Chapter 5495 Soul Refinement to the Netherworld
Guo Ran and the others were dumbfounded as they stared at the two figures behind Long Chen. It was as if they were seeing an illusion. How could these two possibly appear here?
Even Long Chen was caught off guard. He never imagined that his body would contain the blood soul energy of Leng Yueyan and Ming Cangyue.
What Long Chen didn’t know was that ever since their unions, their blood soul energy had been deeply embedded in his body, dormant due to their divine const.i.tutions. In truth, not even Leng Yueyan or Ming Cangyue would have believed such a phenomenon was possible.
The pressure of the Nether Emperor’s will and the Netherworld’s laws had forced this blood soul energy to awaken. At this critical juncture, they charged out to protect him, helping him resist this pressure.
With their aid, the binding chains around Long Chen shattered, and the suffocating force dissipated. As the pressure eased, Leng Yueyan and Ming Cangyue’s figures dissolved into specks of light, merging back into his body.
Though they had vanished, the Netherworld’s laws lingered in the air. However, their once-overbearing might had transformed into harmless whispers. Moments ago, these laws had sought to suppress Long Chen, but now, they seemed subdued, like wild beasts reduced to docile lambs. Although Long Chen had no way to actually use these laws, they couldn’t harm him any longer.
This scene left everyone stunned. Only Netherdragon Tianfeng recognized the faint aura of the Netherworld’s G.o.d race on Long Chen. Yet, even he couldn’t fathom how a human could carry the divine blood of the NetherG.o.d race.
In the end, the carefully crafted battlefield—designed by Netherdragon Tianfeng to crush Long Chen—was now rendered ineffective.
“I didn’t think that you still had something up your sleeve. But even so, you aren’t a match for me, the son of the Nether Emperor,” Netherdragon Tianfeng sneered, pointing his dragon spear at Long Chen. “Your astral energy is fading, while I am bolstered by the Nether Emperor’s divine radiance. My power is infinite. How will you fight me now?”
His words sent waves of dread through the crowd. Gazing at Long Chen, they could see the flickering astral flames that signaled his dwindling strength.
Fighting the will of the Nether Emperor had exhausted too much of his astral energy. Hence, his combat power was waning.
Long Chen, however, remained unfazed. He smirked coldly. “Even with my energy running low, it’s more than enough to take care of the two of you.”
Long Chen then started walking through the air toward Netherdragon Tianfeng and the Silver Hair Void Crusher.
The Silver Hair Void Crusher stood silently behind Tianfeng, a strange flame enveloping him. Though no one knew what his intentions were, they reeked of malice.
As for Netherdragon Tianfeng, he unconsciously took a step back when Long Chen started walking toward him. But the instant he realized it, his fury exploded.
He, a son of the Nether Emperor, had shown fear before his enemy. To retreat meant that he was afraid of Long Chen, which also signified that he couldn’t maintain his undefeatable will in front of Long Chen.
Realizing that, Netherdragon Tianfeng couldn’t accept this reality and howled, “Dragon blood ignition, soul refinement to the Netherworld!”
An enormous Netherdragon manifestation erupted behind him. Its body ignited, and flames of terrifying intensity engulfed the sky.
“Has he gone mad?! He’s burning away his core?!” gasped the dragon race’s experts, their disbelief palpable.
They could not comprehend Netherdragon Tianfeng’s actions. To burn one’s core was to destroy one’s foundation—a desperate, self-destructive act. Was this any different from killing himself?
“He is a son of the Nether Emperor, so even if he burns away his flesh and blood, it’s not a problem for him. As long as his dragon bones remain, he can fully recover in the Netherworld. As the laws of the Netherworld can no longer suppress Long Chen, Netherdragon Tianfeng has no choice but to use this method to elevate his power,” explained the white dragon race’s patriarch.
After betraying the dragon race long ago to reside in the Netherworld, the Netherdragon race had gained mutated divine abilities that made them unpredictable. Thus, the dragon race didn’t understand them too well anymore.
However, the white dragon race’s patriarch had a special perception ability that allowed him to see some clues.
Just then, Netherdragon Tianfeng’s dragon spear and Evilmoon collided, creating shockwaves that tore through the void. Both combatants were blasted back but immediately lunged at each other again.
Their weapons blurred as they exchanged hundreds of blows in a storm of saber and spear strikes. The fierce clash sent chills down the spines of onlookers.
Yue Zifeng and the others were originally worried for Long Chen, given his apparent exhaustion. But after this exchange of blows, they instantly felt much more at ease.
In contrast, Mo Yang, Xie Qianzhong, and their allies remained tense. The battle was razor-close, and a single mistake could spell disaster.
“Don’t worry,” Guo Ran said confidently. “If that guy couldn’t defeat Boss in a single strike, then he’s doomed to lose.”
“What makes you so sure?” Mo Yang asked.
“Because Boss thrives in prolonged fights. The longer the battle lasts, the closer he gets to victory. Trust me—Boss will win,” Guo Ran declared with unwavering faith.
Just as Guo Ran said this, a powerful explosion rang out—Netherdragon Tianfeng had managed to send Evilmoon flying out of Long Chen’s hand. Everyone cried out in shock. Just as Guo Ran said that Long Chen would definitely win, things took a sudden turn for the worse.
Gasps of horror echoed across the battlefield. The patriarchs didn’t hesitate and prepared to intervene.
Sensing his moment, Netherdragon Tianfeng gathered his strength. Grand Dao runes swirled around his fist, forming a dragon-headed, devilish sigil.
“Nether Emperor Heaven Shatterer!” Netherdragon Tianfeng roared, putting everything he had in one attack.
This was a rare opportunity for him. Although he had managed to knock Evilmoon out of Long Chen’s grasp, the effort left his own arm trembling and numb. Forced to switch to his other arm, he poured all his remaining power into a final, devastating attack.
However, just as he unleashed his attack, he saw a strange smile appear on Long Chen’s face.
In the next instant, a ma.s.sive dragon materialized in Long Chen’s divine ring, and Netherdragon Tianfeng heard an ear-splitting dragon cry. Long Chen’s Starry Sky Battle Robe dissolved into a cascade of light, replaced by blood-red dragon scale armor and a scarlet cloak that billowed ominously behind him.
The dragon cry seemed to penetrate the depths of everyone’s soul, shaking the heavens. As the sound died away, a blood-colored cross started to spin in Long Chen’s hand, radiating a terrifying aura of annihilation.
His armor, his cloak, even the dragon’s image—all of it compressed into this single, condensed cross.
“Sovereign Blood Seal—G.o.d Slaying Cross!” Long Chen shouted, slamming his palm into Netherdragon Tianfeng’s fist.
