The town was actually bigger than I first thought; looking at the buildings I had no clue where I would start.
I frowned as I thought of my next move, what had happened a few seconds ago ran through my head as well. I felt that my personality was slightly different than normal. Having walked past Jonathan and his thugs I could look back on what I just did objectively.
I didn't regret what I had done, but was clam enough to know I wouldn't usually act like that. As my head had gone cold from anger, I acted completely different from usual; it wasn't a good sign, that change in personality that I just experienced.
As I was thinking to myself I noticed a new existence making their way towards me.
Turning my head in their direction I saw a woman that look 18 or in her early 20's walking towards me. There was something different about this person as they moved. Their gear was the old Padded vest and jeans; concentrating on them I could tell that they were weak.
Ridiculously weak actually, they were weaker than anyone I had seen so far, even some of the children that were at the gate of the town felt stronger. They had had to go through life and death fights to kill an infected and had battle experience. The person that was walking towards me didn't have the type of pressure weighing down on them. As if the apocalypse hadn't even happened for them.
Her head of hair hung below her shoulders, but wasn't long and was pure black. Her face didn't have much dirt and grim on it and it looked like she even had a shower recently. This wasn't normal.
The smile on her face betrayed her happiness about something and the curios way she was looking at me was weird. It felt like she was taking a normal stroll in her backyard.
My guard instantly went up as they made their way closer to me. She couldn't hurt me, I was sure of that, but I couldn't place my finger on what put me on edge.
Finally making her way up to me, her eyes flashed as she used a.n.a.lyze. She didn't frown or do anything that a normal person would; she just smiled and pushed her hand out towards me.
"I can't see any of your information, you really are strong!"
I couldn't understand where she was going with the conversation, but I didn't shake her hand, that unsettling feeling still lingered.
She had given me some good information though, judging by how weak she felt her a.n.a.lyze mustn't have been able to get my information. This was probably because I out level her by quite a bit.
Pulling her hand back and giving me a pout, she then kept talking.
"Fine, don't shake, what an uncivilized person."
I finally decided to talk to her; she walked up to me for a reason.
"What do you want?"
My voice was low as I still had my guard up. She just smiled at me as I had finally talked.
"It's not what I want, it's what you want."
I showed her a questioning look and didn't give her a response, which caused her to falter. I think my aura might have leaked a bit and pressured her; the uneasy feeling was still there. Regaining herself after that happened she then continued.
*Cough*
"Well I thought you might need someone to lead you around town"
"What do you want?"
She couldn't be doing this out of selflessness. She must have seen me taking out and intimidating the gangsters and wanted me to do something. My eyes turned sharp as I waited for her response, depending on what she said I would completely ignore her.
She shook her head and gave a small laugh.
"I just want to get acquainted with a strong character! And that's you!"
From her tone, I could tell she was telling the truth, even if she did want me to do something later; I had no obligation to help her. I would take her help for now and see how sincere she was. She might just disappear after helping me. Though I doubted that.
Thinking for a minute, I finally nodded my head.
"Ok where do you want to go?"
"Where do I find gear and cla.s.ses?"
I didn't even have to think, these were the most pressing issues.
She thought to herself before walking off to the left. I followed behind her and soon we were standing in front of a 2 stories building. A hammer and anvil where on the sign that hung in front of the building and I could tell that this would be a smithy.
Our world was a game now, so the common sense of a game would apply. Looking at the sign for a second, I knew I could get new gear here. I then s.h.i.+fted my eyes towards the person next to me. She looked at me with s.h.i.+nning eyes that I couldn't read, and that weird feeling I was getting from her popped up again.
My eyes flashed as I finally used a.n.a.lyze on her, she had helped me out so far, but I need to find out what was off here.
Name: Boosted KuroNeko
Race: Human
s.e.x: Female
Age: 18
Level: 1
Cla.s.s: Newb
What in the actually h.e.l.l, kind of name is that. There is no way that is her real name! Can you get a name change with enough entertainment points?
I mean there is no way a parent would name someone that, and it is even weirder for her to change her name to that.
That wasn't all that was strange, her level was 1. After a week of being in the apocalypse, she was still level 1? Something wasn't right here. She hadn't led me wrong yet, and hadn't asked for any favors.
But I decide right then and there, that I wouldn't stick around after I got what I needed. Something really wasn't right with this person.
And I have no clue what that cla.s.s she has means. Newb would be a gaming term to describe someone without experience or completely bad at the game. Why would that be her cla.s.s?
As the strange factors kept adding up, my determination to not interact with this person grew. She only gave me a smile as I inspected her and knew what I was doing.
Yet that smile, somehow had a deeper meaning too it, like she was waiting for me to say something, or do something. What could it be?
I turned my head away and went into the store, my gut was twisting slightly as I thought of Kuro's smile, and something was telling me she wouldn't be the first person I would meet that would be like this.
Walking in the building I saw some gear hung up on the walls and could identify the pieces of gear that I had worn before. I also saw the combat vest, and other gear I had never seen before.
I grew excited as I stared at the new gear that glistened; I wanted something better than the combat gear.
Walking to the counter, there was only a small pedestal installed. I stood and looked at it questioningly.
Kuro who had followed me in came beside me and reached out towards it.
"Once you touch this system pedestal, you'll be able to purchase and browse what the shop has for sale."
I looked at her silently before reaching my own hand out.
