When Qu Zhen woke up, her arms were empty, causing her heart to panic. Xia Man, who was acting strange last night, came back to her mind.
Qu Zhen got up and went downstairs in her pajamas. From the kitchen, the sound of Wu Ma cooking breakfast could be heard.
Qu Zhen searched the garden, but there was n.o.body there. There was n.o.body in the kitchen either.
"Wu Ma, have you seen Manman?" Qu Zhen went to the kitchen doorway and asked.
Xia Man looked back at Qu Zhen. "What's wrong?"
Qu Zhen looked at the smiling Xia Man, and her heart skipped a beat. "Why did you wake up so early?"
Xia Man smiled. "I couldn't sleep." After living in the apocalypse for so long, it really was impossible to sleep. It had long became habit.
Xia Man was wearing one of Wu Ma's ap.r.o.ns. Her long hair was tied into a loose bun, looking both angelic and endearing.
Xia Man smiled and looked at Qu Zhen. There was a feeling like that of a married couple's early morning, the wife making her lover breakfast.
Qu Zhen's heart was elated, but pained at the same time. She knew it was impossible, but just the thought of it already makes her happy.
The eggs in the frying pan sizzled, and a scent was emitted.
"Qu Zhen, go wash up, you can eat afterwards." Xia Man flipped an omelet and said.
Looking at Qu Zhen obediently was.h.i.+ng up, Xia Man's smile turned livelier, her mood stabilizing.
When Qu Zhen came out, Xia Man was done setting a breakfast for two. Qu Zhen looked at Xia Man, then a distressed look towards the plates. She untied the ap.r.o.n on Xia Man's body, but said nothing.
She knew how sensitive Xia Man was about her feet.
Because today was Youth Day on May 4th, the school will be holding an evening party, cla.s.ses were dismissed for the day.
"Qu Zhen, I'd like to go home and see my mom, so I probably won't be going to school today." Xia Man finished eating the omelet and said to Qu Zhen.
"I'll take you there." Xia Man's home was outside the city.
"No, I can do it myself. You have a performance tonight."
It was hard to notice without paying attention, but there was a hint of loss on Qu Zhen's face. Xia Man knew that Qu Zhen was worried, but she insisted to go by herself because she had to.
"Well, I used to let my driver send you back." Qu Zhen lowered her head and said while eating.
Xia Man nodded. She needed to be sent alone, but her foot was a problem.
Qu Zhen's driver was an intelligent-looking middle-aged man. After Xia Man went into the car, she waved her hand towards Qu Zhen and closed the window.
"Field food market." Xia Man spoke.
"…Didn't the Mistress say…?" The driver was a bit confused. Weren't they going to A City?
"I want to buy something for my family." Xia Man explained.
Today was May 4th, while the apocalypse will happen on May 10th, that is, on Children's Day. Xia Man could never forget, that in less than six days, a field of blood baptism will greet her.
She had discovered it last night. Her spatial ability followed. But because her state of mind was fluctuating too much, she didn't look inside.
She awaked her spatial ability before she was reborn, but she didn't tell anyone. Not even Qu Zhen.
She doesn't believe anyone. A person with spatial abilities could be the most valued person in a team, but could also be the biggest object of suspicion.
Because others wouldn't know what's in the s.p.a.ce.
Xia Man went to the largest field food market. There was only one thought in her mind: She wanted to buy as much dry food as she could, she'd never let Qu Zhen struggle and fend for herself! A desperate scene filled with zombies appeared on her mind.
Xia Man only had a small amount of cash. She came from an ordinary family, so she never lost track of her money. She used to only think about the fact that her parents almost never called her, ignoring the fact that, despite their average and below conditions, they always sent her money on time, and only more, never less. The previous Xia Man really didn't know any grat.i.tude.
Afterwards, when the apocalypse came, she stubbornly wanted to go back to the couple, only to realize how ridiculous her thoughts were…
Qu Zhen… Those two words came to her mind, and her heart began to ache.
Xia Man found a store that was selling in bulks.
"Boss, h.e.l.lo, how is the rice sale going?" Xia Man bent down and looked at a few large sacks of rice.
"Miss, what would you like?" The boss immediately stood up. These kinds of customers usually buy in large amounts.
"Not necessarily the best, but the one with the largest quant.i.ty. Which one?" Xia Man looked at the sacks of rice, her heart filled with joy. These will be able to save a lot of lives in the apocalypse.
The boss listened, "En, this one will satisfy your demand. There will be no problem in seven or eight years. How much would you like? I'll deliver them to you." When the boss walked out of the counter, he saw her injured foot.
Xia Man calculated the size or her s.p.a.ce and looked at the boss. "A hundred sacks are enough."
"A hundred sacks??" The boss looked at Xia Man with surprise, beginning to regret offering a door-to-door delivery service.
Xia Man nodded. "I'll pay the fare. How much is it?"
The boss calculated. "Seventy-five dollars a bag. A hundred bags plus the fare, a total of seven thousand and eight hundred dollars." The boss said with a smile. "We don't have that much in the store inventory, would you mind if we send it tomorrow?" He was worried that Xia Man might be offended, so he quickly added, "We'll send it by tomorrow morning!"
Xia Man shook her head. "I don't mind." She then took a pen. "Do you have a paper?"
"I do." The boss took a piece of paper and said, "You can write the address, we'll send it first thing in the morning."
Xia Man nodded, incidentally writing the time at the back of the paper. "The delivery time."
Since the s.p.a.ce is just a storage room, there was no way to store fresh vegetables and meat. So Xia Man just bought dry food.
Xia Man looked at the time.
When she got back into the car, the driver looked at Xia Man's hand and took a piece of wrapped bacon. After a few moments of surprise, he withdrew his gaze and continued driving, his face expressionless.
“Backwater Village.” Xia Man spoke.
The driver didn't say anything. Ever since Xia Man said she was going to the field food market, he already thought about Xia Man not returning to her hometown yet.
As soon as Xia Man entered her house, she locked the door and looked around the small room, a feeling of familiarity bubbling up.
Although Xia Man had just been back after so long, she didn't feel emotional. Her emotions were all streamed out yesterday, after all.
Xia Man touched the red dragonfly mark on her hand. In the next moment, she appeared in her s.p.a.ce.
This is…
Xia Man was shocked by the scene in front of her. What's happening?
She clearly remembered her storage s.p.a.ce being a traditional room with nothing more than four surrounding walls.
But now…
Xia Man stood on a lush green field and looked at the seemingly endless forest in front of her. There were even mountains. Xia Man blinked her eyes. Was she seeing things?
This was her slightly-above-hundred square-feet storage s.p.a.ce?
Xia Man suddenly remembered why she was entering the s.p.a.ce, but now that her hundred-square-feet storage s.p.a.ce became like this? How could she find that thing?
Previously, that person spent so much thoughts to obtain that thing.
As she knew it, when Qu Zhen gave it to her, it was thrown into her s.p.a.ce.
But where did it go?
