Chapter 7

The moon at one in the morning murkily enveloped the the neighborhood.

Xi Jia noticed something was really off the moment he entered the neighborhood.

This part of the neighborhood was newly built, cost was high, and the development was almost the most rapid. Jingdu Lake was near, and you could see it in the distance in the higher floors. It’s also part of a school district. If Xi Jia didn’t receive a compensation for the demolition of his old house, how could he get an apartment here?

Because it’s close to Creative Industrial Park where many technological companies are located, many of the residents are programmers. Many of them work overtime. It’s impossible for it to be this quiet since many of them would be returning from work.

Xi Jia frowned as Pei Yu drew a rune in the air. Just from the radiation, it wasn’t as strong as the one Ye Jingzhi drew on Xi Jia’s door. However, impressively, a golden light still flooded the entire neighborhood.

“Go!”

Xi Jia’s pupils contracted as he looked in astonishment at the black qi.

Pei Yu was also surprised. The area conprised of two blocks and wasn’t small at all, yet the entire area was permeated by yin energy.

A light breeze came from outside but scattered the moment it touched the perimeter of the neighborhood.

Pei Yu asked, “Is this your doing?”

When he entered, Xi Jia already noticed that something wasn’t right, but couldn’t see the extent of it. Now that he did, “Not me. It wasn’t like this two days ago. Can you find out where the yin energy is the strongest?”

Pei Yu shook his head, “Now is when the door of the yin is open. Yin energy would flourish during this time. My master and h.e.l.l King Ye, but I can’t. I can find it in the morning when the sun is out.” Please read the real version at Spicy Chicken Translations.

Since there’s no way to find the cause, the two strolled a bit in the neighborhood before finally going home.

Xi Jia wasn’t a Celestial Master. He doesn’t know any spells. Not to mention finding ghosts. And Pei Yu is useless, claiming to be a leading figure of the younger generation. Feel like something is not quite right? The real “deal” is at the bottom.

The next afternoon, Pei Yu used a compa.s.s to walk around the neighorbhood like a lunatic. He muttered incoherently. During the daytime, everything seemed normal. There were ladies chatting in the garden, and elderly doing exercises.

Xi Jia looked indifferently at the residents. He’s never been in contact with them due to his circ.u.mstances. He asked the imcomparable Qing Li to only block his yin energy and not his eyes, so he could see the yin energy. Now, he could see the black qi over the neighborhood.

All these residents looked awkward and stiff. They were ignornant of their surroundings. They chatted, but seemed to talk to thin air. They exercised, but didn’t seem to bend their joints. They look like zombies, going about their daily life.

Pei Yu said, “Ignore them for now, you can’t blindly act without thinking.”

Xi Jia never wanted to remind these people. He only looked at them from afar.

The two circled around three times, but they couldn’t find the source. Pei Yu was fustrated. Xi Jia looked at a couple of children playing in the distance.

Most children should be at school at this time, these children shouldn’t be in kindergarten yet. Two of them were playing in the sandbox, and one of them played alone in the corner.

Xi Jia was about to walk away when he heard a “thump.” He turned and saw the lonely little boy suddenly fall and hit his head on the cement edge.

Running over, “Does it hurt? Are you okay?”

The two other children just glanced over and didn’t help. Fortunately, there was only a large bruise and no bleeding.

Xi Jia asked, “Where’s your house? Big brother will send you home.”

The little boy pointed to a building.

Xi Jia found Pei Yu walking farther and farther away. It’s only sending a child home, it shouldn’t take too long. He picked up the boy and went to the building.

The boy didn’t talk, he only pointed when Xi Jia asked for directions.

Three minutes later, they exited the elevator. Unexpectedly, the lights were out. He looked around and saw burnt ritual money in an iron basin.

It was quiet, ice-cold, no human energy.

Xi Jia asked, “Which house?”

Please read the real version at Spicy Chicken Translations.

The little boy pointed.

Xi Jia calmly held the child as he pressed on the doorbell. There seemed to be no one in the house. He tried knocking on the door. Soon, heavy footsteps could be heard coming from the entrance. They seem to be dragging something heavy on the floor. The peephole turned black, there’s someone looking at Xi Jia through the other side.

“Creak—-”

The front door was lighty pushed open, and a haggard woman coldly looked at Xi Jia.

The little boy jumped down and ran behind the woman. Xi Jia looked at the woman, the woman also looked at him. The woman looked like a zombie with her pale face. Her right arm was in bandages.

Xi Jia smiled, “The child accidently b.u.mped his head on the ground.”

No answer.

Xi Jia smiled again, “Did someone die recently?”

No answer.

Then the child pointed to the door across the hall, and the woman answered, “The grandpa across the hall died three days ago.”

BANG!

Xi Jia was startled, the front door was slammed in his face.

Ding—-

The elevator suddenly stopped behind Xi Jia. He hadn’t pressed the b.u.t.ton at all, yet the elevator stopped on this floor. He gathered his fingers into a fist, preparing to fight. Before he could see the other person, he could hear an excited voice.

“What was I saying? Oh yeah, I can definitely find it! Eh? Xi Jia, how are you here? Did you also find it? Ah, look! There’s paper money here, someone definitely just died. It has to be one of these apartments that has a problem. Look, the compa.s.s was all in chaos when I came here. It’s too powerful. From what I have seen, it’s only weaker than you.”

Xi Jia, “…..”

The suspense was ruined in a flash. “If my compa.s.s ran into you, it’s not a problem of chaos. That can be checked off the list. Don’t take off the imcomparable Qing Li either, or else I would have to toss my compa.s.s and I would have nowhere to cry. Your yin energy is too powerful.. Since I didn’t directly hunt you as aghost this is also considered my prowess. If it were someone else….”

Xi Jia couldn’t hold it anymore, “……SHUT UP!”

The Translator has something to say:

Wu Xiang Qing Li: This baby was originally called a ruthless, awesome, violent, and tyrannical name, Wu Xiang Qing Li (无相青黎)! But you guys unexpectedly named this baby something like Five Spices Qing Li (五香青黎), or even something like Five Boxes of Green Pears (五箱青梨)! Ahhhhh angry! It doesn't display a bit of this baby's cool and awesome temperament (ノ`Д´)ノ!!!Please read this at the original (also FREE) site of Spicy Chicken Translations. Thank you.
