Thank you so much!

"It is time to get up, my lady."

Had anyone ever woken me up so sweetly in my entire life?

It wasn't one of those morning calls telling me to get up and go to work. It wasn't an alarm saying I like Mondays, either.

If somebody's waking me up with such caring voice, it must mean that this is a dream.

'Living as a maid makes me dream about being a lady, I see.'

Odd. They say that dreams are projections of a person's inner desire; did I yearn for that kind of life?

'I feel strange having a dream like this.'

Just when I was feeling astonished at myself becoming an established maid acknowledged by all my coworkers and when the only place I've ever cleaned before in my life was my own house.

Every day, I would walk around at daybreak carefully placing each step like a duck, lest I should wake my aristocratic employers.

I guess I should probably wake up even if this is a dream.

'Why did I have a dream like this……'

I forced myself awake and opened my eyes.

Ugh, it's time to work.

I stretched my arms and gave myself a light pat on my cheeks to get rid of the drowsiness.

Perhaps this was still a dream. But, the mirage of the butler was standing politely in front of me.

"The lady is awake. Prepare the water to wash her face."

This isn't a dream?

I blankly stared at the butler with my drowsy eyes.

I pa.s.sed off the part where he called me 'lady' as an auditory hallucination.

Why did a butler come to wake me up?

He was the old butler in a black tailcoat.

"Ex, excuse me?"

I was so shocked that my voice came out all cracked up.

The butler would have been startled if he heard my normal voice which was slightly low, quite unlike Lienna's clear voice. But, my voice at the moment just slightly cracked.

It's too bad!

I wanted to sleep a bit longer. I wanted to sleep early and wake up late using the fact that I've turned into a child to my advantage!

I gulped down my tears as I looked with my eyes open wide at the butler who had come to give me work to do.

The butler had a towel that looked expensive hanging on his arm.

He was even forcibly keeping the sides of his mouth fixed downward as he tried to suppress his laughter.

He was Aberto, the butler of the Yekart mansion.

He turned fifty this year. He was in charge of managing the entire mansion as well as supervising the servants.

There were lower-grade butlers who were in charge of managing the dishes or liquor. But they were subject to the meticulous inspection of this imposing butler in charge of all affairs.

Anyway, having Alberto, who we maids referred to as the tiger butler, trying hard not to laugh at me was a very strange sight.

I saw him from time to time working but it wasn't very often that I came across him since he had quite a high rank among the servants.

When the maids came across him, they greeted him briskly and left swiftly.

If they stayed around in front of him out of politeness, they were sure to be scolded.

Being a perfectionist, the butler always had an angry look or a grumpy expression on his face like something was not up to his standards every time I saw him.

"It is time to wake up, my lady."

The butler waited until I got up.

He didn't forcibly try to get me up, perhaps trying to stick to his strict rule of not laying a finger on a woman's body.

But something wasn't right.

'Lady?'

I was confused as to why he was using such respectful words, but I just a.s.sumed he was out of his mind.

'Alright, let's get back to work.'

I still had to make a living, even though I turned into a kid.

I should get up, peel onions, and trim some potatoes. I should also find some natural alternative to baking soda.

Hm?

I had just gotten up in bed when three maids lined up in front of me.

There was also one of my colleagues among them.

I almost fell out of the bed, surprised by the orderly movements of the maids.

My colleagues who used to shake their heads saying that I'm a workaholic were staring flat at the ground, unable to meet my eyes.

"This is Lady Ciel Visenna from the northern region, far away."

What is this?

Hiccup.

I was so surprised that I tried to take a deep breath and ended up hiccuping.

What in the world! I don't even have a last name because I wasn't a n.o.ble.

Wha, What? Visenna?

I repeated the familiar name in my head, thinking I must have misheard it.

"Oh G.o.d. she's from that Visenna family…"

The maid that blurted out the words quickly covered her mouth after realizing her mistake.

"This lady is……"

I was just as surprised as the maids were.

"Dear me."

Gasp.

The maids who were my coworkers took deep breaths.

The lady in front of them was a very young child, too small to be called a lady.

Their expressions which at first seemed to say 'Aw, so cute,' turned serious.

"M, mister butler……"

There were even some who were calling the butler with an uneasy look.

I was even more surprised than the maids.

The Visenna family!

They say that children will stop crying at the mention of the name.

There were rumors saying even n.o.bles fighting over who's better than the other would quietly hold hands when someone from the Visenna family showed up.

They were that infamous.

Visenna family was a Duke's family in the Zebril Empire that I lived in.

The Zebril Empire was ruled by the royal family of Ricardo, and it was only natural that aristocrats were to show loyalty to the royal family.

However, the Visenna family was not.

They were an arrogant bunch who would have laughed at the notion of loyalty.

They were also the kind of people who questioned why they should pledge their loyalty to some weak, pretty royalty who just sat in golden chairs.

The royalties who were said to be blessed by G.o.d were not weak, but they couldn't be compared to the monsters at the Visenna family.

The Visennas were people who would squash power that high rank aristocrats built up to an amazing height like a fly.

Surprisingly, the Visenna family has only been around for less than a hundred years.

To be precise, it had only been 20 years since they became part of the Empire.

Compared to the five hundred year renown of the Zebril Empire, Visenna had a short history. Despite this, they were particularly arrogant.

The reason for this was that the Visennas were from outside the Empire.

They were not just well-known in the Zebril Empire; the word Vienna was known across the entire continent as an infamous p.r.o.noun.

They used to be a group of a.s.sa.s.sins, but they worked their way around the rules and were incorporated into the n.o.bility of the Empire.

Interestingly, the Visenna clan was not based on blood ties, but rather on abilities.

Aristocrats in general look down on illegitimate children and value bloodline; on the other hand, if the Visennas saw a beggar pa.s.sing by who had high potential for magic, they would immediately take him into the family.

And they would do whatever it takes to make them loyal to the family.

It was fortunate that they only had 20 years of history; if it were 200 years, they would have built a country and more.

'Obstinate bunch.'

I marveled as I shook my head.

"That Visenna……"

The maids' faces were filled with terror.

They faltered and stepped backwards when they heard that I was a part of the Vienna clan.

Hanna, no!

I've only just found out today!

Unlike the maids whose faces were turning pale like The Scream by Munch, the Butler Alberto was excessively calm.

Even I would have kept my nose in the floor like a sinner if a n.o.bility from the Visenna clan visited the mansion.

Why?

They were the type of people who would slice your head off just for looking at them in the eye.

Of course, this was a story that I heard from my friend's sibling's cousin's acquaintance who works as a maid in the Visenna clan.

The butler bowed his head before I could even stop him.

Then he tutted softly and told the maids.

"Everyone, greet the Lady Ciel Visenna."

The maids bowed their heads down like domino.

'Why are they doing this?'

I couldn't lift my head because of embarra.s.sment.

I wanted to demand to know when I had suddenly become a lady, but I decided to play along.

My opinion did not count here.

If I sabotage this act right now, there's no knowing what might happen to me after.

"Hi everyone!"

The maids all froze up at my brisk greeting.

They kept in perfect silence like training monks.

Do they think it's rude that a child is talking down to them?

At first, I thought my coworkers plotted this with the butler to make fun of me.

'Are they angry that I'm pretending to be a lady?'

Gasp!

"Han, Hanna!"

But that wasn't it.

One of my former fellow maids pa.s.sed out, foaming at the mouth.

"Hanna!"

I jolted up, watching my colleague faint.

The maid who was supporting Hanna, perhaps feeling threatened by my action, rapidly moved backward. As if doing the moonwalk.

"The lady put a curse on Hanna!"

"Maybe she called her name to put a curse on her!"

N, no. no!

Don't look at me like that! I didn't do a thing!

They were looking at me with terrified eyes, as if looking at a true monster.

Except one butler who was pressing his temple as if his head was throbbing.
