Peeking inside, it was dark. I hadn't looked at the clock when I left the other floor, but with 10 hours pa.s.sing, it should be in the wee hours of the morning.

With no light coming through the windows, the light was provided by the emergency lights. Yes the backup generators had kicked in and the corridor was bathed in red.

G.o.d it felt like a scene from a horror film.

I moved in slowly and scanned around. There were no regulars about, and no tar on the ground, not even a smidgen of blood, the corridor was immaculate.

"Weird."

After going through the 8th floor, it became a regular sight.

After checking that it was clear I went back to the stairs and brought Ella in. Pulling out one of the normal swords I had, I jammed it between the door and wall.

Hopefully that will stop anyone from following me.

After securing the stairs, I went to the east reception. Going further in I figured out why there was no signs of infected. Most of the rooms I went into were used for storage, mostly being filled with medical goods. By the time I was finished with the east reception, I had found no infected and 2 full rooms of confectioneries.

I had made the right choice, the hospital had to keep a stock of food for patients, and it looks like I just stumbled on to the storage floor. The amount of food in the rooms would be able to last me a good while. Plus they even had a few boxes of bottled water.

I don't know all the things that stupid G.o.d infected, even the ocean could be off limits. With the bottled water I don't have to worry. I filled my bag and also 3/4 of my ring. I wanted to leave some room in it so that I could put some globes or other things in it.

I probably spent an hour searching through all the rooms on the east reception, there were too many things to check. I checked the clock that was hanging above the reception.

It was 6:30 am, at least another hour before it became bright. I did want to clear another floor other than the top, by the end of the day. I didn't know how long it would take to clear each floor so I decided to fasten my pace.

I couldn't go to fast though as Ella couldn't move that quick, it would take me more time.

So I moved towards the south reception, as each floor had the same layout it wasn't that hard for me to navigate the corridors. Like the other area, this was also devoid of infected and filled with storage rooms. Nothing edible having mostly, drugs and equipment stored. As the time ticked on a feeling of hunger welled up in me, I knew this was Ella as I had felt it before.

Turning to look at her, she had a slightly lethargic face and wasn't as energetic as she was before. It had been only around 1-2 hours since she had eaten the regular infected on the 8th floor. And she had eaten half his body, but the hunger cravings I felt where insane. It felt like she had been starved for a day.

Concerned I opened my bag and offered her some food. Because it consisted mainly of sweets I worried about her teeth for a second, before I realized that she ate through bone. She'd be fine. But as she sniffed the bar of chocolate, I had scrounged up, she frowned and threw it on the ground.

Huh?

Doesn't like sugar?

I tried to offer her a few more pieces of food but it was all useless.

Don't tell me she only eats people?!

I went into a daze; I have to keep supplying this child with bodies to eat…

No. I shook my head; out of all the food I had produced there was no meat. Yes, she probably eats normal meat, but not confectioneries and vegetables.

I continued on pus.h.i.+ng this matter to the back of my head, I would be able to find something for her to eat later. She can have the infected.

I headed to the west reception and finally saw some blood and tar littered about. It wasn't as veracious as the other floor but there was something. I readied myself as I moved on and finally found a regular. I used a.n.a.lyze on it as it was a bit bigger than the usual.

Jesus, they're already at level 3.

The good thing to note is that it was not nearly as over powered as the special. And its speed was pretty low. It only took me about 1 minute to kill it. Though my blade did have some trouble cutting through its skin.

After it died, the globe it dropped only gave me 1 entertainment point and a pair of strength gloves. I can give them to Ella; they were no use to me. As I helped her put on the gloves her status popped up in front of me again. She had leveled.

Huh? She's 30 exp in to the level, but she just leveled up?

The level 3 regular must have given more exp. This was great, I wouldn't have to kill as many infected to level up.

After that I thought about her stats. She still needs INT, she needed to learn how to talk and that would help. So I put 3 points in there. But what else should I get. I still don't know what SPR does so I won't put any in there.

In the end I put 2 points in AGI and 1 point in STR, she would need to keep up with me and the strength would help her fight. Having done that, her stats looked a bit more balanced.

While I was handling her status, she had rushed over to the killed regular and started eating it. I had to turn my head away as she started. After the hungry feeling, I was getting from her; faded away she got up and wiped her mouth, smiling at me.

I couldn't help but shake my head at that innocent smile.

This is messed up.

After scouring the whole floor I didn't find any other infected, it looked like that guy was the only one up here when the apocalypse started.

I found another 3 rooms of food or water, but left them as they were. I couldn't carry that much around. But none of them had meat; I couldn't test out if Ella ate normal meat.

I'll just deal with that later. Having cleared out the floor I went back to the first stair case and made sure that it was secure. Making sure that it's well and truly jammed in and near impossible to open, I moved to the west stair case.
