Chapter 2129 Ress’s National Day -Final
The day hath come.
As the sun rose, lively trumpets were blown despite the modern landscape that littered the horizon. Everyone knew that this was the day of celebration. Everyone was wearing Red and Black to signify the colours of the flag that was blowing up high on every governmental building.
People started to populate the streets while vendors were hastily selling their food and other wares prior to the start of the Royal Parade. With the advance of technology and magic, the magic eye screens in the skies popped up, this time in numerous locations compared to the first time when there were only two to three screens being broadcast above the capital.
This time, people even in distant towns had been connected to watch the parade from the comforts of their sofas if they wanted to. Otherwise, the majority of the citizens residing in New Ress City had crowded their streets while waiting for the only medieval looking building to open its gates.
This was the only time when every single person in Ress was not working except for those on security duty or a partic.i.p.ant in the National Day celebrations.
The number of people turning for the Royal parade was phenomenal and one could say it was record breaking. This was because even the lowest cla.s.s of citizens in Ress could feel the impact and change the King had brought to the kingdom in the past year. Everyone knew that this sudden jump in technological advance in their city was unprecedented and could not have happened without the King.
Citizens from the start of the isolation barrier were in despair from the get go but at this moment, their hearts were filled with pride in what they can achieve.
Some say that such development might be unsustainable and it might be an ivory tower that would not last forever considering the ultimatum that the King had put up consistently. However, at this moment they were all delighted that they were able to reach this day where the Founders of Ress started building this city from scratch.
The guards at the Royal Ress Castle Gates eventually sounded their horns and the gates opened, signalling that the Royal Parade had started.
Spectators closest to the Royal Castle Gates were already shouting and waving their national flags in antic.i.p.ation for the Royal Carriage to go around the city once before going into the Central Square where it was now converted into a provisional stage for the celebrations to happen.
Sights of the horses pulling the traditional carriage were finally captured by the various Magic eyes and the people who were waving flags started to shout and cheer. Also, because this was Ress, the city where Mages called home, illusion magic had been activated the moment the carriage was being pulled into the streets.
The road eventually filled with flowers and petals were flying around to signify the presence of the King and their leader. This continued on until they reached the Central Square and that was when individual platoons of the Mages Corps were seen marching through the roads.
Smart looking soldiers proudly put their best performance for everyone to see and they were heartened to hear continuous cheers from the people on the side of the roads as they made their way to Central Square to give their greetings to their king in formation.
Once Mages marched through, in came the vehicle battalions that supported the mages. Tanks, Trucks, Jeeps, Battle Motorcycles, Armour Carriers and so on were seen moving through the streets.
And when that was done, a short wave of fireworks populated the skies to get people to s.h.i.+ft their attention to the magic screens where they saw the partially constructed Lyro was accompanied by a fleet of s.h.i.+ps anch.o.r.ed near the future Sea Fortress City of Lyro. They shot their guns in honour of Ress in unison and magic screen angles did not disappoint the citizens' antic.i.p.ation.
Only when the s.h.i.+ps were done flaunting their prowess, the people on the streets could finally hear the sounds of helicopters buzzing loudly through the city and flying low enough for everyone to feel the winds coming from the powerful rotors.
Next came the planes which Jin had given express permission to let them move through the skies unfettered, performing a few tricks on their own so that they could present an airshow if they wanted to.

And while all of these were happening the mages who were still marching to the Central Square started to float and fly in marching formation towards their allocated positions in the Square. Once all of the Mages Corps had shown their faces in front of Jin, the King finally stood up and walked towards the pedestal where he presented a short speech.
The speech was nothing special as he indicated how things had gone ever since he took over the mantle of the King and how Ress had grown stronger and more vibrant in this one year. It was the regular rhetorical most leaders used and Jin was not exactly the most fluent speaker they had ever seen. However, everyone knew the actions he had taken to make this city his own.
The hard work he and his team put in and the promises he made had always been delivered.
So regardless of how clumsy the speech was (considering how he said he wanted to do the speech himself rather than having En Moy do it), the citizens all clapped and cheered for him once the speech was done.
"And while I know that my speech is mainly the firestarter for the celebratory show that my governmental body had prepared for all of you, I do have one last surprise that we have been keeping," Jin said as he pointed his finger upwards and a portal appeared at the centre of Central Square.
Humanoid shaped golems started to fly out of the portal and they were seen positioning themselves on the roofs of the highrise buildings. Once landed, these metal golems started to show their huge weapons off and the people under Jin previously knew that they were the very same golems that the Goblins and Orcs had made.
Fortress Golems.
The only difference is that they are probably version number one hundred or so, considering their build seemed to be bulky and yet very agile compared to the older versions. (that was what Jin believed). The King of Ress was finally able to replicate these Golems with improvised smithing now that his skill was high enough.
It was to the point where the Goblins and Orcs were begging Jin to keep producing more for them since the resources they had were always restrained by the System. Meanwhile, Jin was ma.s.s producing them to the point that all the Goblins and Orcs needed to do was just redesign any flaws.
The citizens of Ress were in awe by this new addition of Golems into the ranks of their military and they knew that when the eventual day came, Ress could survive the fight.
Yet, none of them knew that their wishes… inadvertently came true as a huge magical timer suddenly appeared in the sky, counting down to midnight.
