Chapter 17
At this time, Tang Nuanhua was under the covers of her bed so she could not hear the opening of the door. When Li Shao entered and saw her wrapped like a small dumpling, he chuckled. He smoothed out the covers and observed Nuanhua for a bit. She looked to be in deep sleep and he could see her chest rising up and down.
Li Shao smiled and turned to go out. However, Tang Nuanhua turned in her sleep and revealed her red, blistered hands. He frowned at this and thought: 'This silly woman! Why couldn't she deal with her own wounds? Was this to punish me?' Li Shao blamed himself for her burns and for not listening to her properly.
It was just that when he saw her and Gu Yihan together, he felt extremely angry and helpless. He shook his head at his own naivety. He thought she had changed. She convinced him that she was going to change but seeing her blatantly going against her own promise, he got disappointed and angry.
'If l didn't believe in Tang Nuanhua, she wouldn't have broken my heart even further.' He looked back at her burns and decided to wake her up. She had been sleeping for too long anyway and the burns needed to be treated urgently otherwise they could leave scars.
Tang Nuanhua was dreaming when she felt someone pus.h.i.+ng her gently.
She opened her eyes in confusion and rubbed her eyes to the harsh lights in her room. She saw that Li Shao was looking at her in concern and she blushed. She was also proud because Li Shao did not abandon her. Sure enough, he couldn't help but come back. She knew he would. She acted angry and indifferent because she did not want him to notice that she was embarra.s.sed: "Why did you come back?"
Li Shao answered coolly: "I came back to get a file." Tang Nuanhua felt indignant on her behalf that she was not even worth one thought. Thinking about it more, it didn't matter as long as she knew he cared for her. However, she was still hurt! Couldn't Li Shao see such an obvious burn? Since he pretended not to see it, Tang Nuanhua simply reminded him: "So it was like that. I thought that someone had a conscience and came back to help me treat my wounds. It seems that l was wrong. In any case, why are you here in my room then? If you have nothing else to do, you can leave now. No one will notice I'm injured anyway."
After saying these heartless words, she stood up and walked towards the door in an attempt to leave. Li Shao saw her walking away and hastily replied: "Why don't you deal with your injuries?
Tang Nuanhua laughed at him: "What good will it do? I don't mind them so why do you? You are not distressed anyway." She walked to the bathroom to remove her makeup and wash impurities from her face. Li Shao saw that she was going to the bathroom and thought: "I really hope she doesn't touch water.'
"Stop!" Suddenly, Li Shao grabbed Nuanhua and hugged her tightly. Tang Nuanhua felt his warmth and wanted to stay like that but instead she struggled: "Li Shao! What are you doing! Are you not giving up on me? Don't you think I'm disgusting? If these are your thoughts, then you should not touch me."
Li Shao ignored her and moved towards the sofa. "Sit and don't move!" Tang Nuanhua obediently sat down as told and did not say anything else. Li Shao went out of the room and came back with a medicine box. He took out some swabs and disinfectant and started applying them.
Through out this whole process, he was very cautious and gentle because he was afraid of hurting her.
