When she is around people like that, it makes Lyn remember how she never truly tried or made the effort. No, whenever she made the effort to do something. She would surrender and give up halfway because it was too painful for her. Whenever she saw how enthusiastic people were, Lyn felt envious. How nice is it to have something they could work hard on? Something they could try and do their best in. She didn't have anything like that. For the longest time Lyn wanted to change things as Lyn. But even that goal of hers seemed so small. If she truly wanted to make a change, she could have done so a long time ago.
Lyn watched the cigarette in her hands until the last piece crumbled onto the ground.
"Are you going to pick him up?"
She nodded, "Mm, I think I should. Enough is enough."
"Shouldn't you get treated first?"
Lyn laughed lightly. "No need I will be fine. But please clear up properly here." With those words said she walked off.
The area she fought in was in the forest close to the main gate. That's why Lyn used simple magic and martial arts to fight those people away. With her body in this condition, it took her much longer than she thought it would. Still, the sun is up. Rather, it was still early, not even sunrise.
Lyn thought she could finish up quickly and go back to see if she could catch Rhys. But when she heard s.h.i.+oka's words, she immediately knew where he was. Then again isn't she the one deliberately avoiding him? It's obvious where he was the entire time. If she wanted, she could have gone to him a long time ago.
It's probably like she thought it was, in there own way everyone is trying to move forward. Everyone is trying to take that step forward. A step forward huh? She wondered if she was making a difference at all. Lyn wondered if like the others, she was changing. She is already sixteen years old. Yet she still has such doubts in her heart. It really wasn't good. In that place she felt as though she was much stronger, even though she was further away from Yuhi then. She felt as though she was stronger, and could handle anything.
However, recently that strength and motivation she had before? It seemed to vanish as each day pa.s.sed by. She was glad she avoided it.'There are some rumours going Rhys is interested in you is true. You know him well don't you?'.
Sheesh why did Narsan have to ask that question for. It really did make her feel nervous, and she really didn't know how to answer either. How was she meant to answer that? A lot had happened since she came here. She met so many people, so many people she created bonds with. She couldn't answer a question like that. Besides Rhys and her…especially because it's him, she can't answer a question like that.
Lyn found him exactly where she thought he would. So many girls surrounded him. He was currently kissing one of them intently. From the looks of things here, it was clear what happened. A deep sigh crossed her lips, 'Well, he already warned her in advance.' Lyn knew he was still seeing other people. It's not like they are in a relations.h.i.+p.
She took a deep breath and strolled over. Other people already saw her and frowned. Some people however stepped back when she came. The one Rhys was kissing however looked very annoyed.
"Tell her to go," that was the first thing Lyn said when Rhys noticed her.
"Will you replace her then?"
"I will."
Rhys sighed and pulled the girl away from him. He picked up his bag, and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I've paid already, you girls can have fun without me."
She hears the girls protest but Rhys was already pulling her away. He didn't say anything until they arrived outside, even then he didn't use words. Rhys pushed her against the entrance wall and kissed her.
"Why did you come here?" Rhys questioned.
"I had to pick you up."
"You're so annoying," he mumbled. "You do realize your status right? Don't walk into the red light district so easily."
Lyn traced his lips with her fingers, "Would you stop ignoring me if I didn't come to you?"
"..."
She bent down and kissed him. "I'm very sorry, I know I was acting stubborn. Don't brood anymore, okay?"
Rhys seemed reluctant but nodded. "Okay, let's go back."
...…..
When Lyn woke up she found Rhys arms still wrapped firmly around her waist. 'He didn't leave.' How peculiar. Lyn isn't used to somebody being around when she is awake. But unlike Kazuya, Rhys always stays. He doesn't rush of. Her body felt terrible and Lyn knew without looking at the mirror what her face looked like. She glanced down and spotted bandages on her arms.
He must have patched her up before sleeping. 'What a hopeless man.' Lyn carefully moved his hands away from her waist. But Rhys tightened his hold.
"Are you awake?"
"Go back to sleep Lyn, it's still early."
"I wanted to do some studying. I won't disturb you."
Rhys brought his lips to her neck. "Stubborn girl, just rest already." he trailed off. "I know your tired Lyn. Wasn't it difficult? Today's job."
"A little," Lyn admitted, "But it was nothing I hadn't done before. Rhys, what are you doing?" she noticed his hands were on her clothes. "I don't think I got hurt there."
"I have ulterior motives. Let me pretend to check your non existent wound."
Lyn rolled her eyes and she shook her head. "Don't."
Rhys frowned and sighed. "Why did you drag me out of that place if we can't do anything fun?" he moved away from her and turned away. Lyn looked at his back for a few minutes before she buried her face there. "What are you doing?"
"I'm very uneasy and afraid. The more time pa.s.ses by the more scared I become. I won't be able to avoid things I have been this entire time."
"Yeah."
Lyn laughed weakly, "Will you do me a favour Rhys?"
"What is it?"
"If you think it's too much for me. Please decide for me, and take me away from here. I don't want to fall apart in front of so many people. So please promise me this."
"You're so selfish Lyn."
"Yes."
Rhys turned around and caressed her face. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "I can do that for you. I'm conflicted though, I want you to fall apart now so I can take you away. Aren't you afraid I will decide randomly based on my emotions?"
"There is a chance for that to happen."
"Then, why would you do this..?"
