Chapter 25 : Regret of The High Priest[High Priest Side I]

Marielle had left my office .

Geez, her intuition was as sharp as ever . Though I think that my behavior and appearance just now was extremely suspicious as well . Thankfully, I managed to smooth it over–at least on the surface– not allowing any slip ups in front of her .

I couldn’t show her my inner turmoil .

As I was left alone in the room, I fell prostrated, on the top of my desk .

Lefiya was mistaken for Marielle huh .

Sure, I’d led Marielle into thinking of such a situation . And it saved me a lot of trouble since that girl borrowed my excuse . However, it’s far better than her noticing some sort of abnormalities in that statement .

As for me, I’m considering the other possibilities in that statement .

 

I’m really glad that girl didn’t notice those other possibilities .

The slight discomfort that I felt when I had just received that report transformed into a conviction as I read even further into that report .

I…might have picked up a wrong Saint of Revelation .

And even if no one said it out loud, we knew that she has long since surpa.s.sed her predecessor saint .

It looked as if she had despaired when she thought of her kidnapped daughter . She continued saying that her daughter’s as lively as usual and that her daughter’s an extremely positive girl . To sum up her mutters, it was all about how the girl was a lively and honest girl, and everyone else in the village backed up her words . They all basically praised her to be beautiful but obstinate, obliging but lively, and an open-hearted person who’s caring and never discriminated against anyone . An extremely positive person .

THE HECK IS THIS! ? .

She is just too perfect .

If this were true, she’s basically a natural born saint!

Besides those facts, there’s also a point that I noticed amongst the report . That one pa.s.sage saved me from breaking down was the statement that came from the oldest person in that village .

Though that person have a slightly bad hearing due to age, the vigorous elder seems to be treated like a walking dictionary in the village .

The high priest of that time–who was already 98 years old, to a  point that I had been half expecting him to be the high priest forever– had also said that even he couldn’t understand what the oracle meant .

It was only after all members of the monastery gathered and worked together that we could somehow decipher 4 words within that oracle .

Those four were 『Marielle』, 『Lefiya』, 『Village Girl』 .

The moment I heard those words, my heartbeat rose by a notch .

Marielle was the name of my niece born from my older sister who had married someone from Lefiya village . And this niece of mine was famous for her beauty and intelligence that put the adults around her to shame .

At first I thought that it must be a mistake . Surely, everyone was swept away by their own emotion as soon as the oracle for Saint of Revelation descended . But, everyone’s interpretation was the same as mine .

The next saint’s name was  『Marielle』, a 『Village Girl』 of 『Lefiya』 village .

Everyone, basically, did not have any doubt regarding this interpretation .

Sigh…I should let bygones be bygones . Right now, I have to gather everyone to think of our next step .

First, even if Marielle isn’t the Saint of Revelation, it’s impossible to take away that t.i.tle from her . At least, I wouldn’t let such things to happen as long as I’m still alive and still the high priest!

She’d continue being a saint even after this .

Naturally, I wouldn’t force her to keep being the saint if it’s not what she wished for . After all, it’s my intention to respect her will .
