"I asked you a question," I said, but there was no reply. Instead, she attacked me again with even greater killing intent.

Seeing that, I couldn't help but sigh.

My strings were on her, a few minutes before we had started to fight. I could have ended the fight quite quickly, but I wanted to fight her.

I touched her hand and pulled hard, while my strings sent the pulse, crus.h.i.+ng her resistance for a moment.

She went inside while I summoned the abode.

I came out a few seconds later. I did not like what I did, but I had to do it to get the information I needed.

I had got the information. I had no doubts about it. Even I might not be able to bear those serums once they begin their work on me.

There is good news and bad news.

The good news is that they don't know about the forbidden power. The bad news is they know about everything else. Everything that is on my records.

My methods, my abilities, my professions and they even have my psych report.

What I had suspected had been true.

Only primes had access to that information, which had been provided to them. It will make things difficult, but also easier in some way.

I released a deep breath and pushed through the worrying thoughts.

The fight was short, but it did a lot of damage. I cleaned off my signs before walking toward the lake. It is unharmed, and so is the snake inside.

I extended my strings and a few things inside the pool that only it would be able to sense.

I felt bad, taking his treasure, that it had spent years to grow, but I was not ungrateful. Even to the monster and kept giving back something.
