?Nine hours pa.s.sed, and the slime was still absorbing the resources. It had absorbed a lot more than I had thought, but I prepared more.

A lot more; it had only absorbed a quarter of what I had prepared. I didn't want to take any chances and looking at things in the past nine hours; it had been a wise decision.

I had gone to the library to work on the inheritance, but couldn't focus. So, I returned and sent my clone; there was no need for the two of us to stay here.

Anything goes wrong or needs to be done. I am more than capable of doing it.

Another hour pa.s.sed and then another, when finally, the consumption of resources slowed down. It took a little more than half an hour, for it to stop and tentacles to recede.

I waved my hand and brought out all the spheres out of the slime.

For a couple of seconds, everything was silent, before the reaction appeared on the charts.

A few seconds after that, its core glowed. Earlier, everything glowed except for its core, and now its core is glowing.

I looked at the graphs, and a smile couldn't help but appear on my face. The core is producing the same reaction as the monster's core would when they are breaking through.

I controlled my emotions; I couldn't be happy too soon.

As the core glowed, the energy started to flow inside it. The core hadn't absorbed the resources, but the body of the slime. Now, these resources being absorbed by the core, after they go through the process.

The body of the slime absorbs worldly energy, and it is mixing it with the resources, sending them into the core.

It is not a unique process. Some rare monsters do it, including a few species of slimes.

An hour pa.s.sed, and the core had absorbed over 80% of the energies. It is s.h.i.+ning brightly, that it had made the whole slime disappear.

It didn't matter to me, as the process was still going smoothly. To smooth.

There has not been a single problem since the breakthrough began. Everything going smoothly and that is not giving me a good feeling. I just hope it is just the reaction of being severely wrong.

Several more minutes pa.s.sed when suddenly the reaction spiked across all the charts and the core blazed.

At that moment, the core begins to send ma.s.sive energies into the slime.

The slime body absorbs those energies. Soon the changes occurred that put a smile on my face.

Suddenly, that smile froze when I noticed something in the corner chart, and within a few seconds, the reactions appeared in all charts.

"f.u.c.k it," I acted.

The energy the core is releasing is too much for its body. It couldn't absorb it. Making the energy, that was strengthening it, now started to destroy it.

I thought the smile would deal with it. Many ways to deal with such conditions, but clear the slime didn't and now I am taking action.

The formation hidden in the slime activated and begins to absorb the excess energy. That smile couldn't.

I thought it fixed things, but to my surprise, the cells of slime got unstable fast.

"f.u.c.king h.e.l.l!" I cursed and activated a different measure. I have prepared hundreds, but none worked till I loosened my control over the energy and things calmed down.

The energy once again started to burn it.

When I controlled it again, the s.h.i.+t hit the fan like before, so once again, I released the control over the energy and begin trying different measures including energy infusion.

"Nothing is working," I said a minute later.

Still, I kept trying. I had worked too hard on it, to fail. There are still many measures, I have and some of them might work.

Minutes pa.s.sed, and soon thirty-seven minutes pa.s.sed when I had finally stopped.

The slime died, and now in front of me, there is nothing, but sold blocks of red-purple crystal. The slime crystalized with the ma.s.sive number of energies it had absorbed from the core.

"Failure," I said.

I am not surprised. I knew the chances of success were less than 1%, but I still tried, because I didn't have a choice.

I looked at the graphs and solidified slime.

They are the treasure trove of data. It is for which I have tried. I may have failed this time, but I had gone further than I had thought, and now, with the data, I will succeed.

I will need to a.n.a.lyze the data. Find out the missing pieces.

I think I could glean a few things from my observations, but I will be crossing them with the data.

A few minutes later, all the disappointment I had about the failure had disappeared. Now there is hope, I could tell, I have a good chance of success and I will succeed.

I need to succeed. I can't afford more than one failure, seeing I have only two slimes left, and I don't want to lose any of them.

Now, I wish I could have taken more time, but it wouldn't have helped. I did everything I could and there was nothing more, I could have done.

I sighed and walked toward the library while my clone took my place. It will start, a.n.a.lyzing the data immediately, while I focus on the inheritance.
