Inside the office.

Six people were shouting inside.

They barged into Dong Xuebing’s office and started questioning him. The 40 million RMB fund made everyone crazy.

“Mayor Dong! Just say the word!”

“Our village must receive the money today!”

“The villagers are going to tear down our buildings!”

“We are not leaving if we don’t get the funds today.”

The village leaders raised their voices. The door was opened, and many County Government staff gathered outside. Some called the security.

Dong Xuebing suppressed his anger and said. “I told you I don’t know about your village’s situation, and you must send your application. It is useless to come to me. Go and talk to your Towns.h.i.+p and ask them to send in an application report.”

The old man said. “We called the Finance Department, and they refused to issue the fund.”

Dong Xuebing said. “The Finance Department must review your application. They will not issue the funds based on what you say. Go back and wait for news.”

“We cannot wait any longer.”

The old man was furious. “We will go to the Central Government if we don’t get the funds.”

Dong Xuebing pointed at him and shouted at the County Government staff members outside. “Call Secretary Yao over. I also need a driver from the transport department!”

Yao Cui ran over a few moments later. “Are you looking for me, Mayor Dong?”

A driver from the transport department followed behind. He was confused.

Dong Xuebing pointed at those villagers. “Xiao Yao! I am giving you a mission. Send these villagers to the Central Government by car now.”

The villagers were stunned.

Yao Cui and the driver were shocked.

Dong Xuebing looked at these villagers coldly. “I am saying this now. You all must go today, no matter what!” He turned to Yao Cui. “Send them now!”

Mayor Dong is mad.

The village leaders got scared.

The old man was still angry but dared not say another word.

Yao Cui looked at the villagers. “Please come with me.”

The villagers do not dare to go. They were only making empty threats.”

Dong Xuebing ignored them and said to Yao Cui. “Give me their Town Mayor’s number.”

Yao Cui took out her phone and called the Town Mayor before pa.s.sing her phone to Dong Xuebing.

“Ah, Mayor Dong. Good afternoon.”

Dong Xuebing started scolding. “You dare to instigate your village leaders to come and create trouble at the County Government! What are you doing? Huh? Xu Xuelong was mad and wanted to retort. But he saw Dong Xuebing’s face and kept quiet.

Dong Xuebing calmed down a little after scolding them. When he was about to drink water, he saw a group of people downstairs. One of them was Chen Xiaomei, who had left earlier. Five men surrounded her, and they were complaining to her. She tried to leave but failed.

Dong Xuebing knew those people were asking for money.

Dong Xuebing’s anger rose again.

He turned and stormed out of his office. He went downstairs and out of the office building.

Yao Cui quickly followed.

A few County Government staff members followed.

“Chief Chen. You must give me an answer today.”

“Old Chen, you know our difficulties. The County has so much money. Why is it so difficult to give us one million RMB?”

“Xiao Chen, please check our application. Why is it not approved?”

“Stop trying to push us away. This is a small matter. I brought the application form with me. You need to sign it.”

Chen Xiaomei replied. “I cannot decide this.”

One of them got mad. “Who else can decide?”

Dong Xuebing reached them. “I can decide. You all can talk to me.”

All of them were overjoyed when they saw Mayor Dong. “Mayor Dong. We were about to look for you.”

“Our department had applied for a few days. When can we get the money? Everyone is waiting.” A Culture Bureau leader asked.

Chen Xiaomei was relieved. She could finally leave. “Mayor Dong.”

Dong Xuebing nodded and looked at them. “Did you all bring your doc.u.ments?”

“Yes. We brought them.” These leaders were here to ask for money, and they brought their application doc.u.ments with them.

Dong Xuebing looked at the doc.u.ments.

The Culture Bureau wants to build a new family quarter.

These requests are nonsense! They are wasting the funds.

Dong Xuebing extended his hand to Chen Xiaomei. “Do you have a pen?”

Dong Xuebing started writing and signing the doc.u.ments.

The leaders thought Dong Xuebing was approving their applications and were smiling.

But their face changed when Dong Xuebing returned the doc.u.ments to them.

They saw what Dong Xuebing wrote at the bottom of their application forms. “Rejected.”

The commotion attracted many people.

Many staff members and leaders were watching from their windows.

Dong Xuebing said to the leaders in front of him. “Are you all too free? This is working hours. You are not working and coming here to ask for money. It’s fine if it is once or twice. “Mayor Dong. I am the Education Bureau’s Old Zheng. I am asking if we can get the funds within these few days. The teachers' training is essential. The children’s education is critical and cannot be delayed. We must increase our teachers’ abilities to improve our education system.” He was repeating what Dong Xuebing had said in the meeting.

“What about your education fund?”

“We used them up, and there’s not much left.”
