Sheng Yize chuckled in amus.e.m.e.nt, his smile mesmerizing.

“That used to be the case, but not anymore.” Raising himself on one elbow, he played with a lock of An Xiaxia’s black hair. “Once you’re back at the Song family, you become the heiress. You no longer get to decide your life and marriage.”

An Xiaxia was dazed.

She had never thought about it that way.

Was she going to be forced to marry someone she didn’t like?

She began to panic. “I’m not going, then…”

“Sorry, but it’s out of your hands now,” Sheng Yize said casually. “Like it or not, you’re going back.”

“How does it have anything to do with you? Hmph!”

“As a matter of fact, it has a lot to do with me.” Sheng Yize gave her belly a little pinch. “Which families do you think the Song family would like to join with through marriage the most? Sheng Yize frowned.

“There’s something I need to take care of,” An Xiaxia said sincerely. “When it’s all settled, I’ll explain… everything, to you. Alright?”

“Why, I see you know how to bargain now.” Sheng Yize’s eyes turned dark and his tone suggestive. “But I’m a businessman and I’m all about profit. I don’t believe in promises. They’re just empty words. How about you put it in writing for me? I can wait. After all, I’ve waited seven years already. The problem is: how long will you keep me waiting? Another seven years?”

That question stumped An Xiaxia. Hm… what should she do now?
