Infected beast? Wolf evolution? The animals in front of me looked more like dogs than wolves.

Actually, weren't dogs related to wolves somehow?

My thoughts were in disarray, I hadn't thought about it till now, but that d.a.m.n G.o.d never mentioned what was going to happen to the wildlife and animals that were on earth. Looking at its status, I had a bad feeling about what animals would become one day.

I shook my head, there was no time to worry about their evolution; I would have to think about that another time. My eyes were drawn to their track skill.

Right now they were asleep, thankfully.

But once they woke up, they would be able to smell me and instantly know I'm here. I've heard about a dog's nose before, or should it be wolf? Either way, they would be able to smell me a mile off. And because I've been hanging out all around this floor, even if I leave them alone they can track me afterwards.

This means that I have to take care of them now; it's when they're most vulnerable. If I didn't I would have to look over my shoulder for the rest of the day, for these dogs. This was my golden opportunity, if I left it any longer one of them might wake up.

Having this though I quickly dashed into the room, I pulled out my sharp sword again, because I would have to finish this quickly. The more I killed while they were asleep the better off I would be.

I dashed into the room as quietly as I could and rushed to the nearest one. I told Ella to wait outside the room and not make any noise, not to wake them.

As I closed in on the nearest one, I considered where I had to strike. One the smell of blood started to leak out they would quickly wake up. They had their instincts, and I couldn't help that.

The quickest way would be taking off their heads, there was no way I could decapitate these things in one move, so I had to simplify it.

I moved up quietly and aimed for its neck. The neck was a weak point and if struck right would damage the spine. By taking out the spine, they wouldn't be able to move their bodies, even if they lived. As well as the fact it might instantly give them brain death, it happened to humans, and should be the same for animals.

It also served as a way to take out their vocal cords. If one of the wolf's screamed out for help as I was trying to kill them, my plans would go up in smokes, facing 9 of them, with my AGI being lower, I would be doomed.

I stabbed straight for the neck and the blade sunk in nicely. The wolf awoke with a fright and started twitching, opening its mouth to make a noise. The blood that was spilled filled up its lungs and no noise could make its way out. It twitched a few more times before lying still. Peeking at my Exp gain, I gained 100 exp. These guys were way more dangerous than anything I had faced, other than the special.

I had to speed this up, I had only killed one and the smell of blood would spread really soon. I made my way over to another one and went for the neck again. After killing another 3 and reducing the pack down to 6, one of them twitched its eye. I was rus.h.i.+ng forwards to kill it as they snapped open. At that point I gave up on aiming for its neck.

I dived right in and swung at its head. Before the blade could sink into its skull it barked out, awakening the others. The bark was short lived as the next second my blade took its life away, but it was enough.

With the bark the other 5 wolfs snapped their eyes open and jumped up. Seeing the b.l.o.o.d.y scene around them, they lowered their bodies in a pouncing position as they faced me. I readied myself and stood back a bit, I couldn't let them circle around me. I gripped my blade tighter as their mouths pulled back and snarled at me.

They were p.i.s.sed off and out for blood. After growling and before I could prepare myself, one of them launched itself at me.

s.h.i.+t, fast!

Its speed was something I couldn't dodge. After dealing with so many infected that had lower speed, I had become used to being able to dodge a pounce or swing of the arm. With the wolves however their AGI was 22 which outstripped me. I didn't have time to dodge, as I pulled my blade up to block its sharp claws.

*Dang*

The sound of clas.h.i.+ng between it and my sharp sword sounded out, the force of its body pus.h.i.+ng me back. It didn't push forwards as it landed and stared at me.

Its claws had left marks on my sharp blade!

Nothing had scratched the blade since I had gotten it, it may have dulled slightly, but nothing had scratched it!

Recovering from the knock back I stared at the wolf in front of me, wait! Why wasn't it continuing its attack!?

I whipped my eyes over the s.p.a.ce in front of me and noticed 2 of them had gone missing.

Their behind!!!

I lowered my body, twisted around and swung my sword behind me. I heard nothing coming from behind, but felt a huge weight crash into my blade, sending me off balance. Sweat started to pour down, as I gasped for air. That was too close!

The wolf, not expecting me to have reacted, suffered a gash going deep into its paw. As it landed, its weight buckled and it fell to the ground.

Good, I had almost crippled it!

The other wolf's were enraged and pounced towards me again.

I didn't have time to leave a killing blow as I desperately rolled out of the way. I stuck my sword out in hopes of hitting something as I rolled out.

I lucked out and hit the soft underbelly of one of the wolves. It fell to the ground not much life left in it.

After rolling I sprung to my feet as quickly as I could and faced back at the pack. Only 3 wolfs were still standing and looking at me with blood shot eyes. Of the other 2, one was quickly dying from its wounds, while the other couldn't move with a busted front paw.

My confidence slightly rose, but I knew this next fight would still be hard. I readied myself again, as 2 of them split up and went towards my sides. I couldn't keep track of both of them so I turned to my right. If I couldn't keep track, I would rush one.

Bursting towards it, the wolf pounced with a wide open jaw. If those teeth bit into me, it would rip my muscles right out and snap my bones like twigs.

With all the ability I could muster, I forcefully moved myself to the side and swung up into it's under region. My blade connected and left a weak dying wolf in its wake. Though before I could continue to move on, or turn around, a sharp pain came from my back.

The wolf that had gone to the left had sprung up on my back and racked along it. A huge claw mark was torn out of my back and I was pushed forwards to the ground.

I went face first into the ground and slammed my head against the floor. My head went dizzy for a second as I scrambled to find my sword; I had dropped it when I hit my head.

The wolf didn't want to give me any leeway and pushed me down with its immense strength, its claws digging deeper into my back. It growled again and I could feel its hot breath on the back of my neck, spittle from its mouth raining on the back of my head.

The gear that I had been using was being torn to shreds. Scrambling for my sword I finally grabbed it in a revers grip, as the wolf opened its mouth going in for the kill. In the reverse grip I almost dislocated my shoulder throwing my arm back as fast as I could.

The blade seemed to sink into something as the wolf howled in pain and sprang backwards. With its weight finally off me I turned over. I was exhausted and still dizzy from the fall. The 2 final wolfs surrounded me as I struggled back to my feet, wobbling to find something stable.

My eyes were half closed as the wolves moved in closer.

When they were about 2 meters away from me, the pained howl of the crippled wolf rang out. We all turned our heads over to the noise and I saw Ella standing there with her normal sword placed in its back.

Even though she was just about the same size, or smaller, of this huge wolf, she had clambered onto its back and ruthlessly shoved her sword right through its spine. She probably didn't know that it was the spine, but it was a great strike, as after the howl it slumped over, dead.

The other 2 wolfs were enraged at the sight and one of them growled at Ella. As if communicating and knowing I didn't have much left, they look at each other before the one without injuries bounded towards Ella. The one I wounded before stayed to deal with me.

No!

Rage finally started to course through me unhindered and unbridled, as it cooled my head. It focused up my vision and made me think clearer.

I wouldn't let it touch Ella!

She wouldn't stand a chance against its speed and strength.

Rus.h.i.+ng towards Ella and the wolf, the other one blocked my path. Not having a second to lose, I slashed out towards it as it lunged towards me. This was only a faint to scare it off and make it not commit a full pounce onto me.

It worked, as my blade was flying towards its injured side

With it not committing all its strength I only left a glancing blow on its side and continued to rush towards Ella. It was enraged at being humiliated and rushed after me; I didn't care at the minute. I just madly rushed towards Ella.

The wolf was closing in on Ella and she couldn't remove the sword from the dead body. She struggled to pull it out, but it wouldn't budge, it was somehow wedged deep into the body. No fear was on her face though as the wolf closed in. Only a look of determination to pull out the sword was on her face, she didn't even seem to notice the incoming danger.

The wolf pounced at her and she still hadn't pulled it out.

"GET DOWN ELLA!!!"

I Screamed out to her as the wolf was about to slam right into her body, I wasn't faster than it. Ella's face turned to me with shock at the abrupt shout and finally understanding something I said to her, she ducked as fast as she could.

This didn't help much, as the wolf's body flew over clipping her side. The force from the jump forced her to spiral to the ground hard. More anger rushed through me at the sight and my legs somehow forced me to move faster towards them.

Das.h.i.+ng past her I confirmed she was alright, before closing in on the wolf. My rage boiled up as I saw it standing up from its jump. It hadn't landed to well and slightly injured its leg, slowing it down.

Not wasting the opportunity I dived towards it and unleashed all my strength, to slash it in the head. The blade sliced in and ended its life quickly, the body still trying to turn and face me.

Before I could do more another force pummelled into my body. This time with the lack of strength in my legs I flew forwards a few meters and definitely broke my arm in the fall.

A sharp pair of canines found their way into my shoulder and I screamed out in pain.

"ARGH!!"

They sank into my flesh and started to thrash about, the pain increasing by the second.

I moved my body about increasing the pain, trying to sway the wolf off me. But it had a death grip on my shoulder. With one arm broken I couldn't do much but swing my legs around, hoping to hit its body.

Pus.h.i.+ng up with my non broken arm, I flipped my body over and finally got the wolf off. But it took a large chunk out of my shoulder; a b.l.o.o.d.y mess where the muscles used to be was the only thing that remained.

I couldn't feel my broken arm anymore, because of the torn muscles and broken bones. And I couldn't keep my eyes open, as my pain receptors turned white from the agony.

Suddenly my dizziness increase and all the power in my body faded away. I tried to sit back up, but I became nauseous instead.

I vomited a mouth full of blood as a screen popped up in front of me.

(User has Been Infected with Beast cla.s.s Infection)

(User's Infection resistance kicking in)

(User's rate of survival unknown)

Oh G.o.d!

I've been infected by that things bite!!!

I started to lose focus, and sweat started to pour down my whole body. The wolf was still roaming about but I couldn't concentrate properly.

I couldn't control my body anymore.

The only thing I heard, as unconsciousness grabbed a hold of me, was a high pitch voice screaming.

"FATHER!!!!!"

Father?

Who's?
