Ella shouted out her frustration towards her Progeny.
"And you Erica! I'm not always going to be holding your hand and helping out! You have to Dominate your group or it will cost you!"
I looked over with a wiry smile as I looked at the group off to the side. It looked like a mother was scolding their kids for sneaking out of the house or failing a test. The group of kids that looked like teenagers were sweating heavily and had embarra.s.sed faces as they look at Ella.
Yes they looked like teenagers.
It came as a surprise when their bodies started to grow; it was only slightly believable as I had seen Ella go from a baby to a woman in the time span of a week. But I was shocked the first day it happened. It had been a week since we had picked up the kids, turned them into demons and left town.
The kids borrow heavily off Ella as she was their progenitor, not just the body const.i.tution and skills were translated when they turned, they also grew at a rapid pace. With the only difference being they had stopped when they reached the teenage years. All of them at this point looked like they were 16 years old, maybe 17 if you stretched it.
They definitely looked like a family sharing the same defining features but their faces told everyone this wasn't the case.
Over the week Ella had become their leader and de-facto mother as she taught them most of what she had learned. Her fighting techniques that she had developed and the magic she could use were taught to the kids that showed determination. She was particularly harsh on Erica that was the most powerful of the group.
In this week we had moved down south heading towards a certain dungeon. The journey was long because we had to keep out speed at their level. We kept to the mainly defined paths during the day and while we were traveling, while we moved off the 'Main road' to camp for the night.
Just before we camped would be the primary time to hunt beast that roamed about, but we also did this while we were moving through the day. The ones we had found so far were between level 10 to 20 and a few that were around 23 and 24. As mentioned, Erica was the most powerful with better skills than the others and control over fire like Ella. Thankfully she didn't get the Berserk Rage skill as well.
They had all become close range fighters over this small period of time and we let them do all the killing. Because they didn't have EPC's it made it hard when killing enemies. The Exp wouldn't be shared between the group and there was nothing we could do to fix this.
I supplied the gear they were wearing and we had gained some over the course of our trip. We hadn't run into any players or other NPC's while we were going, or natives. Because of this and the relative low level of the beasts the group of children made it to level 15 each, with Erica being the only one at level 16.
They were growing powerful by the day, but this had led to some mishaps. Like how Ella was blasting them today, we had run into a wolf pack. Their level was about 12-14 and perfect for them to train on. We would be behind them if they needed help but we only stepped in when necessary.
I wanted them to get a good battle sense, so if they were injured while fighting I usually did nothing and only came in when their life was threatened. We had a lot of health potions from the downed players, which made it a simple task to heal them. They also had the regeneration skill which made them durable. Probably the reason why they all became melee fighters.
If it wasn't for how our group was situated Ella would for sure be a front line fighter not an archer. But she took a liking to it.
During the fight, they had gotten in each other's way and caused obstructions to each other. They weren't very helpful to the people around them and became obstacles for others. They were all like that and were having trouble adapting to group battles.
They still had the mind of children I guess.
Another thing happened 2 days ago.
With the increase of power it started to change them. Not in major way but in some small ways, their att.i.tudes and reactions to certain problems. The problem started with Spetz.
I had given him an instruction while fighting as I did every now and then, of course they were usually taught by Ella but I saw something wrong and tried to help him.
In the next second he snapped in my direction and bared his power at me a small growl escaping his lips. It was an instant thing and I could see a little rebellion in his eyes. The power he had started to gain overcame his rational thinking, I honestly had no clue what he was thinking at that time, but I shut him down quickly.
My power gushed out and forcefully made him drop to his knees. The rest of the group turned in our direction while the beasts they were fighting also dropped down. His face palled at my power that easily outstripped him.
My eyes were cold as I looked at him, I was goading him to try that again. Before that could continue, Ella had already moved over to him, not feeling any pressure at all, and stood in front of him.
*Smack*
She smacked his face so hard that most of his teeth were knocked out. Her expression was scary as she looked down at the boy that had just started to grow. As the oldest he already looked like he was 16 at the time.
"You dare Bare your Fangs at my Brother?!"
She screamed at his b.l.o.o.d.y figure as she laid powerful kicks into his body. If it wasn't for Rose coming over to give him a health potion he would have died. But even she was offended by what had happened. She threw the health potion down and it broke over his injuries, barely healing him. We let the Regeneration skill he had do the rest.
We helped him and he goes and tries to rebel like that. It was honestly insulting. Thankfully the rest of the kids had better heads. They also shunned him and didn't go give him help. Erica felt it was her fault and I saw her later go up to Ella to receive a punishment. Which Ella did, she gave her a smack across the face and broke a finger.
I thought her methods were a bit much for a kid, which while she may look 13-16 now is still actually 7 years old. But I didn't interfere in what was happening. Ella wanted to guide them herself and was very adamant about this fact.
After that incident Spetz is still shunned by the group till today. I think going against their progenitor is one of the biggest mistakes a Demon could make, and has made him a type of enemy in their minds. I felt little pity for him; he had caused this by his rash actions and would have to fix it in the future.
Right now we had just set up camp a bit away from a main road. After killing some beast we were about to eat them. Rose had become very proficient in cooking the wild game we killed and she dotted on the kids a lot. She had a very natural motherly instinct and character which I was just starting to learn about.
Though she doted less on Spetz since the incident.
Just as we were sitting down and starting our meal a small sound made its way to my ears. The sound of galloping horses came closer and closer, which I identified as coming down the main road. Turning to look with my spirit vision I saw a cart being pulled by horses followed by numerous people.
Obviously one was chasing, the other was running. I frowned as I looked at the scene unfolding in front of me.
I could just hear the screams of the people that were giving chase.
"You can't run! Give us your goods and we might kill you fast! Hahaha."
"Hahah"
"Hahahaha"
The, what I a.s.sume were bandits, laughed as they gained on the escaping merchant cart. And all I could think in my head as I watched this going on is.
"Really. I run across this sort of situation. I mean…. Really?"
