantly jolted Tianheng’s body, trying to injure the other’s internal organs so that Tianheng wouldn’t be able to continue fighting.
The corner of Tianheng’s mouth curled up.
At the next moment, his fist was covered in a layer of reddish-black power.
Creak —
After Qing An made a move, he hastily extricated himself and retreated.
He suddenly revealed his own fist and discovered that it was emitting a burst of black smoke. His skin’s surface also bore a bit of black color.
Qing An was alarmed in his heart, and promptly operated his true qi.
In a split second, his fist released golden light, and that bit of black disappeared in the blink of an eye. However, he could still sense a type of corrosive power inside. In addition, that thick stench of blood was full of malicious intent.
What was even more important was that this power seemed to restrain his own miraculous powers to a certain extent!
Qing An gave a cold laugh, and brazenly attacked once again.
So what if there was a restraining effect? The power of corrosion was just that. There was an abundance of true qi within his body. When the miraculous power operated, the power of corrosion gradually vanished. He could still beat that Gongyi Tianheng.
At this moment, both of Tianheng’s fists carried a reddish-black light. Every time he attacked, that light would be released. Also, there was a type of frightening, suppressive might and an off-sweet odor that pervaded the air.
Although Qing An wasn’t afraid of it, he used up more and more power to eliminate the power of corrosion with every one of Tianheng’s strikes. As the fighting continued, it was only natural that Qing An’s attacks weren’t as imposing and valiant as before.
Tianheng contended a couple of rounds with him. Suddenly, a short bow appeared in Tianheng’s hand. On the bow, a thin arrow shot forth!
The angle of this arrow was strange. The location it pointed towards was precisely the center of Qing An’s chest!
Qing An immediately realized that something was wrong. His st.u.r.dy body had already descended overhead in the form of Mount Tai, but as it happened, Tianheng shot a thin arrow at this moment. It seemed he had left a big opening, like he had taken the initiative to welcome this arrow with his chest. Qing An was startled. Both of his legs evaded, and he twisted his body to turn around. However, Tianheng’s slender arrow had already been launched. Qing An wasn’t able to completely dodge it, and the location where he was struck was his arm.
Indeed, Qing An was wounded at this moment, but he suddenly let out a peal of hearty laughter: “Hahaha! This strength of yours can’t pierce through your father’s golden body!”
Tianheng faintly smiled: “I didn’t intend to pierce that golden body of yours in the first place.”
In this instant, Qing An’s legs reached the ground, and he was just about to dash over. However, Tianheng was calm and unruffled in the midst of chaos. He reached out a hand, and slapped out a palm.
Pow!
That Qing An, who’d just landed on the ground, was immediately struck by a huge force. Because his feet weren’t completely stable, his entire body was like a spinning top. Due to this force, he suddenly spun around.
Qing An’s complexion turned a furious purple.
A loss of face! What a loss of face!
He couldn’t help shouting in fury: “Despicable! Shameless!”
Under the Martial Prowess Platform, the Qingyun Sect disciples stared blankly. Shortly after, they ridiculed without restraint: “Shameless? It’s nothing more than a move’s palm technique. Could it be that your Chongyun Sect permits you to use that golden body to protect yourself, but it doesn’t permit others to seize an opponent’s gaps and counterattack?! These words are too funny!”
Qing An knew that this was a slip of the tongue. His face burned even hotter, but he didn’t admit his mistake. He repeatedly stamped his feet, wanting to stop spinning.
Tianheng’s lips hooked up, and he slapped out another palm.
At this moment, Qing An started spinning around once again. It seemed like he was both graceful and clumsy.
But the current Qing An suddenly discovered that being whipped around like a spinning top wasn’t the worst thing. What was the most horrible was that, while he was continuously rotating, his golden body was constantly being contaminated with black qi!
As it turned out, the two palms that Tianheng slapped out with were two enormous Blood Palms, which had smeared nearly all of Qing An’s body. At the places where he’d been struck, reddish-black qi was continuously spreading. Meanwhile, fury clouded his heart, and he was initially only preoccupied with stoping his body. He’d forgotten to operate his true qi to dispel the power of corrosion.
At this time, Qing An felt incomparable pain all over his body. After Tianheng slapped another Blood Palm out, he was swatted off the Martial Prowess Platform. His entire body was blackened, and was in dire need of critical care.
Tianheng stopped fighting, and his complexion seemed to turn somewhat pale. Hence, he took out another medicinal pill, and stuffed it into his mouth. His voice was even more tranquil, as if he was suppressing an internal injury: “Who else will come?”
Everyone in Qingyun Sect: “…”
Everyone in Chongyun Sect: “…”
At the present time, neither side talked nonsense. Chongyun Sect’s side choked back a bellyful of anger. Then, a person’s figure swept out like a light breeze. His speed was extremely fast, and he appeared to excel in body techniques. The weapons in his hands were even stranger. They were two horn-shaped objects like that of daggers. After getting on the platform, he didn’t introduce himself. He seized the decisive opportunity and charged over!
Tianheng wasn’t hurried. In a flash, two short spears appeared in his hands.
These short spears were only a little more than a foot long each. The tips were sharp and flickered with a cold light. And above those spear tips flashed a reddish-black radiance. It looked incredibly terrifying.
No one dared to look down upon this reddish-black light because this radiance was much more strange and crafty than that reddish-gold power.
If someone underestimated it, then they would wind up with an ending even more wretched than that of Qing An.
Xi Yangyun and the others roused their spirits for Tianheng.
They were thinking — Whether it was the previous arrow techniques or strength, the other party was repeatedly coming up just like this, and Tianheng was unexpectedly resisting them all. However, n.o.body was perfect. Those two fellows were formidable, but it didn’t mean that this body technique could also suppress the other side. Yet, Chongyun Sect was just that despicable. It had sent out disciples who specialized in certain abilities one after another as if it was determined to find Tianheng’s weakness. Then, like a viper, it would defeat him!
— This time, would Tianheng still be able to hold on?
Gu Zuo still had faith in his dear big brother’s body techniques. He knew that his big brother had extensively read up on numerous martial skills. After mastering this subject through comprehensive study, he had gone through several life and death battles, and definitely gained many insights. A body technique was an indispensable method for escaping. In Deer Blood Mountain Range, his big brother had dealt with those numerous wild beasts, so he had certainly honed himself in this respect.
However, the troubled concern in his heart was still large.
Below the platform, everyone saw that Tianheng didn’t compete with that Chongyun Sect disciple in body techniques. Instead, he stood in place and his figure remained motionless.
When that Chongyun Sect disciple encircled Tianheng’s sides and entangled him like a gust of wind, the two daggers were like two poisonous dragons. The daggers repeatedly lashed out at strange angles. Yet, everyone saw that Tianheng wasn’t staying still. Rather, both of his feet were changing positions within a half-meter radius, allowing his entire person to resemble a being with three heads and six arms. Also, the two short spears in his hands were like two mythical rocs. Every instant that the poisonous dragons attacked, the beaks of the two rocs would unceasingly peck at them.
The sound of colliding metal was like the scouring of a rainstorm. It practically became a scene of an unending clamor. However, this sound wasn’t pleasant to hear. On the contrary, it held an endless feeling of harshness. A sense of strain was produced from the bottom of one’s heart for whomever heard this noise. It seemed like, amid this type of sound, the beating of one’s heart would speed up countless times over — Like it was going to jump right out of one’s chest!
Such collision sounds continued for no less than a joss of incense. The battle situation appeared to have sunken into a deadlock. It seemed that, for whomever had the more abundant true qi, they would be the one to prevail over the other.
That Chongyun Sect disciple believed that, under his hurricane of continuous attacks, that Gongyi Tianheng, who had fought several battles in a row, certainly wouldn’t have been able to last for much longer. The Chongyun Sect disciple would breach Tianheng’s defenses. However, he didn’t expect that, after his a.s.sa.s.sination techniques were completely put on display, Tianheng could still maintain the previous frequency and block all of his attacks!
However, this Chongyun Sect disciple also needed to take a breather.
He didn’t dare to neglect anything, and promptly withdrew himself. He was going to catch his breath and attack once more.
But the Chongyun Sect disciple never once thought that not long after he retreated, when he was about to gain his second wind, the short spears in Tianheng’s hands had disappeared some time ago. After that…
There was another palm.
Pow!
The Blood Palm came out, and slapped the opponent off the Martial Prowess Platform. This person fell onto those many Chongyun Sect disciples.
