"ARRGGHHH!"

My hand stopped midair with a potion in it, my body freezing.

My heart was beating fast, as the adrenaline pumping through my system also slowed down. A huge aura a.s.saulted me and my eyes naturally gravitated towards it.

My vision that had been stuck on a blood soaked woman in her twenties, who was baring her teeth, as she ripped into a group of wolves, rotated to the right.

My neck felt stiff as I looked at the man who was screaming. The temperature that had been slightly warm and damp before, in the chaos around us, was now stiflingly cold.

My body s.h.i.+vered as I watch him scream, it hadn't stopped even after a few seconds and the air around him was starting to crystallize. I breathed out and realized that I could see the steam from my breath.

What the h.e.l.l is happening?!

The wolves that had been surrounding him were worse off than me and couldn't move as they were closer. The only ones that were able to move right now seemed to be the black wolf that was larger than the others and his sister.

His sister even seemed to be growing stronger; the powerful aura I felt from her was climbing higher.

While all the wolves were temporarily motionless and not moving, she took that opportunity to rip into them. I knew she was an infected, so I was only slightly surprised, when she started to go around biting into their necks.

One bite before she would move on. Her arms were also very st.u.r.dy as she punched out and I could see some of their bones breaking. She was moving so fast that my eyes were having trouble keeping up.

The black wolf that could still move was making its way closer to Liam, but as it arrived 5 meters away from him, it too stalled. It didn't stop completely but it did slow to a crawl.

What skill was this?!

By now if I didn't realize that it was a skill, I would have been stupid. But it was so overpowered, it was truly game breaking. Where there more skills like this out there, or is he even more special that I was starting to believe?

Ever since I had seen him obliterate those thugs outside the town, I had known that he was powerful. Maybe not in the grand scheme of things, I mean he was only around level 8 the first time I saw him. But compared to everyone else, he had strength.

There was something special about him, which made it so he would always be stronger than regular people, and with time, possibly more. I mean for G.o.d sake, his sister was an infected. And she seemed to be more powerful than him.

When I had met him in the forest I knew he was special, I had to grind with Asura for ages before we could sneak out of the city and head up here. If I didn't have to come up to the mountains and didn't have a lot of time, I would have stayed back and grinded to a higher level.

But I just didn't have enough time to wait, with the both of us and our skill, we had thought that we could survive out here and find what we were looking for. We could even gain higher exp. And it had been going good, we left when we were level 9 and by killing a few of the prowlers we had reached level 10 quite quickly.

It was only when we met Liam and his sister that things started to go awry. But after everything was said and done, I was sure that meeting him up here wasn't a coincidence. It could possibly be a way to finish my objective at a lower level.

Having thought of that, I was glad that he had taken me along, I'm sure he would lead me right to my objective given enough time. Also looking at this wolf pack that we had run into, it would have been a stupid idea to come this far out without grinding to a higher level.

I collected my thoughts as I continued to watch the man scream, I didn't know what skill he was using but, it was not the best. It seemed to cause immense pain when used, and looking at his pale face I wasn't sure how long he could keep it up.

He may have frozen a lot of the surrounding wolves but if we couldn't finish them off by the time the skill is finished, we would be in trouble. I couldn't throw out any potions at the minute as I was also within the affected area.

The crystals of ice that had formed in the atmosphere gleamed in the sunlight and looked deadly as they hovered there.

"URRGGGHHHH!"

His voice turned into pain as the ice crystals suddenly shot out in all directions, his sister that had been killing the frozen wolves however was not affected, as the crystals seemed avoid around her. They also skirted around me and I breathed a sigh of relief, if I had been caught up in that I would have died for sure.

Many of the wolves that were hit by the crystals were instantly penetrated and fell down bleed from their wounds; the black wolf that was closest to him had actually retreated before they flew out. It was very smart, as it had retreated when it realized that it couldn't close the gap between them.

It had gone a good 50 meters away from him and escaped the vicinity.

With the death of so many wolves, the ground was dyed red and whimpers of pain could be heard all around. The black wolf, that had retreated, watched on as its brethren died and suddenly let out its most ear piercing howl yet.

"AWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

My body shuddered again, as an even more dangerous aura appeared from the wolf. I could see its eyes from here and they had turned a crimson red, as they stared at Liam.

After his cry of pain and the explosion of ice, he had collapsed to the ground weakly and I couldn't see any movement from him.

The skill must have drained him a lot.

Even though nearly all of the wolves had been killed there were still around 10 left. None of the others had escaped. Out of the ones that were alive, 7 of them were wounded from the ice shards, while the final 3 had been outside the radius.

Before I could think more on the subject, the howling of the black wolf stopped and its hind legs tensed. It sprang into motion and I could barely catch its shadow, as it dashed towards Liam.

"Noooo!"
