Dream Star 749 No Happy Ending

At a certain cafe in New York.

Teras.h.i.+ma Lila was busy reading some doc.u.ments. The main reason why she came here to read and instead of home was too distract herself.

'It's difficult though. I can't help but think about that message from earlier.' Lila played with the straw of her drink. Haruka has to bring Rikksan everywhere, that is normal now but it is annoying. 

It seems like no matter what she does those two will remain close with one other. She ought to adapt to it already.

Lila glanced up and saw silver coloured hair. "Kiryu."

"Hey, can I join you?" 

Lila nodded. "Mmm, okay."

She didn't pay much attention to Kiryu as she focused on the paperwork.

"Working hard for Haruka again?

At that comment she glanced up and nodded. "Yes."

"I thought so, does he know?"

"I think he does." Lila trailed off as she recalled how tightly Haruka held her before she left in the morning.

Haruks is very worried about her. Lila understood that far better than anybody, but she cannot let him do anything careless by himself anymore. Married couples are supposed to do everything together. Even though she was the one who said those words, Lila understood that there would be a limit to that.

"Should I tell Haruka not to worry and that I found you in a cafe brooding?"

Lila sighed. "I am not sulking."

"You are."

"Haruka went with Rikksan to meet with Nagawa Sano." She tapped her fingers on the table impatiently. "He told me that her insights is important and that he would be able to work better with her around."

"Ouch."

"Well, I do get it. Haruka and I have bad team work. We tend to fight a lot and when we do decide on something, it is when the other person caves in."

It frustrated her because she truly wanted to work well with him.

"Kiryu, did you need me for something?"

"I have a favour to ask you."

The favour Kiryu asked her was fairly simple. He ran into a director who he owed a favour from and it turned out they needed some extra help.

Lila expressed her concern when she found out that the character she will play will eventually fall in love Kiryus  character. She knew that they would have to get close to one another and maybe even act out some romantic scenes.

Her gaze fell on the director who was explaining everything.

"s.h.i.+zuka is the daughter and the heiress of a big finance company. Other kids in school bullied her because of jealousy. All the boys wanted her because she was quiet and mature, they saw her as some kind of rare gem. Another girl called Maiko with a similar background saves her alongside her two friends, Mitobe and Hiroki.

Since that time the four of them started to hang out. In no time they realized their feelings for one another. s.h.i.+zuka liked Mitobe, and Mitobe liked her back. Maiko and Hiroki's situation was the same. The two girls discussed it among themselves, worried about destroying their friends.h.i.+p. But the boys followed them and heard everything.

The four confess their feelings and they naturally paired up. In order to maintain a good reputation with their companies, they didn't reveal their relations.h.i.+p to their parents. They even decided to attend the same university. But Mitobe's parents wouldn't allow him. 

They said he would attend a foreign exchange program right after graduation. Mitobe knew he couldn't refuse. He broke up with s.h.i.+zuka and leaves without telling anybody.

A few Yeats later Mitobe returned since he discovered he was engaged. He discovered that s.h.i.+zuka spent many years planning this. But he realized his true feelings when he went abroad."

Lila stole a glance at Kiryu calmly listening to the story.

Of course he would be calm about this. She always forgets how he was the one who broke up with her. He was the one who left her, the one who let go of her.

"When Mitobe met Maiko during their engagement celebration, he discovered that she is now engaged to Hiroki. Mitobe realized that Maiko wasn't too happy about it either,  and told her his real feelings. Maiko also liked him, but she was in pain since she waited for so long. She accepted the reality that they couldn't be together. After the confrontation, the two did not speak to one another since they had to prepare for their own weddings. 

Days before Maiko and Hiroki's wedding, Hiroki was brought to the hospital because of his cancer. Mitobe came to visit him and found Maiko there. He asked her how long he's had it and she reveals that the reason why she didn't want to leave Hiroki was because she wanted him to be happy even if it means she can't have her own happiness. He was diagnosed with cancer two weeks. This was the reason why she got engaged to him.

s.h.i.+zuka was the original fiance but because of the situation. Maiko asked her parents for a favour . Without their knowing, Hiroki heard all of it and felt bad because the person he loves suffered because of him. Weeks later, Hiroki's health worsened. After Hiroki heard that exchange, he made his mind up and asked the doctors to pull him out of life support.

He did this for Maiko. Mitobe ended up marrying s.h.i.+zuka."

At that comment her eyes widened. So Hiroki's sacrifice was for nothing? What a tragic tale.

One of the actors questioned this and the director revealed. "This is a story of four people. A tale where there is no happy ending. No matter how good your life is and your relations.h.i.+ps, if a storm happens and you cannot overcome it.."

Lila stopped listening at this point. It was difficult for her to concentrate. This story seems familiar. It was all too similar to her, Kiryu, Haruka and.. her gaze fell on the name of the female lead.

Female lead s.h.i.+zuka: Rikka

Male Lead Mitobe: Haruka

So this was what he struggled to talk to her about.

She knew ever since Rikka came back, Haruka is getting more and more dragged into the acting world.

A world that does not include her.
