Chapter 5.2 – An Impossible Task

233 tossed his clothes on the riverbank along with his weapons and started patiently scrubbing the dirt and filth from his skin and combed his messy hair to the best that he could.

From his weapons, he took one sharp knife and began shaving his beard which could be easily mistaken for a bush.

He took a second look at his reflection and saw a clean shaven face and sleek hair. Not minding the scar on his face, he appeared a lot more presentable to the eye.

Not bad, he said to himself and prepared to head back inside, but hesitated for a moment as a thought popped up in his head.

He was a villain, and there he was here looking like a church boy! So he picked up the knife once again and touched its tip to his face.

Blood spilled all over. If there were onlookers, they would have fainted in an instant at the gruesome sight. Yet, 233 appeared undeterred and calm as he cut his flesh neatly with his skilled hands.

This was because the pain in the parallel world is halved. To 233, it only felt like a slight tingling sensation of being bitten by ants, a pain within the tolerable range.

After some time, 233 lifted his whole face from the water. After the blood was washed away and the gushes cleaned, his image and temperament was changed completely. He no longer looked like a rogue who haven't bathe for at least a decade nor a harmless church boy.

The most eye-catching scar he carved in his face — a majestic dragon tattoo. It made 233 look imposing, remarkable and domineering.

233 was an experienced barber in one parallel world he entered. That's why, it could be said that he was familiar with grooming as one is familiar with driving.

In fact, he used to demonstrate with actions that there were no real ugly people in the world, only people who didn't know how to dress up.

After a closer look at his current image, 233 was satisfied with a nod and headed back home with a little more confidence in his stride.

When he returned to the stronghold, he could not see anyone around the perimeter. Probably all of his people scurried off to find the escaped woman. Oh the power he holds!

He smiled to himself, only to have that smile wiped off upon seeing a figure standing idly at one corner. It was one member of his gang, a lazy one. Well, since he's here, 233 immediately ordered, making use of his presence.

"You there! Call everyone, I have something important to announce!”

The gang member gave 233 a sided look and said blankly, “Who are you?”

233 was stupefied at the member's languid response. How dare! But then he remembered that he looked a lot different now. Nevertheless, he kicked him on his s.h.i.+n and scolded.

“Who am I? Have you become blind boy? I am your boss!”

Only then did the gang member got up, rubbed his s.h.i.+n, looked left and right, and whispered cautiously, “Is it really okay to change your image without authorization?”

“You know nothing of the system, I see. The result is what the system takes a fancy at most. The process is only a reference quant.i.ty so there is no problem with me changing my appearance.”

The system is the abbreviation for the City of Sin. It was against the law to say the word system directly, but now was an absolute free time. The reader's perspective was not with 233 and the gang member, so it didn't matter if they say it.

As an old man, 233 knew very well what to do and what not to do.

The last parallel world he was in was much crucial and he rarely had his free time. It was mainly because the crow played by 233 was the subordinate of the final boss who had a heavy weight, and perspective will often switch to him. Therefore, one must be cautious in speaking there, once revealed, the punishment will be great.

But now all the people here were of small characters. Before the heroine comes, the point of view would not turn here, so he could rest easily.

The gang member was obviously a novice and didn't know the rules that well. Seeing 233 saying the words “system” bluntly, he got frightened and immediately went to work.

After a while, the bronze drum on the watchtower rang and 233 strolled  with his back straight to the training ground, awaiting the return of his members.

My, my, it's not too bad to be a little boss!
