Chapter 2103: Just a Talk
"So, no one knew about Mong Empire's involvement with the Celestials?" Jin asked one of the Star Fox interrogators and she shook her head.
"They had divulged every single secret they could before we brainwashed them when returning them to the ma.s.ses. However, none of them had any information on the Mong Empire or the Celestials. We can only believe that they might have been manipulated or memory wiped just as how we did it." The Star Fox interrogator said but her a.s.sistant shook her head too.
"There was no sign of memory manipulation on my end. We did not have any interference when we entered their memories nor were there signs of reconstruction happening. We were the first entering their brains like this." The a.s.sistant replied and the main interrogator chuckled.
"Well, because most of our techniques were forbidden in the first place. I still cannot believe that our king was so flexible to such an extent as to allow this kind of technique. We would have been executed on the spot if we were in the previous era." The main interrogator said and Jin looked a little p.i.s.sed.
"Are you saying all of this to patronise me?"
"No, not at all your Majesty! It's just that this is the first time I see someone who sees us as tools to be used rather than the usual disdain in their eyes. One that does not care what the methods but the need to get things done."
"Heh. I tell you, I was a naïve guy myself. Even up till now, I still feel that I am that way even though I am leading the country." Jin said as he saw the next prisoner of war coming in and introducing himself to be one of Nalg Kingdom's officers. The entire charade continued until Jin saw the two Star Foxes coerced the officer into their spells and the mind manipulation began.
They thought it would be the standard information coming through until they noticed that this officer said something different from the others. "Ah yes, the blessed ones. Mong Empire's amba.s.sador once told me about them. They said to be giving this world a brand new start.
All these demons would disappear with their appearance and if I aid Mong Empire secretly, I would be rewarded with untold and unforeseeable fortune." The officer blurted out.
"I did not believe them in the first place until the amba.s.sador gave me a box filled with gold bars right at my doorstep. I then a.s.sisted with the coordination or mission details that the amba.s.sador had given me. It was not easy at first but with the amount of money that I was given on a mission basis, the risk was worth it.
Too bad Nalg had too many hands to rub or else I might also be living in luxury and not be stuck in this war."
"What did you aid them with?" Jin asked and the officer answered as if he was bragging.
"Nothing much, just slaves in the market a few poor dudes who could not afford their rent, and quite a number of horses for some reason. The latter was easy to purchase initially but with Ress' isolation barrier, they became more of a commodity since everyone needed those horses to ride from East to West and vice versa."
"Anything else?" Jin asked and the officer thought for a while.
"I did remember they wanted very pure crystals but it was something out of my range so I introduced a crystal dealer to them instead. After all, with the isolation barrier, crystals especially high purity ones were hard to find."
"Can you tell us who is your contact? I a.s.sume the amba.s.sador is merely your first point of contact." Jin asked and before he could blurt out his answer, the officer suddenly turned tongue and his heart started to ache as if there was a force stopping his heart from pumping.
"f.u.c.k!" The Star Fox interrogator said as she released the mind control and began to use puppetry as a way to overcome the force. However, everyone in the room could know that this was a curse that was happening.
"Time Dilation!" Jin activated without hesitation and everyone within the room moved extremely slowly. It was at that point that the King of Ress had decided to dirty his hands with the methods Kraft had taught him before. With the burst of Maqi in his possession, he dived into the officer's mind and searched for the name with brute force.
However, the more he attempted to move into his memory bank, all he could feel was barrier after barrier of magic blocking his dive. Still, Jin got the upper hand since he had been taught how to deconstruct any sort of mind barriers courtesy of Kraft. The only difference was that time was not at his side so Jin decided to play a two p.r.o.nged approach in getting that information.
As his spell began to deconstruct the barriers with his magical know-how, Jin decided to do something even more drastic by using his soul to connect with the other officer. Soul Cras.h.i.+ng is how Kraft would have aptly named it. The only problem with that was he required a lot of Maqi to do so.
Thankfully, with the recent number of improvements to his magic and chi circuits, this was something that had been deemed as high difficulty compared to previously when Kraft labeled Jin as impossible to perform such a feat.
He believed that with soul cras.h.i.+ng where Jin's ethereal form temporarily left his body and moved to his enemy's he was able to take control of access should the officer do not have any mind training at all.
Luckily, the only thing that was blocking his way was the innate curses and with the soul cras.h.i.+ng, the mind in a split second released the info for the initial Maqi spell to grab that information and return to the main body.
Within that micron of a second, Jin's soul returned to his body right before the information had entered his head. It was a feat that the two Star Foxes interrogators did not antic.i.p.ate but it took a heck lot from Jin considering this was the first practical lesson he had used.
The time dilation stopped and the officer squinted to the floor with the Star Foxes decided to call for a medic to aid him. It might be a little hard to calm the ma.s.ses down when this happened but Jin had learned a piece of valuable information and he believed those Star Foxes scouting Nalg might be able to get some answers for him.
