Henry nodded slowly. He understood the feeling as he had grown up with two different cultures as well. He knew too that it was bad form for employees to sit and talk to much about their boss. It could cause problems down the road so it was better to stifle the root before it grew to a TV interview. "I appreciate that you showed me these things. Can you put these in my bedroom so I can figure out the best way to present these to the lady? I'd like to incorporate these into a surprise for her."
It wasn't easy as he had never really planned a surprise for someone else. But once he thought about what was be the warmest place for Ellie to remember her parents, he decided to hide it in one of the drawers in the living room. It was a hidden away place such that it wouldn't be found, but he had Rightley lock it for the day so it wouldn't be disturbed until the following day when he would unveil the surprise. He knew based on Ellie's earlier reaction that it would be an excellent way to end the night.
But his relief at solving his dilemma was short lived as even as far away as england, trouble found him in the form of a private detective. Henry was not happy when the man sat him down in his small sitting area to present him with a letter. Henry looked violent from the letter to the business card he had been handed by the gentlemen.
He turned to Michael who creased forehead spoke volumes over the butler's absolute stillness. "Do I have to call a lawyer here? Today?" The envelope trembled in his hand as he knew that nothing good would come from it.
The detective wrinkled his nose. "No, you don't have to. I'm not an officer of the law and I'm not arresting you. I was just paid a generous sum of money by a woman calling herself Dorota to track you down and hand that to you in person." His accent was America so his story did check out. "Seeing I have delivered the package in good faith. You are Henry Wong and this is the home where you live with your aristocratic wife then I've fulfilled my obligations. I can get back over the pond to my normal business. But I can offer you some condolences that you've gotten yourself mixed up with the wrong people my friend. You should call a lawyer, but not to deal with me."
Henry bit his lip reflexively as Michael escorted the gentlemen out. As the door was closed behind the two, Henry weighed the paper in his hand before tearing open one side. But before he could read it, Michael s.n.a.t.c.hed the letter from it and put it back into the envelope.
"Hey," Henry reached up quickly as even the envelope was pulled from his grasp. "I was going to read that. It's sent to me."
Michael opened the letter and read it aloud. "To the son of my brother-in-law, do not think that your actions will save you. The investigator you have no doubt dismissed due to your arrogance that my hands don't extend to your castle in England. They do I have done some digging and found to my delight that it is impossible for you to have had a previous attachment to your false Lady Ellie Chen-Braye. I don't even think she's real royalty. Maybe you bought that as well. I heard from the nurses in the hospital that you only just met there. I have a sworn testimony that you discussed a marriage with mutual benefits from a nurse who was listening to what was going on.
How fitting too that this marriage is now falling apart. I cannot say that I am unhappy to see this as an annulment is a stain on all of the Wong family. There will be long standing rumors that the head CEO is not a good man. I know that your dearly departed father would be disgusted in you. Conrad was controlling of you, I do agree with you when I heard you told some other ladies when you were fifteen. It's a shame too to speak badly of your elders. I know for a fact that when I bring forth a suit with the help of our excellent family lawyers that they will be sympathetic to my cause. They will see through this ruse that you have made. I'm so horrified that you have made a mockery of the core tenants of this family. I cannot believe that you would choose such a lowborn race car driver in an attempt to try to avoid your duties which were set in stone by your good father. Such a good man's ideas torn to shreds by a reality TV star to stain our dynasty.
I will be winning it all back for myself. Although I am not your relative by blood, I know I can help my children to overtake you. I am loathe to take everything from you, but I know that it will do you good in the end. Maybe you should head to a rehabilitation facility or a monastery for ten or more years. I would be willing to pay for you to disappear. It would benefit your temper greatly. I am giving you this kindness because your deal uncle and I will act as your guardians. We will takeover your entire share of the family fortune. We will be like surrogate parents to you now that you have none. You are still acting as a child so we need to step in. But even so, we will make sure that you feel included in some larger decisions. If this does not sit right with you, I promise that it will turn out in your favor. Our cards are all on the table as we are very honest people. But if you choose to ignore this outstretched hand of our good intentions, we will be taking legal actions and staging a medical intervention.
Our pleasure will come to you within a month where we will come with help. I hope you accept what's good for you. Respect is important. I am your elder, my dear, remember.
Dorota Wong."
