Lyn took a moment before she replied. "Just because." Two simple words that didn't really answer his question. But she knew Rhys wouldn't question her. Indeed Rhys responded by brus.h.i.+ng his lips against hers.
A content sigh pa.s.sed her lips. It felt comfortable. She didn't understand what this was. But it felt nice, 'this was for the best.' If she remained with Kazuya and things progressed this way with Rhys. It would only hurt him. However this feeling, is it okay?
'It's wrong.' Somewhere in the back of her mind. Lyn knew all of this was wrong. Yet, she reached over and ran her hands through his hair as he kissed her pa.s.sionately once again. A pa.s.sionate kiss, sweet words of love. Any girl should be satisfied with this. However, Lyn knew something was missing. Even if Rhys can fill the gap in her heart, and the emptiness. This feeling won't last long.
After kissing for a few minutes, Rhys pulled away from her and sat up. He gently brushed the strands of hair away from her face. "I will make you something to eat. Just stay here."
Lyn somehow nodded her head. It seems like kissing Rhys intently was a very bad idea. Her entire body ached from the fight earlier.
He reached over with his free hand to touch her forehead, "Are you feeling unwell?".
"N---no I'm just…a bit tired…
Just tiredness huh… Clearly it was a lie. That fight from earlier wore her out. However, Rhys doesn't need to know that. Her thoughts broke off when he brushed his fingers against her lips. The sensation of his fingers on her lips made her feel strange. For a moment Lyn looked away, but she quickly glanced to see his expression.
Concern and worry flashed through his eyes.
"Your lips look pale and your cheeks are cold," Rhys commented. He looked her up and down, "Are you injured somewhere?"
Lyn laughed lightly, " Aha…you found out? I was cold."
Rhys pulled her into his arms, covering them both with a blanket, "You'll be warm if we do this no?"
"Are we natural disaster survivors? Why don't we use the heating?"
"I'm not sure. Though it is in an abandoned location. There is another blanket over there but you're going to have to get it."
As he said that though, a large thundering sound was heard. Lyn brought herself closer to him. "Ah, but you can't move."
"Gee. Your supposed to be the gentleman and get the other blanket," Lyn mumbled.
"Hmm, but you know I can't leave either."
Lyn sighed, "I don't like this either. But I'll put up with it. It's true that it's pretty warm anyway." This warmth is different than the one she felt when she is around Kazuya. However, there is something comforting about it.
"That so? It's too bad you can't be cute and just admit that it's comfortable in my arms."
"Why do I have to do that?" Lyn trails off. Her expression changed when she saw him flinching slightly, "Hey…, are your injuries healed up?"
"Almost, in a fort night or two they'll be fine".
"I see," Lyn looked at him with a frustrated look on her face. "You don't want me to do anything about it?"
She still doesn't understand why he is so against her using her healing magic. However judging from his expression, Lyn felt that if she said anything more than Rhys would get mad. Indeed, a frustrated look appeared on his face again.
"Princess Lyn, I appreciate the fact that you trust me. But, I'm still your enemy."
Lyn reached over and traced his lips with her fingers. "Mmm, I know that much. You're my enemy, but despite your cruel behaviour at times. You treat me very well."
"Did it ever occur to you that I may be deceiving you?"
"Well, that thought crossed my mind a lot." Lyn nodded. She can't deny thinking that way since for a long time she suspected him. Unlike Kazuya, she could not tell what he was thinking. This man from the very straight has always been very strange to her.
His lips curve to a smile, "And yet you're still here, with me of all people?"
"Because I know you won't harm me."
"How can you be so sure? I'm not like Kazuya. I've hurt a lot of people and no, n.o.body ordered me."
"Even then--" at that comment Lyn suddenly found herself on the ground. The blanket that was wrapped around both of them moments ago was thrown aside. She was no longer in his arms but on the cold ground.
"Rhys."
"Don't kid yourself," he mumbled as he brought his lips to her neck. "From the very start Princess Lyn, I intended to get in yours and Kazuya's way. I knew he wouldn't do his mission properly. When he realized who you were, I knew he would back down."
"Then, why didn't you do anything sooner?" Lyn questioned.
"Because you won me over with your foolish honesty." Rhys sighed and her eyes widened at his words. "From the start I intended to betray you. Up till recently I was thinking of doing it still. However, it seems I can't do anything to you Princess."
'So, that's why.' Lyn thought. Recently she felt something had changed between them. So this person is serious about her? Lyn still doesn't understand the relations.h.i.+p between a man and a woman very well. However, if Rhys is indeed serious about her. Lyn knew she would no longer be able to ignore him like before.
"You keep saying Princess, Princess." Lyn wrapped her arms around his neck. "But, won't you call me by my name?"
Rhys brought his lips to hers and softly muttered, "Lyn…" before he started kissing her. Another round of intense kissing.
'Her lips are so damaged lately.' Lyn didn't know much about beauty care. So her damaged lips is an issue. Recently Gabrielle seems so busy, so Lyn didn't want to bother her friend. There is one other person she could ask. But asking Beth didn't seem right to her.
