Monday. The birds were chirping happily outside to the fine weather. The sky was very clear. Nevertheless, probably due to the incident last Friday, the scheduled School Fest was pushed back to a later date. This had been declared last Friday as a form of respect to the dead teacher. They couldn't be pus.h.i.+ng forward a school festival at this time, right? That would not make anyone feel merry. It was also utter disrespect to someone who just died.

A group of students came out of the computer laboratory and was on the way back to the cla.s.sroom when they pa.s.sed by the bulletin board.

Wendy noticed that Sofony stopped in front of the bulletin, her friend was blankly staring on it. The girl sighed. She a.s.sumed her friend, Sofony, still couldn't believe what happened to one of their best teachers and that caused her to sport a lost expression in front of the charts depicting the Faculty tree.

"Teacher Agatha is no longer around. They removed her picture and name on the Faculty tree."

Sofony sighed and turned around. She faced Wendy then shook her head in dismay. It was not about that. She was just caught off-guard by the system's new task.

'So it's not just material for me... The system planned this from the start. For me to spread it to people and make Felicity the laughingstock and living scandal of the school...'

For what purpose, she asked herself... Is this what true immorality is like? To do things out of the blue, with no rhyme or reason, like how the system tasked her to let herself be raped by someone she didn't know as a first mission?

Sofony suddenly felt her skin crawl.

Last night when she checked the recordings from all of the devices, she learned that Floyd had fled somewhere. She didn't listen anymore. The device a.s.sured her that Floyd was now far away. However, Sofony made sure to take note of his current location since she planned to reveal it to the police.

As for Chris, he was seething in rage and talking out his anger to his cat, Fel. The targets of his complaints were Floyd and Wendy. But it was through him that Sofony actually discovered how Floyd was the prime suspect to Agatha Geere's murder.

And about Felicity...

'System, are you angered that Felicity defended Floyd when Wendy confronted her yesterday?'

'...Are people that stupid, with sperm as brain juices?'

She ignored the system and walked back to the cla.s.sroom together with Wendy. The morning cla.s.ses were far from over.

When lunch break came, Sofony naturally sat with Clea and Wendy at the cafeteria. There were others sharing the table with them. After eating, she excused herself from her friends and started looking for Felicity. The videos were still sitting on her memory card. For now, she planned to speak with Felicity. The main task was still not completed, and she knew she was really running out of time. But actually, the reason her progress was so scarce was that she was reluctant to do it.

Who was Felicity's real beloved?

Sofony suspected it was Chris.

And Chris was also in love with Felicity.

If so, then why should she go third-wheeling in between them? This greatly perplexed Sofony.

'It is a mess, really. I don't know what is love because Gio and I are not in that kind of pure relations.h.i.+p. But I think their situation is much messier than ours... If their feelings are mutual, that is.'

Through the listening device, she discovered that Felicity was currently inside her cla.s.sroom. Felicity was in Section F. What a coincidence that her name starts with the letter of her section. When Sofony appeared on the doorway of the section, a few people noticed her immediately.

Sofony saw her target. Felicity was sitting next to the window, her head lowered. She walked towards Felicity's desk and consequently heard the girls consoling the target about a breakup. She even heard one of the girls saying that Felicity should be happy because the bad boy broke their ties in his own accord.

'He and this girl broke up?'

Sofony could not recall ever hearing this from the past recording. After shaking this thought off of her head, she flashed a smile to Felicity when she arrived before her.

"Hi, good day. Friends, can you let me borrow Felicity for a while?"

Four people gathered around the girl. Three returned her greetings but one of them warily asked. "What do you need to talk with her? If it's about that jerk, then please don't bother Felicity. They broke up last Friday."

"No. It's something else."

"Something else? Not about how that jerk Floyd harra.s.sed you?"

"You're not here to make things difficult for Felicity, are you?

Felicity signaled her friends to let her speak and looked at Sofony with a small smile. "I'm okay. Let's go. It's an honor to have a campus queen talk to me."

Sofony glanced apologetically at Felicity's friends then led Felicity outside. The place they chose was a deserted staircase.

"What is it? Did Wendy tell you to do this?"

Her brows furrowed at Felicity's words. "Wendy is not at all related to why I seek you out."

"Oh?"

Sofony nodded and said, "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable."

Felicity gave her a bitter smile. "I asked 'coz your best friend practically interrogated me yesterday. She said Floyd is a suspect. But I don't know. He's broken up with me already. I don't even where he is."

"I'm sorry to hear that. But don't worry, it's not about Floyd. It's something else; like what I a.s.sured your friends before I took you away from them."

She took the initiative to sit on the stairs, then she motioned Felicity to take the spot next to her. Felicity unceremoniously did. The girl sat down and hugged her knees.

"Felicity, to be honest, I don't know how to begin about this."

The other girl didn't respond as she had no clue what Sofony was getting at. Sofony sighed then stared at the girl next to her. She thought the other party was actually beautiful. This girl should have also had a beautiful future, a faithful lover, and a nice life.

'Why are you destroying yourself?'

Sofony wanted to ask. She badly wanted to. But she knew she couldn't.

'Come to think of it, Felicity doesn't seem to be a bad person. It's just that she is like that. And she's hanging out with bad guys.'

Complicated feelings arose from her eyes as she looked at the girl. The mission task and the current side mission crossed her mind. It was hypocritical of her to do this, to talk with Felicity, given the fact that no matter what, she would spread the videos and destroy the other... But she couldn't control her impulse. Her conscience acted up. It said, 'At least talk to her. Why should she be destroyed? You have to at least find a justification.' That's what it was telling her.

But how it could be justified?

She felt so vexed.

No matter how dirty Felicity's body was, Sofony couldn't find any reason to do the mission to her. She was not that tainted, at least, Felicity's fault was only not having a controllable body. Or was she only like this because she herself had already lost the moral advantage of being a virgin? Was she sympathizing with Felicity because of this?

'Is that already a ground to make her life worse than death? She's just sleeping with people. Not killing them, nor stealing from them.'

Sofony closed her eyes in anger. Precisely because she could imagine what would happen if it's hers that she was being like this!
