Barren Han Tribe, Giant Continent.
Although Old Han was a Sage, he wasn't much respected in the tribe. There was a saying among the Giants : Skulls can only wait to be crushed by hands.
That was the reason why he had built his tent a little away from others, where he can stay in peace and quiet with his grand daughter, Yi. Her father was a lazy b.u.m and a drunkard, and he didn't even want to spend effort to articulate a long name. So he racked his brains and came up with 'Yi'. Later he was beaten up ruthlessly by his wife.
Old Han watched his granddaughter training in the sun. The Giants trained in a primitive way, which included lifting rocks, punching rocks, kicking rocks or throwing rocks. In short, they made a lot of use of rocks in their training.
As a woman, Yi focused on her endurance and agility. Many heavy rocks were tied tightly throughout her whole body, and she sprinted from one place to another, punching and kicking wildly.
The Giants weren't fond of techniques and concepts. They relied on their natural ability to berserk to solve all of their problems.
"Haaa !" Yi screamed. Her face was wet from the sweat, and some of her hair stuck to her neck. She went berserk, and her fair body began to turn deep red, like the color of blood. Her pupils changed color and became red like her skin. Her muscles expanded and her body grew in size. She could feel her blood being poured into her muscles, and her every cell expanded like a balloon. Smoke started coming out of her skin, as if she wasn't a giant but a huge engine.
She bent her body and stomped her leg. Her body propelled forward and she couldn't even feel the weights tied around her body. She turned her body and rotated her leg, kicking a huge stationary rock.
*Boom*
The rock cracked, and a depression was created which resembled a cylinder.
Old Han got up and fetched a barrel of water. Giants needed a lot of water after their berserk phase, as their body would become dry and their was a danger of dehydration. Yi stood still for a while until her berserk state disappeared. Her skin was still sending out fumes of steam, and she panted lightly while she walked towards the barrel.
She quickly gulped down water which made her clothes made of hide wet. Due to the ability to berserk, both male and female giants wore little clothes made of material which was elastic and could keep up with their berserk. Yi was the same, and she only had her chest and her bottom covered with a skirt made of hide. Her hair were tied with a white piece of cloth.
"Little girl ! Haven't I told you that you don't need to train. Once you marry me, you won't have any worries." a voice traveled to the duo. A group led by a middle aged giant neared Old Han's tent. Old Han furrowed his brows, this man called Tong was a troublesome person, specially because he was the Chief of the Tribe.
Yi snorted, and turned her head towards the guest while s.h.i.+elding her grandfather. "Humph. Why are you here ?"
Tong smiled as he rubbed the totem pole in his hands. "Of course, I'm here to meet my future wife."
"Who is your future wife ?" Yi said as she dashed towards him. Her body berserked once more and she was almost near the chief. The chief stood calmly as he waved his hand. One of his lackeys came forward and berserked in response. He two red giants neared each other and the lackey punched, ignoring the fact that his opponent was a woman.
Yi thrust her hand forward and hit the extended hand with the back of her palm, changing the direction of the incoming punch. The lackey did not expect this and he opened his eyes wide. Yi moved her foot forward and punched the inside of his shoulder which was a vital spot with her other hand, followed by a punch to his face. The lackey was immediately knocked out and fell on his back.
Her anger wasn't quelled and her moved her head towards the chief. The chief was startled by her growth, she wasn't far from her next berserk, the orange state. The moment she looked at him he quickly tapped the totem pole in his hand. The totem pole was made of the bones of an unknown beast, and it had a small skull on the top and looked quite fas.h.i.+onable. The totem pole quivered a little and a shock wave traveled in Yi's direction. Yi who had almost punched the chief was blown off and spit some blood.
"Little girl, do not struggle ! It is your fate and honor to become the mother of my kids." The chief said sharply, then turned his head towards Old Han.
"Old man, do you think that you can rebel by teaching people some lousy techniques ? Humph, you are a disgrace as a giant."
The chief waved his hands, and the lackeys followed while carrying the person who was just knocked out.
Yi got up and wiped her mouth with the back of her palm. Chief Tong wasn't merciful, as dealt her a vicious attack. If she wasn't in her berserk state she would have seriously gotten injured.
"You performed well." Old Han neared her and said.
"But he has the totem !" Yi clenched her fist and said.
"You must persevere. One day, it will be yours." Old Han said, as his eyes shone.

Druid Colony, Gateway Continent.
While Claire was away slaughtering beasts and grabbing herbs, two figures sat on a crudely made stone bench facing a s.e.xy woman in conservative wuxia clothing.
"Magic is mysterious, and is difficult to understand. What we try to do is find order within chaos, through experimenting and trial and error..." Yun Bao spoke as she explained the phenomenon called as magic.
Two hours later she stopped, then tossed over a scroll to Madhu. "These are all the magic spells that are commonly used. Practice them well and try to chant it according to the method I described before. Remember, try to articulate it properly, or there would be accidents."
The s.e.xy senior didn't wait for their reaction and she immediately went inside her tent. Param stared at the scroll in Madhu's hands, feeling disappointed. The Druids hardly knew the logic behind the working of magic. They only used trial and error to find new spells, and many of them were found accidentally. For example, one was found when a druid tried to imitate a beast's voice, another one was a bathroom singer and made a discovery while singing. There was even one druid who once had a sore throat and made a discovery when she spoke through her dry throat !
In short, although Yun Bao taught them the technique to use magic, Param felt as if he did not actually 'learn' anything.
"We can only depend on ourselves." Madhu sighed and said.
The two walked into their tent and began a.n.a.lyzing the spells.

Somewhere on the Gateway Continent.
Deep into a vast cave, various torches lit. The place was well ventilated and clearly not naturally formed. Many beasts sat in a circle with respectful expressions, their eyes s.h.i.+ning with intelligence. At the center of the circle were five beasts, all having humanoid structures. These beasts had clearly broken through their boundaries and gained intelligence ages ago. Although they were from different species, it seemed as if their end path in evolution was similar, as they all looked more or less the same. In the middle of the circle were various fruits and nuts, and even some crudely made alcohol.
The silence in the cave was broken by a Tiger-like Sage beast. He communicated with all using the unique hand signs.
"There have been many killings of the young ones by the invaders. Those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds are even stealing the gifts of the nature !" He spoke angrily and grabbed a handful of nuts, stuffing his mouth as if his previous anger was a lie.
"Those people are maybe hunting for us. I even secretly saw those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds take out our brother's body apart ! Those evil creatures literally separated his organs !" a Wolf-like Sage beast spoke sadly, as he ate a few nuts and gobbled the pungent alcohol.
"Those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds deserve to die !" the Bear-like Sage beast spoke to the point, and received a lot of cheers from the audience.
"But how do we fight ? Those evil creatures have many mysterious things to attack !" the Ape-like Sage beast said.
"Should we ask for one of the Sovereign's help ?" the Lizard-like Sage beast said, and the cave suddenly became silent. All of them knew that if a Sovereign entered the game, not only would they kill the intruders, but also destroy a large part of the forest.
The silence prolonged, until the Tiger-like Sage beast spoke : "They won't help us. For them, all creatures are puny existences."
All eyes stared at the Tiger-like Sage beast. He was the informal de-facto leader of all. They were waiting for his decision.
The Tiger-like Sage beast sighed. "We'll have to make use of the Ancient beasts."
