I stretched my body and rose to go look for Ella. I had to ask how the night was. Nothing much had happened and just as I was about to end the conversation to start getting breakfast ready, she stopped me.
'Father there was one strange thing.'
She sent the message in my mind and sent a glance towards where Kuro was lying down, she was a bit remote from us and was next to the side of a tree, she was a bit hard to see from here. But not too far away from where we set up camp.
I also sent a look her way before Ella continued.
Once she was done, my eyes sharpened as I looked towards Kuro. Then I went into my head to think about a few things and instances that had happened before.
Ella just stared at my reaction until I was done thinking. She felt the fluctuations that were going through my emotions and spoke with determination.
"Should I eat her Father?"
I finally reigned in my emotions that had been shaken up, and took a deep breath. I sent one last look at where Kuro was, before shaking my head.
"No, I still need to check some things."
Ella nodded and retracted the killing intent she had towards Kuro. I patted her on the head before going to make breakfast. It was the same beast meat that we had the night before, and was slightly harder than last night. Thank G.o.d with our teeth we easily tore through it.
Though Kuro might have some trouble, I would let her have some food today. She needed her strength to keep up with us.

The sky started to lighten so I decided it was time to move.
"Let's go."
I spoke towards Kuro who was still trying to get through her meal; she showed me a tired smile as she stood up and threw the half eaten sc.r.a.ps away.
I waited for her to pack up her stuff and then we set out. Nothing much happened for the next few hours, as we only ran into small groups of Prowlers. They were still only around level 10 and 11 so we already had an advantage.
My new blade was performing above expectations as it easily was able to reap their lives. A quick cut to their throat or a decapitation would easily end the fight; I was finally killing more of them then Ella. Of course with the addition of Kuro, who had no weapon and bad AGI, we did slowdown in our endeavors. I didn't mind too much, it just gave Ella and me more time to eat the beasts.
With Kuro needing more breaks than us, I would quickly set up a fire and roast some of the meat we collected. This way, I could make more use of imperial growth and become stronger.
I made sure that the meat we collected didn't go off in the heat by placing it in my storage ring. By putting it in there the meat wouldn't be affected by the humidity of the mountains temperature.
I found this to be quite helpful, though I didn't think raw meat would really affect me. Ella ate people all the time, and I sharing the same skill probably wouldn't be affected. But I had never had the problem of hunger.
If Ella didn't have food after a certain amount of time, she would become ravenous for food. This could affect her energy reserves and even her mental faculties. I could chalk it up to the energy she needed for growth. But I did notice that no matter how much I ate these days, I would never truly feel full.
I would feel sated, but not bursting full, even when I eat a lot. I was trapped in my thoughts while eating around noon when it happened.
Ella who was sitting to my left and chowing down twitched before looking in a certain direction. I stopped what I was doing and stared at Ella.
'Father, meal.'
That's all she had to say for me to get ready, her sense were better than mine when it came to finding beasts and this usually happened when prowlers would try and attack us.
I looked in the direction she was staring in and couldn't see anything, but I got ready. Kuro who had become slightly used to our behavior also threw away her food and came behind us. With no weapon we were all she had to stay safe.
A lot of the prowlers that had fought against us had tried to go around to get her, but I always stopped them. Though it did get me thinking to use her as a trap, we could stay in the trees while they went in for Kuro, then we would jump on them from above.
I had thrown the idea out, as it would be too much trouble, we could easily kill them anyways.
Ella who was to my side also got ready to fight and pulled out the Elven bow she acquired. I had a look at it the night before to get a gist of what the bow could do. I had never actually run across a bow to use when I had been at the town, and one had never dropped.
(Exquisite Elven Bow (Green) – A hand crafted bow of the elves, it is exquisitely made and extremely durable. Enchanted with magic it increases the penetration power of arrows used and is lightweight.)
Last night when I saw the description I almost puked blood; all my gear has shoddy as h.e.l.l descriptions, but this G.o.d d.a.m.n bow and a perfectly normal one. I almost wanted to snap the thing in half right then and there.
But once I saw the pitiful expression from Ella who was sitting next to me and who could read my feelings, I quickly calmed down and handed it back to her. We had collected the arrows that the elves used on us and had been reusing them.
What was truly surprising though was how good Ella was with the bow. She had said that the information just flowed into her head, but it was insane how good she was. I had no clue how to use a bow and couldn't teach her anything, other than how to pull the bow.
I had watched something which talked about using the back muscles to pull the string, which would place less stress on the arms. I also had some practice from school at using a bow. But Ella was on the next level, she could hit a moving prowler from 20 meters away. It wasn't the furthest, but no amateur could do that.
With the enchantment that was on the bow, the arrows that were used were easily able to pierce into the beast skin and kill them. Because she wasn't so accurate after 20 meters I still usually got to kill a few with my sword, but having the bow did help.
And the more she used it, the better she was getting. The high INT was very useful. I was slightly worried about the recoil of the string onto her arm, but when I saw that it didn't affect her, I figured that her high END was making her skin near impenetrable towards such a small string.
With everything sorted out, we prepared to face the new threat.
Though once I saw them, I realized that they weren't "new", they were rather old enemies. I looked at the beast that stood in front of us and the glance to my side at Ella. Her eye had turned into slits as she stared at the beast.
I could feel her anger towards their appearance, and a small voice whispered in my head. It was cold and full of blood dripping malice.
'Inferior Being.'
