I stared into her eyes; the deep green irises entrapped me as I listened to her request.

"No! Can we do anything to help her!?"

I was snapped out of it as I hear Kuro from the side; I had forgotten that she had completed her own elf language skill. With it she was able to understand the whole conversation. She had a worried look on her face, as she looked at this person before us.

I also frowned. I may have killed a lot of people, and have done some really questionable things, such as torture, but I still had some morality left in me. I wouldn't go out of my way to help a person, but if a person was in trouble in front of me, I would help them, well if it was practical for me to do so.

I would only forsake them if they had turned on me. I turned my head back to her and saw her face crease in pain, through my spirit vision I could see the black energy flare up again. Her face was resolute in front of the pain and she shed no tears.

I could tell she wanted revenge, as someone who also wanted revenge, on the G.o.d that had screwed up my life, I could understand where she was coming from. I really wanted to help her get that revenge. As I quietly contemplated, she turned her head to Kuro and shook it gently.

"You don't understand, this is something that my entire race does throughout their long history. Once we have bonded with someone, we can't just destroy that."

She paused before showing an even sadder expression.

"Besides even if it were to get destroyed, I would die soon after."

"What?!"

Kuro was as shocked as I was, you couldn't even get rid of it without dying?

The pain was getting worse, but she still talked about what was happening, she could have asked me again to help her, but she wanted to set all the facts straight. Maybe she thought it would help me make my decision.

"You see, as a dryad we have to bond ourselves to someone. We feed off who we bond to and get stronger, and then we as well feed them to make them stronger. The stronger I get, the stronger they get."

Kuro slowly nodded her head, I thought back to the times I had heard mention of a dryad. I remember them coming up in a few books, but it was a very rare thing to happen. I had heard mention of dryads with 4 legs and a horse type body, like centaurs, but that definitely wasn't the case here.

The only other type of dryad I knew of was the ones that bonded themselves to a tree. They would then temp men to come over, before sucking them of all their vital energy.

Looking at the corpse of Leon, which was slumped on the ground, it had to be this type we were dealing with. But instead of bonding to a tree or oak, they would bond to a person. That was interesting; it would explain her human body shape and gorgeous looks.

"When we are young we can't control this and are instantly linked to our mothers at birth. Through them we can grow stronger and healthy. After we have grown enough, we will find a partner that we will bond with for life. Through this, we dryads live our lives, generation to generation"

She stopped here and I heard her voice choke.

"It was when my mother and father were captured that I was forced to bond with these b.a.s.t.a.r.ds."

I gripped my fist as I watched her talk, I didn't know everything about this bond, but I would guess that the previous bond would have to be broken, before a new one could be made. If they broke it forcible, then that meant…

I thought back to the hospital room on the first day of this apocalypse. I remember the white sheets and bed. And the silent body that rested on them. The content smile would always come back to me at night.

She composed herself and continued.

"They forcefully broke my connection to my mother. And in the short time that I would be able to live and survive, they made me bond. They used a special cursing magic that would let him control the bond between us."

"There was nothing I could do!"

As she finally got it all out, she started to cry. She had a small pendant gripped in her hand, from who knows where, and I guessed it was an heirloom. Kuro walked up and gently tried to wrap her arms around her.

But as the hands were about to envelop her body, she pulled back. She didn't say anything as the tears stopped, she just looked Kuro in the eye and shook her head. She didn't want the hug.

I gave her a little time to recompose herself and stayed to the side quietly. My mind started to wander as I thought about all the information that she had provided and the despicable acts of the elves. What nonsense must I have been reading in the past, to believe that they were a good race of people?

The ones I was confronted with were the worst.

As I thought about this my mind suddenly flashed back to the other day, when I was fighting the treant she had summoned, a plan started to form in my head.

She looked back at me finally and spoke out her request again.

"I never saw my family again after that day. I sometimes heard the elves joke about them and others that had the same fate."

She gripped her fist.

"So that is why."

Then she shouted with all her strength and emotions.

"Please take revenge for me! Please kill them like the dogs they are! Please make them suffer like my parents! Like all the people here have!"

I looked at her and saw that the black energy was reaching a boiling point, it was thras.h.i.+ng about so much more than it was before, I would be too late soon. So I spoke to her.

"I only have one question."

She tilted her head in puzzlement and waited.

"If your bond was to break…"

She hurriedly interrupted me before I could finish.

"I would die soon after, even less time than I have left now."

"Let me finis.h.!.+"

She was anxious as the pain intensified, so I could understand why she interrupted me. She quietened down at my forceful words

"IF your bond was to break, would you be able to make a new one?"

She went quiet with an unsure expression on her face; I would help her with her revenge even if she said no. But I wanted her to get it herself.

"I don't know, my mother never told me if it was possible, to bond to a person after having done it once."

"So it's a possibility?"

I rubbed my chin.

"How do you bond with a person?"

"I have to make a cut where the current crest is and then focus all my energy into my blood. It will produce one drop of blood that must then be drunk by my partner."

I looked into her green eyes, that were having trouble hiding the pain, and showed her my own determination as I spoke.

"Do you want to bond with me?"

She was flabbergasted.

"But I can't break my current bond."

I waved it off.

"I can break it. Do you want to bond?!"

She was caught off guard and I could see the turmoil in her eyes, so I spoke to her gently.

"I know this isn't the norm, and you probably shouldn't trust me. We did meet just a while ago. But I know what it's like to have rage."

I saw her eyes turn from surprise to sharp, as she heard my words.

"I know what it's like to want revenge so badly, that it is all consuming."

Her eyes turned red as my words started to get to her.

"So I am offering you a chance, to take your true revenge."

I motioned around me.

"This may be a good part of the revenge you want. But I can tell that you want to finish it."

She nodded slightly.

"So I will break your current bond and you can then bond to me. And then we can finish what you wanted to start!"

Her eyes started to tear again at my words and I knew I had lit the fire in her heart. She wanted to finish her revenge, and I was all too happy to help her.

Kuro who was standing to the side looked happy that she was able to live and wanted to see what would happen next. I had made the big promise of doing all this. She would definitely be wondering how I could do it.

I looked to Ella who was beside me and looked a bit apologetic. I had no clue how this new bond would affect Ella and me, but it just felt right. I looked in her purple eyes and she gave me a nod. She could feel what I was feeling and didn't mind what I was doing. To help someone with their own revenge just felt right, to both me and her.

She bowed to me once again filled with determination.

"Thank you, I want to give it a try. May I know your name?"

I gave her a smile and bared my teeth.

"Liam Coltear."

She nodded and replied with her own name.

"My name is Rose, Rose Wood."
