At first, the old lady was gawking at the sofa drenched in blood before letting off a sigh as if mourning over the never-coming baby. She leaned against her walking stick as Huo Yunting got up from his seat, “I’ll go check them out.”

The corridor was silent as Zhaoyang fell upon the waiting seat next to her. She wheezed while staring idly at Huo Zhenning who was covered in blood. He was walking back and forth impatiently.

Nevertheless, it had only been 30 minutes before the doctors exited the surgery room.

Zhaoyang jumped up from her seat the moment she heard the clatter of the door. She darted towards the masked doctor, “How is my mother?” She grabbed his hands.

“Um—We are very sorry but Mrs.Huo had already lost the child the moment she arrived by the hospital. We only performed a curettage to clean her uterus up while removing the dead baby,” announced the doctor with his eyes on Huo Zhenning.

“You mean—it’s gone?” Asked Huo Zhenning in disbelief.

“We have tried out best, Mr. Huo, but it was already gone when your wife came here. We are truly sorry about this. It is expected since Mrs. Huo is an elderly parturient after all.” The doctor was remorseful. It was really beyond their capabilities at that point.

“What caused it? Don’t tell me all these elderly or advanced age excuses. There has to be a proper explanation for this!” Huo Zhenning blew up.

“We are investigating this. A result is probably coming soo-” Zhaoyang slammed open the door to surgery room before she was choked by the stench of her mother’s blood. Xue Yuming was pale, wheezing weakly as the nurses transferred to the ward. Lu Zhaoyang quickly tailed after her and stopped by the angry old man arguing with the doctor, she interrupted, “Doctor, do you know when will my mother wake up?”

The doctor shook his head upon glimpsing at Xue Yuming, “I can’t really tell. A miscarriage is always very devastating to the mother. It’s normal for one to remain unconscious for a few days.”

“A—a few days?” Her one hand was gripping the bed’s edge tightly.

“It’s very dangerous after all,” added the doctor.

“She will be fine! She will be fine!” Huo Zhenning muttered, reaffirming himself as he led with the nurses to the ward. Huo Yunting sighed and followed.

In the ward, Lu Zhaoyang a.s.sisted the nurses to place her fainted mother onto a clean bed.

The heart rate monitor was beeping sluggishly as she was biting her lips. Her eyes filled with tears and confusion. Her ears drowned in the doctor’s words a moment ago.

“It’s very dangerous after all.”

“Mrs. Huo had already lost the child the moment she arrived by the hospital.”

“We have tried our best.”

“It’s normal for one to remain unconscious for a few days.”
