Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 24 Part 1
When Zhou Tingsheng took Ye Qiao back to the filming site, he had already tidied himself.
His freshly shaven face was like a handsome statue, without a single blemish, except for
the scab on his lips.
Nonetheless, Ye Qiao rather liked the scab. Zhou Tingsheng leaned against the car door
saying goodbye to her, as golden sunlight shone over his figure. Her eyes were fixed on
the scab. Ye Qiao had seen many gorgeous looking men, some were aloof and some were
gentle. Many of them would dress in an impeccable suit and tie with glimmering cufflinks
and tie clips. Zhou Tingsheng could do the same, but she preferred it when he was down
and out. When he looked too perfect, with nary a flaw, it felt like the distance between them
had widened.
Absorbed in her own thoughts, Zhou Tingsheng curtly asked: “What are you looking at?”
Ye Qiao was holding Ophelia in her arms, stroking his fur. She heartlessly laughed: “How
are you going to explain the scab once you go back? Just stay at home, don't go out.”
Zhou Tingsheng really wished he could pull her over and rub her head: “I'll just say that the
cat did it.”
Ye Qiao threw the cat to him. Ophelia, snarling and clawing, turned into a furry parachute.
Zhou Tingsheng firmly caught the cat, but Ophelia was still badly frightened. Zhou Tingsheng
let the cat lie on his shoulder to comfort him. After a while, the cat meowed as if he was still
haunted by the throw. Zhou Tingsheng raised his eyebrows: “Is this still your cat after all?”
Ye Qiao pretended to be disgusted: “You've become his official owner on the internet.
You can have him. I don't want to have a secondhand one.”
Zhou Tingsheng acted as if he was sorry to hear it: “You've seen all of them?”
Ye Qiao retorted: “Don't you know that I've seen them all?”
How could he not know. He tacitly smiled, not minding that his little trick had been exposed.
“I'll restore your rightful owners.h.i.+p to you some other day.”
Ye Qiao wondered in her mind: How would you be able to do it?
However, that wasn't what Ye Qiao was concerned about right at the moment.
Zhou Tingsheng was about to leave. She knew that gossip must have spread among the
film crew. There was no entertainment whatsoever in this desolate place, she was used to
being the topic of gossip around here. At the very least, there was now a new male lead in
their gossip.
She didn't care about it and said without giving it much thought: “Let me see you off.”
Zhou Tingsheng choked from laughing too hard: “How? You'll see me off to the main road
then you walk back? Or do I need to drive you back again?”
Ye Qiao raised her eyebrows: “So, you don't want to?”
“Sure, I'd love to.”
Zhou Tingsheng decided not to leave just yet. He put Ophelia back in the car and walked
with her around the village.
They walked on the tiny, empty trail around the area where he had parked the vehicle.
It was still quite chilly, early in the morning out in the field. He wrapped her hand in his
and led her in leisurely stroll of the countryside.
