Chapter 18
Rong Yi, with his alcohol-soaked brain, couldn't turn around.
“What's true?”
Chen Keyao didn't answer but moved his eyes to Zhou Li.
Zhou Li slept silently and didn't move. If Rong Yi hadn't been carrying him earlier and known that he was warm, he would have suspected Zhou Li to be a corpse.
Rong Yi followed Chen Keyao's gaze and also stared at the corpse-like Zhou Li. He looked at him for a moment before looking up. “Why do you stare at him? Rude.”
“I…” Chen Keyao looked away awkwardly. “I was wondering, he…”
Rong Yi didn't wait for him to finish and strode up to him. “How are you standing like this?”
“Huh?” Chen Keyao was full of question marks. Although he was leaning against the door frame, in the eyes of Rong Yi, he was standing straight.
“What are you doing in my room so late?” Rong Yi continued to point at him. “What do you want?”
Chen Keyao hesitated. “…This is my house, isn't it?”
“Oh, yeah.” Rong Yi nodded and walked back to the room. After a while, he suddenly felt not quite right and turned to rush back. “I pay the rent! Regional autonomy!”
Chen Keyao stared at him for a while and smiled. “Did you also drink too much?”
Rong Yi shook his head. “I did not.”
“If you say so,” Chen Keyao said as he turned and walked towards the door. “Drinking too much, rest early and be careful not to make trouble.”
Rong Yi felt that his thoughts were particularly clear, and immediately found the contradiction in this guy's two sentences.
He immediately chased him up. “I drank, but I didn't drink much.”
Chen Keyao lowered his head and changed his shoes. “Well well well, not much.”
Rong Yi was finally satisfied and wanting to go back to his room, took two steps forward before hearing the sound of the door opening again. “Where are you going?”
"The convenience store downstairs," Chen Keyao said, "Don't lock the door, I'll be back soon."
Rong Yi thought for a while, then also went to the door and began to put on his shoes. “I'll also go.”
Chen Keyao wanted to prevent this very much. “Don't go, what do you want to buy? Tell me and I'll help you.”
While Chen Keyao was speaking, Rong Yi had changed his shoes onto his hands.
He felt that he was sane, fluent in thinking, and was moving freely. He did not have any symptoms of drunkenness at all. He couldn't understand what Chen Keyao was struggling with.
“I can go by myself!” Rong Yi stood up and walked out of the house. He stood in front of Chen Keyao and raised his hand. “Go!”
As he walked into the lift and pressed the floor b.u.t.ton, he was quickly followed by Chen Keyao. He looked at Rong Yi with a sighing expression and in the end, even after the two had walked into the lift, they'd not spoken a word.
“Do you think this lift is a little shaky?” Rong Yi stood in the middle of the lift and asked with a frown.
Chen Keyao looked at him with a subtle expression. “…I think so… a little bit.”
Rong Yi silently retreated to the wall and pressed himself against it tightly. “Scary.”
Chen Keyao didn't say anything but quietly turned his head.
Outside the building, a cold wind blew on the hot skin, making Rong Yi feel very refreshed and greatly improving his mood.
He took the initiative to talk to Chen Keyao. “What are you going to buy in the middle of the night?”
“I'm hungry, so I'm buying something to eat,” Chen Keyao said, “I sleep late so the meal you usually make for me is lunch.”
“Why are you sleeping late?” Rong Yi asked again.
"Got used to it," Chen Keyao said, "my biological clock is like this."
Rong Yi looked at him. “Why would you get used to it?”
“…”
Chen Keyao ignored him.
"Why would you get used to it?" Rong Yi continued to ask.
“Because…” Chen Keyao glanced at him. “If I bathe every morning in the first light of day and fall asleep for three hundred years, I can become an immortal.”
After listening, Rong Yi couldn't understand and stopped moving.
Chen Keyao looked back at Rong Yi who was standing in the same place with a crooked thinking appearance and smiled. “Keep up.”
Two people entered the convenience store. Chen Keyao walked to the freezer to buy a late night snack, and Rong Yi stood in front of the checkout counter, staring at the various candies on the shelf.
He felt a bit dry and his throat was not comfortable. He wanted to buy some mints or chewing gum. But now the rows of square boxes were looking a little strange, and his impressions of the brands he often bought were not right.
After frowning in confusion for a while, Chen Keyao came back with a rice ball.
Rong Yi reached out, pulled him to his side, and then pointed his chin to the shelf in front of him.
“Which do you think is the best?”
“…”
“Haven't you ever eaten gum?”
Chen Keyao looked at the shelf, looked at his face, then carefully shook his head. “…No.”
If this wasn't mentioned early on, it would have been a real waste of emotions.
Rong Yi no longer took any mind of him and reached out to pick up a small box. After looking at it, he asked the cas.h.i.+er standing at the counter, “What's the best flavour in this brand?”
The cas.h.i.+er hesitated. “Although I haven't tried it, it shouldn't be very good… Sir, you can look at the row below, that one has all kinds of flavours.”
After finis.h.i.+ng, he glanced at Chen Keyao.
Chen Keyao immediately moved two steps to the side. It was only when Rong Yi was left far behind that he handed over the rice ball. “Heat it up, please.”
Rong Yi bent over and looked at the next row of shelves and saw a box with a variety of food patterns printed on it. He thought about it, picked a strawberry flavoured box, grabbed a bottle c.o.ke, and handed it all over to the cas.h.i.+er.
After walking out of the convenience store, Chen Keyao's expression was very subtle.
“Everyone is sleeping, why do you want to be so active?”
“Ah?” Rong Yi didn't understand.
At the same time, he smoothly ripped open the packaging of the box of gum he'd just bought and handed it to Chen Keyao.
“You want to one?”
“…”
Chen Keyao very obviously swallowed some spittle.
How come this person was suddenly so polite, he was obviously very greedy.
Rong Yi was a little annoyed. He took a piece from the box and handed it to Chen Keyao.
“Well, try it.”
Every piece of gum was wrapped individually, how exquisite.
After he handed Chen Keyao one, he took another one out of the box and began to chew.
Chen Keyao looked at him with horror.
“What are you doing?”
Rong Yi frowned and chewed, not responding.
Chen Keyao looked at him with an open mouth for a moment and asked, “…is it good?”
“Not good,” Rong Yi shook his head. “The cas.h.i.+er lied to me.”
“…”
"The taste is especially strange, it's a bit slippery and greasy." Rong Yi spat out the chewed product from his mouth. "A bit disgusting."
Chen Keyao looked down at the flat square package that had just been forcibly stuffed into his hand.
“You also shouldn't eat it. Get rid of it,” said Rong Yi, walking to the bin. “It's too bad.”
A sudden burst of laughter came from behind.
Looking back, he saw that Chen Keyao was squatting on the ground, laughing out of breath. It seemed that even tears were coming out.
“What's the matter?”
Chen Keyao seemed to want to say something, but couldn't stop laughing and was not even able to stand straight. He could only wave his hand at him with his eyes closed.
“Are you crazy?”
The response was still a series of laughs to the sound of cramping.
“Don't laugh,” he said, stretching his hands out to carefully maintain his balance. “You're laughing so badly that your body is starting to shake!”
Chen Keyao, who had just received a scolding, looked up at him and then lowered his head again. His whole person was trembling.
It was really baffling.
Rong Yi no longer cared for him, and carefully walked like he was on a single-plank bridge towards the bin and tried to throw away this unpalatable chewing gum.
He finally arrived at the bin, and just as he was about to throw away his gum, he was suddenly pulled from behind by Chen Keyao.
“Don't throw it away, it's a waste.” Chen Keyao continued to laugh while he was talking. “Save the rest for now.”
“It's really hard to eat,” Rong Yi very seriously told him.
“I beg you, just keep it for one more night.” Chen Keyao's expression was distorted. “Throw it away tomorrow, okay?”
“Why?”
“You'll know tomorrow.”
After Chen Keyao finished the last word, he began to laugh like a maniac, laughing and slapping his thigh.
Rong Yi stared at him for a moment, then threw the box of unpleasant chewing gum into the bag he was carrying.
“That's for you.”
Rong Yi felt that Chen Keyao's spirit was not normal.
But at this moment when the lift was as crazy as a swing, this less than normal man was his only recourse.
“You, help me,” Rong Yi asked him for help as his face became painfully close to the wall. “It's too scary.”
Chen Keyao laughed as he reached out and said, “No, why did you have to buy more wine?”
“What wine?” Rong Yi tugged at his sleeves tightly.
Chen Keyao pointed with his finger. “The one in your hand!”
Rong Yi raised his hand and looked at it. He was puzzled.
He remembered that he had bought this bottle of c.o.ke from the convenience store. But looking at the c.o.ke in his hand, the packaging looked a bit like fruit wine.
He whispered, “Who gave me this package?”
“…” Chen Keyao continued to laugh.
Rong Yi looked back at him. “It was you!”
“No.” Chen Keyao smiled and shook his head.
“There's only you here,” he said, looking at him seriously. “It must be you!”
“…” Chen Keyao didn't know whether to laugh or cry and eventually nodded. “Okay, it was me.”
“You're the one…” Rong Yi immediately stepped forward, but before he could finish, his footsteps and tone of voice fell together.
After losing the support of the wall, his whole world began to spin again. Rong Yi was completely unsteady, with two steps to the left and two steps to the right. Eventually, Chen Keyao's “be careful” fell forward.
Chen Keyao originally stretched out his hand and tried to help him, but was immediately hit and fell back. The two men fell against the wall together.
Rong Yi's head finally had some support. At that moment, his heart was very stable, and he felt that the body in front of him was very warm and reliable, so he subconsciously reached out and hugged.
The small half bottle of fruit wine fell to the ground and rolled to the other side of the lift.
Just as it stopped in the corner of the lift, the doors opened.
“…That,” Chen Keyao was at a loss. “We're here.”
Rong Yi nodded. “Oh.”
Then he laughed with his head down.
“…What are you doing?” Chen Keyao's voice was very tense.
“You, holding me, it's so comfortable,” he said, “It's especially comfortable.”
In the quiet lift, the doors automatically closed.
The comfortable Rong Yi soon became sleepy, so he simply closed his eyes. But just before he was able to drift off, the stiff-necked guy who was holding him suddenly pushed him away.
Ron Yi who was pushed to the lift wall dizzily shook his head. Then he found that Chen Keyao was crazily slamming the open door b.u.t.ton on the control panel. When the lift doors opened, the man immediately rushed out without heading back.
Rong Yi leaned against the wall for a while and then wobbled out. Then, he found the guy standing on the corner of the corridor.
Chen Keyao was holding the handrail with a bent waist and was vomiting.
