Mo Zhi had been beaten to pulp and could not move. Mo Xicheng, on the other hand, was slumped against s.h.i.+ Nianyao’s shoulder.

s.h.i.+ Nianyao was not in much better shape than the two men.

Frowning, he held his head as he tried to sit up. Then he heard s.h.i.+ Nianyao’s anxious voice, “Don’t move!”

Mo Xicheng froze.

Turning slightly, he saw s.h.i.+ Nianyao das.h.i.+ng up to him and supporting him. “The doctor says you’ve got a mild concussion. You have to move slowly when you get up from the bed.”

Mo Xicheng paused for a moment as he looked at her.

After a night’s rest, s.h.i.+ Nianyao was back to normal.

The bruise on her face had gone down after applying ice on it, and the angry red slap mark was only vaguely visible.

Grabbing her hand, Mo Xicheng asked, “How are you doing?”

It wasn’t his own condition that he was worried about the moment he woke up. Rather, he was worried about her. s.h.i.+ Nianyao’s heart overflowed with sugary sweetness as she quickly replied, “I’m ok.”

Then she furrowed his brow and looked at him, explaining,v”You had an accident last night, it was horrific. When you were sent into the hospital, the doctor took a look and said that you were risking your life. How could you be so careless about yourself?”

She then said fearfully, “If your accident had been more serious… I wouldn’t know what to do.”

Upon hearing this, Mo Xicheng took her hand and said, “I’m fine.”

She nodded, looked at the door and said, “My big brother will be coming over in a bit. Just so you know, I told him on the phone earlier that I was with you last night and we had an accident. So don’t say anything otherwise.”

Mo Xicheng was stunned upon hearing these words.

He stared at s.h.i.+ Nianyao and understood why she had done that.

There was no need for her to cover up for Mo Zhi for the sake of her reputation.

Her fear, rather, was that her family would hold the Mo family accountable and Mo Xicheng would be caught in the middle.

At this thought, a wave of emotions washed over him.

He looked at s.h.i.+ Nianyao in silence.

Right at this time, there was a knock on the door. Following this, s.h.i.+ Xun walked into the room with Tian Tian following behind.
