“There are still too many unsolved cases that she’s shouldering on her back. This is why she mustn’t die yet,” Qian Yikun said in a low voice. He revealed his purpose.

Gu Juexi sneered again and looked at Qian Yikun coldly without giving him any response.

In B City, Mrs. Wen—who suddenly woke up at midnight—got up and called Wen Tao worriedly.

At that moment, Wen Tao was asleep with his wife in his embrace. When the phone rang, he quickly got up, went out of the room, and picked up the call. “h.e.l.lo— Mama, what’s wrong?”

“I still can’t get through to Shan Shan. I can’t help feeling that something’s wrong. Do you think something might have happened to her?” Mrs. Wen said as she extended a hand to grip her chest.

While listening to his mother, Wen Tao yawned involuntarily. “Nothing happened. If you’re still worried, you should call the number I gave you last time. That’s Shan Shan’s boyfriend. ”

Mrs. Wen did think of calling the number, but she felt that it was somewhat inappropriate to do so in the middle of the night. After all, she had not met his parents yet, and her daughter had not told her about that either.

Mr. Wen came out of the room and put his coat on Mrs. Wen’s shoulders. “What are you doing not sleeping in the middle of the night?”

“My chest has been so stuffy. It’s just like when our Shan Shan was born.” As Mrs. Wen said this, she looked up at Mr. Wen. “Wen Tao said that Shan Shan is fine, but this—”

“You must’ve been worrying about too many things recently. However, didn’t you say that you were getting closer to finding your sister? You mentioned a child who is related to Wen Shan by blood?” Mr. Wen said as he sat beside his wife.

Mrs. Wen’s mood improved a little when she thought about that. “That’s right. Yet, Shan Shan has been experiencing all these things recently but we can’t leave Jing Jing. I’ll ask when Shan Shan’s done with her work, I guess.” As Mrs. Wen said that, she sighed and stood up immediately. “Ol’ Wen, walk with me? I wonder why I feel so uncomfortable.”

Mr. Wen stood up after her and said worriedly, “Why don’t we go to the hospital and get that checked?”

“It’s nothing. I just feel suffocated. Accompany me downstairs on a walk to get some fresh air,” Mrs. Wen said as her brows furrowed even tighter together.

Mr. Wen was concerned about his wife. He hurriedly grabbed his clothes and followed her out. He kept talking about going to the hospital but Mrs. Wen stopped him every time he brought that up.

“I’m just a little fl.u.s.tered. It’s not a big deal.”

“You were fl.u.s.tered when you gave birth to Shan Shan back then. Do you remember how long it took for you to finally get over it? In those few years when Shan Shan was young, you would be fl.u.s.tered every once in a short while. It was only when Shan Shan was older that you got better.” Mr. Wen glared at his wife. After thinking about it for a while, he said, “This can’t do Let’s go to the hospital.”

“Ol’ Wen,” Mrs. Wen pulled at Mr. Wen and made him sit down. “I know my own body. I’m just not used to living upstairs. But Jing Jing is pregnant, so I can’t say that I’m going back to my hometown. Although her parents are here too, we—as her in-laws—can’t leave either.”
