Gou Da Qing's words were in accordance to the recording. Due to it being the presidential suite, they had to pay more attention to privacy. As a result, there was no monitor in front of the room. But they indeed saw Gou Da Qing going upstairs in the recording.
Lu He Nian pushed his gla.s.ses up, his gaze looked faint, yet his heart had a streak of worry. She couldn't have gone far in half an hour. He started to walk out while saying: "Use our contacts to get information on traffic cameras. We shall also look along the way."
He was truly anxious about the little lady once again being deceived and going to that kind of places.
Secretary Zhang got in touch with the related department while following after Lu He Nian. When they were in the car, he immediately told the driver to drive slowly as they looked at the pedestrians walking on the roadside.
Hais.h.i.+ Police Department wasn't that far from Haijing Hotel. It took about five minutes to walk on foot, driving a car would be much quicker. When the car arrived at an intersection, a young lady wearing a yellow dress could be seen walking unhurriedly. She looked dazed, seemingly unhappy.
How could Yun Rong be happy? Thinking that she must strive to acquire 100 million, she felt her head about to burst. This was really making things difficult for her, this mountain demon ah!
Just as Yun Rong was feeling miserable, she lamented to herself, she might be a majestic mountain demon, but she could not stay on the mountain to hear the human's prayers and enjoy their offerings, while also helping them with favourable weather to grow crops and get abundant harvest. Instead, she had to come down to the city to make money. This kind of things of the world were not permanent and could change over time. The s.p.a.ce between her eyebrows suddenly jumped. Before her eyes, a trace of yin energy floated vaguely.
What ghostly stuff was this? Yun Rong knitted her brows. She raised her head only to see a man drenched from head to toe in blood standing at the not-so-distant intersection. The blood on his hand slowly dripped onto the ground and turned into shreds of black smoke.
“Yuan Jia Nan, come here, come to this uncle's side……." He stood there while streams of vehicles pa.s.sed through his body without any obstruction. The corner of his mouth split open to reveal a laugh. He waved while facing the not-so-distant roadside.
A vendor selling Chinese pancakes was at the side of the road. It happened to be the time when people went to work and the vendor's front was surrounded by over ten office workers and students who were in a hurry. With efficient movement, a middle aged lady with dark skin was concentrating on preparing the pancakes' dough.
She didn't pay the slightest attention to her five-year-old son who had slowly become closer to the middle of the road.
"Yuan Jia Nan, come here quickly~" The man's voice wasn't too loud, yet it was heard clearly in the little boy's ears.
Yuan Jia Nan, who was crouching and counting the ants on the road, stood up. He looked around puzzledly until his sight locked into the crossroad. In a short moment, he became bewildered and took several steps with his short legs. Step by step, walking towards the intersection.
When Yun Rong lifted her head, Yuan Jia Nan was just two metres away from the man. Not far away, a big truck was turning a corner and coming through quickly. The driver was suddenly overcome with unbearable sleepiness and subconsciously ma.s.saged his eyes. When he opened his eyes once again, the truck had almost reached the intersection. When the truck was three or four metres away from the intersection, a small boy slowly walked over.
The driver's heart shook. His drowsiness disappeared without a trace and he felt his heart wanted to jump out of his throat. He exerted his whole body's strength onto pressing the brake. His heart chanted two words: Done for, done for…….
Such a close distance, a big truck with full capacity, it was simply impossible to suddenly stop!
The surrounding people who saw this scene and had a quick nerve had already produced loud shouts and shrieks.
There's not enough time…….
Yu Rong's gaze turned cold. She broke into a run and dashed in the direction of the little boy. Everyone felt a shadow flash past their eyes. When they came out of their daze, they saw that a young lady had arrived in front of the truck. In the next breath, she had already held the little boy in her arms and gone five or six metres away.
"Yun Rong!" Lu He Nian's car was on the other side of the road. He had just gotten down from the car when he caught sight of Yun Rong rus.h.i.+ng over. His heartbeat subconsciously missed half a beat and he anxiously called out.
Getting knocked by such a big truck, one would definitely lose one's life.
But his voice just fell and the big truck had flashed by, obstructing his anxious line of sight. The heavy screeching sound of a sudden brake followed. On the asphalt road, a strip of black tire impression was left.
"Yun Rong……." Lu He Nian's face turned deathly white, and his body froze for a second before he ran towards the big truck. He slowly stopped when he reached the side of the big truck. Then he crouched to check the situation while shuddering, but he heard the crisp and melodious sound of a young lady from a place not too far from him.
"Next time, if a stranger calls you, don't listen, understood?" Yun Rong, who was holding Yuan Jia Nan, arrived at the side of the road and she let the little boy down. Then she reprimanded him while poking his forehead.
Then once again, she turned her head to look around her, just now someone seemed to have called her.
Yuan Jia Nan, the little boy had just received a big scare. He could not get any words out and just blankly nodded his head.
"Nan Nan1…" From the side, the boy's mother almost tripped as she ran over. Not caring that she had oil and flour on her hands, she hugged Yuan Jia Nan into her embrace. "You frightened mama to death, you want to take mama's life ah..." There was a bit of difference from before and after. She was just about to see her only child get knocked down by a truck. At that moment, she had felt her heart stop beating.
After crying for two seconds, the boy's mother once again released Yuan Jia Nan. Wiping her tears, her face exposed an angry expression and her hand slapped his small backside. She scolded: "Your nerve is so big, is it? Playing in the middle of the road, do you want to make me angry to death ah, what an unlucky child."
Seeing the little child crying loudly, Yun Rong felt that she needed to explain, "He didn't do it on purpose……."
"Yun! Rong!" She had not finished speaking yet but she heard a slightly angry voice coming from behind her.
“Being knocked by such a big truck, one would definitely…” get isekaied!! Don't lie, I know you thought the same when truck-san made its appearance!
I'm not sure if I had already commented on this, but just in case I will say it again. The kanjis used to refer to the ‘demons' like Yun Rong or Gou Da Qing have several meanings, can mean demon or G.o.d or monster or ghost, at times. Although I guess you already don't do that, it is wrong to imagine them as the ‘westerner' conception we have of demons. In my mind (and forgive me bc I don't know much of chinese tales and folklore so I cannot be more accurate), this so-called ‘demons' are like the chinese equivalent to the j.a.panese youkai, so kinda spiritual/supernatural ent.i.ties, but it would look this ones are more tied to cultivation stuff (not a fan of cultivation either so I cannot go into detail with that either). Meaning, this demons are not the ‘evil' type of demon (some of them are evil tho), but the ‘owning supernatural powers' type of demon. Up until now, the ent.i.ties YR has dealt with were what we all imagine as ghosts, remnants of a soul's resentment and grievances that haunt people or places. As for Yun Rong, she is also one of this demons, but in the past, powerful demons who cultivated and obtained a human form were revered by humans and were called ‘G.o.ds' (well that's all my own guessing but it kinda makes sense, right?). So, when viewed from the demons' point of view (including herself), Yun Rong will be called a demon; while, when using the humans' point of view, we will be using G.o.ddess. I hope this makes it clear to anyone who might have felt confused with the usage of both demon and G.o.ddess to refer to our MC^^
1: Repeating one's name (in this case Nan Nan for Jia Nan) is an endearing way to call someone, especially for children (used by the family or close friends) and also your lover. Similar to the use of Xiao (小), Ah (阿), 'er (儿) .
