211. Yu Chen… (5)

Translator: Storm in a Teacup

She saw herself trapped in a sea of corpses, with blood flooding the earth and water, and even the sky seemed to be stained by blood. There were too many demons, as if it were impossible to kill them were. Her team was tricked into a trap by demons, where they were sieged in a valley, unable to escape.

In the end, she couldn’t remember how many demons she had killed. She only knew that only she and a monk were still alive in a team of one hundred cultivators. The blood-stained monk, with a cut on his face, turned back to her.

Yun Xiang asked loudly, “What’s your name?”

Fo Zi didn’t expect that she would ask such question. The fair-skinned baffled at first, and then lowered his head with a smile. He made an obeisance and said with a graceful, gentle manner, “My name is Yu Chen.”

Since then, she had joined hands with the monk and fought their way out of the valley. However, just when they were about to get out, they fell into an ambush again. Yun Xiang left the valley first, and suddenly she saw countless demons. For a split second she turned around and blocked an attack with her own body, pressing that light-complexioned monk down.

The shocked young monk was gazing at her, “Miss, you…”

“Shh.” Yun Xiang moved her finger, and several corpses flew towards the monk, covering his body. With blood gus.h.i.+ng out, she said, “Those demons haven’t noticed you. Just have this pill in your mouth, and they won’t detect your trace.”

The monk goggled at her, “Miss!”

Yun Xiang smile, “I am doomed anyway, but you still have chance to survive. It’s fortunate enough to go this far with you, and I bet there’s some special bond between us. My name is Yun Xiang, if you want to reciprocate, just burn incense for me every day.”

After a long silence, the monk said, “Do you have any dying wih?”

Yun Xiang said, “If you meet my master one day, please tell him that his disciple brings shame to him. My master is Mo Qianqiu, you certainly know him.”

The monk continued, “That’s all?”

Yun Xiang fell into silence and then forged a bereft smile, like a withering flower, “There is a bada.s.s. He had married but cheated me. I was deliberately trying to annoy him, so I came here to kill those demons. Maybe everything is destined. If you meet him someday, can you bring him my message?”

Some dim shock flashed across the monk’s eyes. He did not say anything, just pursing his lips.

Yun Xiang didn’t notice that and continued, “His name is Li Xiuchen.”

“Yu Chen!”

Yun Xiang cried out in grief and rushed forward recklessly. However, the Sphinx demon trampled its giant foot on the ground, with thick blood oozing from the bottom of its foot and soon spreading into a pool of blood, contaminating the soil into a dazzling crimson color.

Yun Xiang, nearly mad, attacked the giant foot of the Sphinx demon with spiritual power. She cried bitterly, as if she wanted to cry out all the broken things in her body. She knew clearly that she could not hurt the Sphinx demon, but she used all her strength to attack it constantly.

At the end, she had used the power of primordial life. After each attack, she would gush out blood, but the Sphinx demon had not made any move yet.

The Sphinx demon enjoyed this scene with great interest and laughed. Yun Xiang ignored it-she unflinchingly faced death and continued to attack it.

Her attack was no more than tickling for the demon, but she repeated tirelessly.

Her black gauze skirt was soaked with blood, so was her beautiful face. She attacked with all her primordial life power, and murmured as if she were in a nightmare: “Yu Chen, Yu Chen…”

“I don’t know him, I don’t like him, I don’t really like him…”

“Yun Chen, where are you, Yu Chen…”

“Yu Chen, Yu Chen, Yu Chen…”

She recalled the past few years spent with him-she sneaked into the Cen State and came to the Gui Yuan Sect, ringing the bell that she had once given the monk. But the young monk dared not to go down the hill, which made her angrier. She rang the bell harder for a whole night.

When it’s almost dawn, she finally saw the young monk.

“Why don’t you come down to me?”

“Then why did you come here?”

“I…I just come for you.”

“I’m deeply flattered.”

“Don’t you think you should invite me to your house?”

“That’s improper and immoral.”

“You!”

Another bright-moon night, she slipped into the Gui Yuan Sect again. The young and gentle monk just looked at her speechlessly. He couldn’t persuade her to give up, nor could he give her any answer.

She finally got angry: “Do you like me or not?”

Under the moonlight, the fine-skinned monk gazed at her with a complicated look. He made an obeisance to her and said in a long, low voice, “By loves living distress, by loves living terror. I have converted to Buddhism for a long time, why take the trouble to ask me.”

The beautiful Fiend girl was overwhelmed by anger and beat him, while the tender young monk just bore it quietly.

She never went to meet him every after until the collapse of the Ku Mountain.

Might I never see you again?

Yun Xiang kept attacking the Sphinx demon numbly. With the exhaustion of her primordial life power, her body gradually became cold. Her hair started to turn white from the ends, and in a trice, all the black hair turned into snowy color. The girl was still beautiful, yet her old friend was long gone. She sat in the pool of warm blood, gazing at the place under the demon’s foot. She even had no strength to cry anymore, just gazing with gla.s.sy-eyed, muttering that name, the simple two characters, which could burn her spirit. She just repeated the name unconsciously-

“Yu Chen…”

Everyone said the world of mortals was full of affliction.

They called it the inexorable doom, but after all, it was them that created this doom out of willingness.

“Yun Chen!”
