"I know our circ.u.mstances make that to be no longer possible, I am linked to you in a different way. However, I do have hope that when this is all over and we are separate. I hope that this task is done with to both of our satisfaction. With that feeling, that you can forgive me for my rash actions to keep me around as a valued friend. I would hate it after going through some much that you would feel our ties would be better severed. I would hate to meet you on the road as strangers. I'd like to smile and stop for a chat."
"That would be too bad, I agree. I don't think I would like that at all." Ellie shook his hand vigorously. "I think I'd like to be friends."
He took her hand in his and was surprised to find that even on the cusp of former illness her grasp was firm and even radiated some good heat. She was so warm it felt as if he had felt the breeze from a car heating up the vehicle. It made him feel delighted that she had come through her adversity with a nice robust health to return to fates willing.
As their hands moved away, Ellie spoke up, "I wanted to ask a bit about the arrangements regarding his scholars.h.i.+p and income. As events have unfolded this way, I have a.s.sumed that he will no longer be getting any of that money as I didn't exactly fulfill the terms of the agreement that we signed when we started."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
Henry thought about it as he straightened his tie and the cuffs on the sleeves of his dress s.h.i.+rt. It would be much easier to withdraw their ties completely. To be untangled such that no problems would arise would be something that an intelligent person would do such to avoid future problems. That income he was giving was a nice sum of money to have as side account slowly increasing. In turn, Henry couldn't help admitting to himself that Nolan was quite a bit of a brat to deal with and to be free of this burden would be nice. It would be essentially killing two birds with one well-aimed stone. But looking at Ellie's earnest eyes he could not speak. He couldn't do it like this. "I can't do that. It is a thought to be had, but I'm not going to take that away. You've done more than enough by taking my hand and accepting my ring on your finger. Your marriage to me was the true reason why I came to the hospital that day. You agreed and what is done is done."
"That's very kind of you." Her eyes looked at him with admiration, but her flush and sudden slack position made him look at her with concern. She had suddenly become tired?
"Oh, you should be getting some sleep. I didn't know your energy was like this." He said quickly in apology as he put his hand on her back reflexively. "Sometimes you seem so vivacious that I forget that you did just have surgery. This is solely my fault for not paying attention to your needs and your nurses. Do you want me to help you to get to the bed?"
