After standing there for a few minutes, Huan Hei finally looked away, and the guy frightfully stepped a few steps back, chugged down his drink, and sat back in his seat. Even though his face was red and people thought that he was tipsy from the alcohol, only he knew how terrifying Huan Hei's wordless threats could be. His back was drenched with cold sweat that made his s.h.i.+rt stick to his body. After that, he obediently waited for the charity event to begin without causing anymore trouble. He swore to himself that he would definitely get that special dessert and drop it on the floor in front of Huan Hei and Ya Nuo for humiliating him in public.
Ya Nuo wasn't surprised that the man went back to his seat. Now, she is busy reconsidering whether she still wanted the dessert because it cost twenty million last time. She wondered if she could make her own dessert and bless herself instead. Huan Hei rubbed her hand gently to get her attention, "Don't worry about the cost. The amount of money spent is the number of blessings you're getting and giving to children. It's worth the price even if it is higher than twenty million."
Ya Nuo: "Hehe, you're much cheesier tonight than ever, you know that right? But thanks for trying to make me feel better hahaha"
Huan Hei took a deep breath, "Nuo, I'll be honest with you. Even though I knew your plan and you had confidence with what you were doing, I have never been as scared in my life because for the first time, I felt like I might completely lose you. The only thing I knew was that you were trapped or locked up somewhere in that mansion. I didn't know if you were injured or punished or other possibilities. I swore to myself that the next time I see you, I won't let you go and will save you fro all troubles. I'll be the s.h.i.+eld and dodge all incoming danger."
Ya Nuo's eyes reddened a bit and her smile grew wider.
Huan Hei: "I don't know if you believe in rumors, but it's a beautiful one about the old couple visiting this spot even today. I hope that we will be like the rumor says and live together happily until our hair turns gray and white. When that time comes, I will be holding your hand like today, walking beside you, and seeing out great grandchildren run around in happiness. Maybe you don't believe in this, but I do because I want to spend my life with you until my last breath."
Ya Nuo dazed out after his sudden confession, he was too good at choosing words. 'd.a.m.n! Did he watch too many dramas lately? His chick killing lines are overwhelming geez. This old maidens heart is about to blow up from his words!! No! I need to get a better comeback...heh."
She smiled, "You better get ready because I will stick to you like the chocolate on a pocky stick or the fur on the insides of a winter coat. Wherever you are, I'll always be there. We'll only be sweeter and cheesier as time pa.s.ses, but that's only because we will be loving each other more every day. When I'm an old granny with gray hair, you'll be the old grandpa sipping tea with me and holding my hand as we enjoy the sunset. If your eyes dare look at other girls, I'll be the cute wife twisting your ears and making you love me all over again. I'll woo you off your feet anytime, any day."
Right after she finished saying her last word, Huan Hei felt a strong wave of emotions rus.h.i.+ng to his brain. He wanted to kiss her, hold her, and say his vows on the spot. His heart raced faster and faster as he repeated the words that she said just now in his head. Those were the sweetest words anyone had ever said to him. Even if somebody did say it, he wouldn't have kept it in his mind anyways. Only Ya Nuo. Only she had the power to make him go crazy and make his heart run wild.
He couldn't think of anything but to tell her, "If I win tonight's dessert, then let's make it official."
Ya Nuo blinked a few times before asking, "Make what official?"
Huan Hei held both her hands with an impatient voice, "Let's get engaged for real."
Ya Nuo wanted to say something, but the clock stroke 11! Everyone started cheering and applauding as the lights dimmed slightly and the chef walked out gracefully with other staff members behind him to start the bidding.
The chef took the microphone from a staff member and started his opening speech, "Thank you. Thank you everyone for coming here today to join us with our charity event. The money we receive for this event will be donated to different trustworthy children shelters under the donator and our restaurants name! The highest bidder will be able to try my special blessing dessert called 'Everlasting,' and I wish you all good luck. On every table, there is a different colored rose. If you wish to partic.i.p.ate in the bidding, please raise your rose and we will continue announcing the bids until we have our highest bidder. Once again, thank you for your patience and kindness. The charity bid starts... now!"
Huan Hei was the first to raise his rose and since he was the first bidder, he gets to say the starting bid price.
Huan Hei: "$20 million"
More than half of the men who wanted to partic.i.p.ate shook their heads and put their roses down after hearing the starting price. Others were getting more excited and cheered for the continuing bidders.
"$30 million!" The man who insulted Ya Nuo earlier screamed out. When he raised his rose, he also jumped out of his seat and lifted his face showing a prideful expression. He smirked while his eyes wandered through the crowd who had envious looks on their faces. Even though he was quite satisfied with their facial expressions, he wanted to see Huan Hei and Ya Nuo's expressions the most. His heart beat faster, and he felt extremely content when he thought of how ugly Huan Hei's expression is right now.
Before his eyes reached Huan Hei's table, another bidder raised his rose up high and confidently said, "$31 million."
Huan Hei got up from his seat and walked in front of that arrogant man. His smiling eyes were like flying daggers targeting that man's heart. Each time that the guy blinked and maintained ye contacts with Huan Hei, the more pain he felt at his chest.
The guy refused to back off from bidding and spurted out in a louder voice, "$45 million!"
