It was already dark when Yoona and Tomovoy left the mansion. Yoona took her time in preparing herself to the best of her ability, not exactly knowing what kind of clothes is fit to be in outdoors in this world.
Tomovoy also mentioned that the real beauty of Odora is only visible, and well appreciated, at night.
The vast majority of species, except a few, are nocturnal, beings who thrived more by night compared to the usual daytime activities.
Thanks to the Tomovoy who can manipulate the s.p.a.ce around him, they've easily arrived in the village through teleportation, even though it was quite a far from the mansion.
"Wow! Truly a useful gift!" Yoona exclaimed.
She was in awe by what she was seeing so far. It was like a blast of wind had pa.s.sed, blinding her vision momentarily and the next thing, she was in a village, a sea of colors.
"If I had this ability, I wouldn't have had to go through all the trouble every morning to make it to cla.s.s." She elaborated. Realizing her mistake, Yoona winced, turning away so
Tomovoy wouldn't notice.
“What?”
“Oh, nothing.” She laughed nervously and turned to the village in a hurry. The place truly was much more beautiful and magical than what she had expected. Under the brightly lit amber lights, people of different firms gathered.
It was truly a magical place.
A place she thought only existed in novel fantasies or fairytale books.
Despite the late hour, the market was crowded with people. They were all a variety of wonderful faces, as well as personalities. Some had horns, others a lower body of a horse, some with batwings, and others a hairy body. Of course, majority looked just like Tomovoy and Wicked, like normal people.
With all the variety of living species in Odora, it is only logical as well to have varying houses or abodes adorning the place.
There were houses shaped like round tombs, houses made of mud, others had houses made of jellies and fruits. Schools, hospitals and public amenities such as libraries and parks didn't disappoint as well. They were all just as large and just as colorful. The unidentified features made her confused but she liked what she saw nonetheless.
Nights in Korea were a lonely and scary, but here it was lively and quite spectacular. She was eager to see more.
One shop caught her attention. It was filled with varieties of sweets.
“What are these?”
“Oh, those are candies that grow hair instantly when you eat it. Children usually buy those for fun on Halloweens. ”
“And this?”
“It is silk spider silk thread. It's highly viscous and sticky, and once it sticks, it will never fall off. It is often used as a hunting trap.”
Exploring a little further into the night, Yoona approached several more stores and studied various fortune-teller items. She even drank a drink from the fruit named Raja, which gave her an indescribable feeling, delighting her all the more.
She have asked questions and received many answers about their food, what the exquisite things were, and plenty more.
Then, an enormous number of people arrived at the store, where Tomovoy lined up to buy the ” cloud snack, ” the ” best seller in the store. ” Two men drew near her, waiting by the bench as well as she waited for Tomovoy to finish his purchase.
“Are you alone?” One of them spoke to her. His voice was raspy and eyes showed benevolence. They looked like trouble, Yoona thought.
“No, I have company.” Yoona answered curtly as her eyes searched for Tomovoy among the crowd.
Where the h.e.l.l was he?!
“We don't see anyone sweetheart.”
With a sly smile, he sat beside her and put his arm around her.
“Perhaps, you could give us some of your time?” Her hands began to sweat. She really didn't know how to handle these kind of situations. Nonetheless, she gave a haughty look to the man.
“Pardon but I was taught not to trust strangers.”
“Very picky, I see.” Then, he looked at the man beside him with a smirk.
Both men gave off the gangster-vibe of the place.
“See that building over there? The party will start anytime from now. We need to bring company but unfortunately, we don't have one.”On cue, the other man added. “Isn't it interesting to say that we're going to give special drinks made out of the finest gelatos tonight?”
“It's not interesting at all. If you'll excuse me, I have to go.” She stood up, eager to get away and look for Tomovoy, only she didn't know where to start looking. She didn't doesn't wantto party with strange men. She just wanted to see what the world looked like for a moment, so she came out to enjoy the air.
But before she could take a step away, the man spoke again.
“It's expensive I may add.”
“This is a tough year after all. And girls like you usually buy it.” The other one said.
She couldn't leave; the men were blocking her way.
“I said no.” Her face was already beet red and she looked straight at them in the eye.
The men laughed at her change of demeanor.
“Hey lady, aren't you being alone at this hour meant you are finding patrons?”
“Patrons? What the h.e.l.l are you talking about?”
At her confusion, the men broke out into a throaty laugh.
“Aye pal, you see? Witches really think so high of themselves, when their kind had been selling flesh for years!” they snickered to each other.
“You are not worth my time. If you have a party, then go find someone else to accompany your sorry a.s.ses.”
At least, I am not what these guys say I am.
“Such perverted minds you have, fit for the low life you live.”
She was angry. These men irked her, like p.o.o.p she would never want to be stuck at the soles of her shoes, very appalling even.
“What a cheeky girl you are!” One of the men grabbed her wrist and inched his face closer to hers, so close that Yoona could smell the stench of his breath, probably from the habit of drinking alcoholic liquors.
“You witches are rolling around bucks and you're getting recognition for that. The cheap image is only right for you. Where should you put the blame to?”
“You're crazy.”
Her free hand went out in a moment. Small fragile hand slapped the man on the cheek without hesitation. As soon as the man was. .h.i.t, he fell far back – too far, almost like he flew.
Yoona was astonished, dumbfounded by her own strength and she could only watch the man writhe in pain as he landed hard on his back.
“You crazy b.i.t.c.h!”
The other man began to charge at Yoona, but the fists which were ridiculously hitting the air didn't even touch her hair. She reflexively avoided the man's blows. The man's fists were clearly red and strong, but seemed very slow to the child's eyes. It's like the speed at which a ball flew towards her whenever she played dodgeball with her cla.s.smates. She avoided it without difficulty, reflective nerves overwhelmed by the power of evil.
“You b.i.t.c.h! We know who you are!” The other man said and lunged at Yoona as well. she
dodged, amazed by her reflexes. No matter how many hits he tried to land on her, all she could see was the slow movements of his hands, which allowed her to continuously avoid getting hit. Adrenaline was rus.h.i.+ng through her veins.
He threw one last punch at her, and just like his other punches, she simply dodged it as well. Finally, she swung her hand once more and just like the other one, he got thrown away. As she witness once more just how strong she was compared to the other two, she couldn't help but let out a laugh of amazement. All their manly bravado before was nothing but a lump of mess now.
"Would you look at that. I guess you were all bark and no bite after all." She taunted.
It was an exhilarating feeling, being this… powerful. Pity she hadn't discovered this ability earlier. Judging nothing else was left to be done, she turned to leave them be. Her business with them was done and over with.
That was until she saw something fly towards her.
