Chapter 2093: Months of Preparation
"Still no sign of Kraft?" Jin asked Gara and he continued to shake his head.
"No. There were indeed signs of Kraft's presence in that battlefield a few months back and it lingered for weeks before his presence faded away. Yet at the same time, the Pandarians who were more sensitive to minute changes could not sense any difference in the area.
All they could feel was the fading presence before the Bamboo G.o.d's aura took over the entire place and covered the place." Gara reported and Jin yawned as he looked at the magical map that Gara had created with his powers.
The past few months were probably the most industrious portion of Ress could ever be. With Jin lazily naming the capital as New Ress City, the citizens were rather accepting of its new designation and put in their effort to push the capital's development so that the word 'New' in New Ress City had some meaning to it.
While Kraft's disappearance' had an impact on the Star Foxes' morale to a certain extent, they had been too busy to care about the temporary loss of their leader. Jin had mandated that all new criminals that had been incarcerated were all inducted into Star Foxes' team regardless of race, age and gender.
Yes, that means even a 60 year old grand dad who had lost his freedom due to the strict laws of New Ress City was placed into Star Foxes training until he was capable of being a killing machine despite his age.
It brought several controversial topics to the table that the King was commanding an entire battalion of prisoners but no one complained as they were all given a second chance in life as long as they managed to survive the h.e.l.l training that the Star Foxes had given them.
And this also gave a new perspective that even the young and the elderly can be proven to be useful. But the induction of these people was not without any reason, especially when every single Ress Citizen could see that their borders were filled with people who were dying to kill and slaughter every single one of them.
They had their reservations and doubts that Jin might be manipulating the information but the fact that Jin had managed to sneak a few magic eyes out to the capitals of the neighbouring countries (once again, courtesy of the Star Foxes for their work), the people were able to hear all the nonsense from the various cities through their city's infamous big screens.
It was pretty obvious to the citizens that it was a matter of time before the entirety of the world might be against them. If they needed to fight, it would honestly just be Ress against the World and the Demons.
Meanwhile, the few months had proven to Jin that the decisive choice to rescue the Pandarians was the best thing he ever made. The Ress Citizens could not have helped to learn that the Pandarians were not just the most reliable ally they had ever made but also good pals that they could lean to.
The humans might have offered engineering and other technological aspects to improve the Pandarians' lives through the dungeon portal but the Pandarians had taught the basis of chi to the humans who were not able to use magic. This in turn significantly pushed up Ress' fighting force to full capacity.
And with the Star Foxes' induction of the young and elderly, both extreme ages had started contributing to the Ress War engine, providing whatever help they could to make sure that they were able to win this.
Of course, most if not all of Ress was actually afraid.
They could see that their comfortable lives had been threatened by the multiple accusations of heresy by the humans who were not able to see beyond the isolation barrier. Yet at the same time, they were sure that if they opened the doors, there would be no room for negotiation. There were also quite a fair bit of immigrants in Ress before the doors closed and the isolation barrier came up.
All of them knew that the objective of coming to Ress was because of the large crystal cave that they had and it was seemingly bottomless despite the decades of digging. The prospectors in Ress had a.s.sumed that their country might have been the gateway to the entirety of the Atopia's crystal deposits that were under them.
But for some reason, Jin had never asked Ress to dig. Instead, he had been continuously summoning portals out to get people to take resources from those areas. Of course, most prospectors had determined the portals that their King had placed out were actually of better value compared to the crystal cave Ress possessed.
This evaluation got even better when the Pandarians and Ress workers grew stronger together and Jin was able to call out portals of higher ranks. This gave them access to crystals and materials that they rarely see in the open markets as well as the only advantage they had against the overwhelming numbers that were right outside their doorsteps.
In the meantime, the Ress Citizens were not the only people who had levelled up. Jin definitely felt that with his new job cla.s.s as well as the teachings from the System and Elder Bai, he started to have a better manipulation of his powers. It was to the point where he had the power to create a new magic spell that veiled the Northern isolation barrier that enclosed the Royal Ress Fields.
Because it was shrouded with Demons and demonic energy, the Star Foxes that he sent out to scout and monitor the neighbouring nations did not know that Jin had managed to capture the northern territory. Thus, the distraction that Jin performed in the previous operation to keep the countries busy with the demons had enabled them to not see the Northern Isolation Barrier.
This gave him ample time to disguise it and keep its presence under wraps while the development of Royal Ress Fields continued to grow food for the thousands of mouths to feed as well as the refugees. In fact, most who volunteered to work were the Northern Refugees and Jin was using this as an excuse and a reason for them to be turned into Ress citizens.
After all, he needed more men for his fight even though he gained a surprisingly decent ally who was in the midst of the 'speedy reproduction' phase.
But just as the Demons were still crowding over the new isolation barrier, Jin wondered if he could use the same tactic which he did for the previous attack. "Ah… I am craving to get the demons to kill the neighbouring peeps once more… I do not really want to use my troops against them." Jin thought to himself if he could utilise the demons as part of his temporary workforce so that his people do not have to work too hard.
Of course, it should be doable but at the same time, he felt that it would take a bit too much work too but there was not much time left as the King believed the armies gathered would be reaching saturation point soon.
