"h.e.l.lo" Ha Eun mumbled over the phone.
"Ha Eun…where are you? I came to your office, but you're not here" it was the voice of Mr. Oh. Ha Eun widened her eyes and sat up on the bed. Her headache was gone, and she was stone-cold sober. She looked at her alarm clock. She's late to work by an hour!
"Oh!" Ha Eun didn't want to answer that so she replied to him with a different question "How can I help you?" she said as she hurried to the closet to pick out her clothes.
"Well, I wanted to talk to you about the party," Mr. Oh said. Ha Eun had no idea what he was talking about "You remember, don't you? The party to commemorate your marriage."
They talked about it the first day the couple met with Ha Eun's family. Well, it wasn't much of a talk. It was mostly Mr. Oh telling them beforehand what he was planning on doing.
Ha Eun closed her eyes, took a deep breath then let it out. Mr. Oh didn't have to finish his train of thought; she already knew what he was going to say.
"h.e.l.lo? Ha Eun, are you there?" Mr. Oh asked.
"Yes. I'm here" she answered.
"Oh, good. The party will be tonight at our vacation home. I'll have a driver pick you up tonight," he said. Ha Eun widened her eyes. Tonight?! Why didn't he tell her about this earlier? A party like this, everyone will be well dressed, and there will be reporters.
Ha Eun didn't have any new clothes, and Chang Wook doesn't have any clothes fit for a party of this caliber.
"You don't have to worry about clothes and makeup. I sent a group of people to your home that will help you with that" Mr. Oh said. Ha Eun was confused.
"Also, you and son-in-law don't have to worry about coming in to work. After all that drinking the two of you must have horrible hangovers."
Ha Eun didn't know how to answer. How did he know Chang Wook and her were drinking?
"Next time try not to have a date in your place of work…where there are many cameras and people that work overnight…who have phones" Mr. Oh had a smile on his face when he said that. Ha Eun could tell he was smiling, but she felt utterly exposed and embarra.s.sed. Why is Mr. Oh the one that has to catch her doing such things with Chang Wook?
First, when he knocked on their door while she and Chang Wook were doing indecent stuff and now he caught them on a date that was supposed to be at night and in private.
"A picture is circulating among the employees of you and Chang Wook having a good time in the break room."
Ha Eun's face was red as an apple as she wished for the conversation to be over. Mr. Oh laughed, he knew Ha Eun was embarra.s.sed, he could hear her hyperventilating breaths over the phone.
"Well, I'll see the two of you tonight," Mr. Oh said, and then he hung up.
Ha Eun looked into s.p.a.ce as she slowly walked towards the bed and then sat down. She let go of her phone then placed both her hands over her face as she wished that date to have never happened. What will happen when she goes to work tomorrow? She'll be a laughingstock.
"I knew it was a bad idea, I knew it yet I still went and had a date with Chang Wook" she inhaled then exhaled with a loud groan.
She left her room and went to knock on Chang Wook's door. There was no answer. She opened the door to see Chang Wook's head and torso on the floor and his legs on the bed. He was also s.h.i.+rtless.
"How can someone sleep in such an uncomfortable position?" she whispered.
She walked towards him and said his name loudly to try and wake him up, but that didn't work, so she went to the kitchen, got a gla.s.s of water and poured it on his face.
That woke him up with a shudder. "Why would you do that?!" he yelled at Ha Eun. Ha Eun raised an eyebrow at him as she crossed her arms over her chest.
He stood up thinking that he shouldn't have yelled at her so loudly, so he quickly apologized, "I'm so sorry Ha Eun. I didn't mean to yell at you. I don't know what I was thinking"
"I came to yell at you because pictures of us last night are circulating among the employees, but since you look like s.h.i.+t, I'll leave it at that. Mr. Oh is throwing a party to celebrate our marriage." Ha Eun told him. Suddenly the doorbell rings.
"Who's that?" Chang Wook asks.
"Must be the helpers" Ha Eun said. She goes to leave when her head suddenly hurts, and she stumbles. Chang Wook grabs her in time.
"Are you okay?" he asks her.
"Just hungover."
"Yeah. I had no idea you couldn't hold your liquor" Chang Wook says and chuckles. Ha Eun looks at his smile and the arms around her. She shrugs him off and heads to the door.
"Ha Eun, wait!" he said. She turns her head.
"What?" she asks in an annoyed tone.
Chang Wook is a bit embarra.s.sed to ask as he looks down and plays around with his fingers "Do you…um…do you by chance…" he clears his throat and looks directly at her "Do you remember what happened last night?"
Ha Eun clears her throat as she answers, "We had dinner, drank, then got back home."
"Yeah, but do you remember what happened after you drank?" Chang Wook asked.
Ha Eun cheeks flush red. She looks out the door, then back at Chang Wook "That…that doesn't matter right now. Get dressed. We have company," she said. She quickly leaves, and Chang Wook hears her opening the door and greeting a few people.
He looks down with a smile "She remembers," he whispered to himself.
