The girl came back to her senses due to that voice. She saw that the other on the receptionist desk was signaling for Julia so she nodded. The kind lady left shortly after a bow.
A minute pa.s.sed and because of the call of nature, Steffy had to leave her comfortable seat and go to the restroom. Thankfully, the lady janitress she had asked was nice and kindly taught her where the place was.
'What an intimidating ambiance...'
The girl had mostly mingled with normal students so she was really in awe of this place where professionals and beautiful people seemed to be everywhere.
Was she okay to be here? Her face was above average too. But she was only an 8 pointer; nowhere close everyone here who was mostly around 9 points in appearance.
'd.a.m.n! I pity my heart. It's not easy to not be conscious of one's face value in a place like this!' She thought, her inner voice sounding like she was suffering.
After doing her business, she made her way back to the lobby.
While walking, she pa.s.sed by a huge studio-like gla.s.s room where a workshop session could be seen ongoing.
She actually couldn't hear from the room since the doors were closed. But thanks to the transparent walls, she could see that an older lady who seemed to be in her mid forties was on the podium, giving lectures.
Her feet stopped for a moment. She recognized who that older lady had called up.
'That should be Ms. Lina, right?' Steffy had confidence in her memories. Everyone would, if the face had just flashed on the tall screen in front.
The Lina looked arrogant, but the girl didn't think much of it since the other woman had her face and talent to back it up.
Steffy watched for some time, and she saw that the instructress and the actress talked to each other for some time before the latter's aura and countenance started to change. The woman began acting. Steffy unconsciously exclaimed when Lina started crying on the spot.
There was no voice, but the expression itself made the girl knew that this famous woman was not popular for no reason.
She looked at the instructress' face. The older lady was satisfied at first, but midway, that satisfied face turned sour.
Steffy tilted her head. 'What's wrong? Ms. Lina is doing it correct, isn't she? Hmm. Even the students appeared like they don't get why the acting teacher is getting displeased.'
An argument between the two ensued. A few seconds later, that Lina Haze stormed out of the room, leaving the other red-faced and fuming in rage. The instructress repeatedly called the actress' name, but the latter only flipped her hair and rolled her eyes.
Steffy's lips twitched.
'Maybe the news and rumors about some celebrities are correct. As their popularity grows, their heads too grow... Oops, seems incorrect. I mean, their heads become bloated, and hearts arrogant. No matter how wrong the other party was, if it's someone older, Ms. Lina should at least give her face and not shame her in front of the workshop partic.i.p.ants. So disrespectful.'
While the twenty-year-old girl was crossing Lina Haze's name to the list of people to idolize, the subject of her silent criticism walked out of the gla.s.s room's door. Steffy did not notice that she was only half a yard away from the door so when it opened, she was surprised, her small mouth letting out a yelp.
As the door closed, Lina Haze's eyes turned to her. The woman looked so imposing in her black knee-length backless dress and matching stilettos.
The actress' left brow rose, asking, "Are you a late partic.i.p.ant?"
Steffy looked around to check if the beautiful woman was asking someone else. However, apart from them, no one else was around. When her gaze went back to Lina, it was exactly when the woman rolled her eyes at her.
"I'm speaking to you, girl. Are you a newbie too? If so, I have to tell you that your instructress will disappoint you. Because she's like so whatever."
The girl stared blankly. Lina's finger circle a few times in the air next to her right ear, her lips s.h.i.+ning due to the lipgloss up in a pretty arc.
The famous actress then inspected Steffy from head to toe. Sofony's sister was only in a pair of jeans and a white long sleeve hanging blouse, looking like a girl next door that mistakenly walked into the glamorous building.
Lina clicked her tongue. "Wow. I didn't know our company's standards are now so low. Or are you actually a singer or a backup dancer? What are you doing here then? This is for actor-wannabes."
Irked a bit since she felt badly insulted, Steffy clarified, "I'm only an outsider, visiting someone."
The other's mouth formed an O. The girl saw the quick drop in the actress' att.i.tude, especially when Lina disinterestedly turned around after saying,
"Oh, makes sense then. I should have known since your looks are only so-so."
Steffy's face turned so dark, her hands rose up, looking like she would be pulling the girl's salon treated hair real bad any time soon.
'I'm so p.i.s.sed! d.a.m.n! This is the first time that someone demeans me so much! Faker! Plastic! Witch! Once I meet up with Wendy, I'll definitely ask that Amazona the best way to flame you and make you veeeerrryyyyy infamous! See if I don't make your reputation dive into the mud!!!!!!'
Steffy almost stomped her feet in anger. Only the few eyes around made her observe her expression and conduct.
Before the rude woman could totally disappear in the lobby, another feminine voice resounded.
"If I were you, Miss Lina, I'll turn around now and apologize to the one you just insulted."
'Hmm.' Another drop-dead gorgeous woman appeared next to Steffy. The girl was too mad to notice that a black-haired beauty had come from behind.
She didn't know why, but the woman's aura reminded her so much of her sister.
Unfortunately, Steffy didn't have much time to study the newcomer since Lina Haze turned around and then prettily raised an eyebrow. "Look who's here? Our diva is standing up for a no-name girl. I wonder why."
"If that no-name is the sister of my idol, why not."
Ignoring the surprised look on the face of the actress with a huge att.i.tude problem, the black-haired lady smiled at Steffy and extended a hand, "Hi there, I'm Sofia Mendoza! Nice to meet you!"
"Sister of your idol?" The girl subconsciously asked. A heartbeat later, she quickly accepted the handshake and said, "h.e.l.lo, I'm Steffany Mendez. Steffy for short."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.
At the middle of the lobby, Lina watched Sofia's ingratiating expression with suspicious eyes. She had a bad feeling when her rival in popularity and resources turned her head her way and gave her a half-meaningful, half-disapproving stare.
The actress who loved raising her brow scowled.
'...This undying b*tch's idol is only that person, right?'
In the end, Lina Haze couldn't apologize. Her pride would not allow her. One more thing, didn't she just say the truth? Look, even the receptionists were dressed more elegantly than the girl.
Sofia laughed at the woman who hurriedly walked out of the automatic door. From behind her, two people caught up, with one of them softly tapping on her shoulder.
It was someone Steffy also saw on the commercials earlier. They said she was the Queen of Primetime. The term was not people from Country J usually used, but if she understood it correctly, it referred to shows aired between 8 pm to 11 pm.
For a brief second, the companion of the woman who tapped on Sofia's shoulder turned to them. She didn't know why, but that brief action made Steffy's heart almost stop.
She caught sight of the good-looking cold-faced man from the male cologne ad earlier, the person that left quite a strong impression on her.
He wore a coffee-colored suit over a black striped T-s.h.i.+rt, paired with black pants and brown dress shoes. The guy looked imposing, probably due to his expression and height.
Yet what really struck Steffy's nerves was her sense of familiarity with this person.
It was a puzzle for her. She had already combed through every nook and cranny of her memory bank and confirmed that she didn't know him. However, for some reason, her heart kept telling her that she does.
The funny thing was that her senses kept telling her that she knew him, more than her own sister.
How could that be possible?
"Looks like you have something to tell to this girl. We'll go ahead first."
The actress Sofia politely smiled.
"No. I'll also be going now. I just couldn't help but speak up. It's hard to ignore Lina's sharp mouth."
Alessa Morgan didn't comment. She only nodded at Steffy then continued walking towards the elevator with the actor.
Sofia also went to catch up with them, but not without pulling up a card from her purse first and handing it to the dumbfounded girl.
"I'm okay being your text-mate. I'm Sofia again. The next time we meet, I'll give you a few signed copies of my alb.u.ms!"
For some time, the girl stayed rooted on the ground, bewildered.
She only recovered when finally, Sofony emerged from her private elevator.
...
Within the elevator too, the clone's smiling expression immediately vanished and turned into a frown. She sharply glared at the man.
"You snub. You didn't even nod at the boss' sister!"
The three were the only ones inside. Sofia was standing a meter away from the two. Her face showed reproach.
Alessa looked at Chris, but as usual, the guy appeared like he did nothing wrong and that Sofia Mendoza was just air.
His reaction further angered Sofia, prompting her to accuse of the actor of so many things, like being a snub, knowing no shame, etc.
A minute later, the other actress couldn't stand it anymore.
Alessa said in an unhappy tone, "Why are you treating him like he's the greatest sinner of humanity? Even I didn't know who that girl is." She turned to Chris and asked, "How about you? Do you know?"
The guy shook his head. "I don't."
"See?"
Sofia was dissatisfied. "Liar."
A couple of moments later, Chris spoke again, "Oh. Maybe I actually do. A former schoolmate."
After saying this, the young man frowned, finally remembering something.
'I seemed to have mistaken that girl before for Felicity.'
In his mind, a memory of him walking away from Wendy played. It then changed to when he turned around and checked something from the corridor at the left side of the junction, finding a dark-blonde female student whose walking posture appeared similar to that late childhood friend of his.
The elevator b.u.t.ton for the fifth floor lit up. Shortly, the three of them walked out.
Next to him, from his peripheral vision, he saw Alessa engaged in a mild debate with the crazy clone.
While Alessa argued with the other woman about randomly greeting a stranger, he glanced at his wrist.w.a.tch to hide his amused face.
He felt amused at his blindness back then.
It grumbled for some time before asking,
He half-heartedly replied, 'Maybe?'
The actor almost laughed out loud, 'Do you know that for a second, I really thought that she's Felicity?'
Chris actually watched that girl for some time before bypa.s.sing her.
But even if she gave him that familiar feeling, it didn't mean much, he realized.
While she remained standing there, he was walking side by side with Alessa.
He thought that this how Felicity was back then too.
Chris inwardly shook his head, 'System, even if Fel is revived and appeared before me, she'll only remain as a friend. Nothing more, nothing less. I've already learned to love myself.'
To this sarcastic remark of the system, Chris went silent for a while.
It was nice that no sting or pang of anything a.s.saulted him when he heard the question, unlike when he was trying to distance himself from the hazel-eyed woman.
The system got annoyed by his lopsided smile.
When he replied, 'I think I'm almost there, at the level of me from three years ago,' it began to madly screamed, like it was dying from hearing the most cringeworthy thing ever.
