Ever since Johan had bitten a part of Anna chest while she had mounted him, his opponents fans in the crowd had started to chant calling him names.
The chants slowly got louder and louder.
But Johan didn't care. He was used to being called names. This was nothing compared to the discouragement he had grown up facing. He had always been the outcast, his own person, and for that rumors would often circulate about him and jerks that didn't have anything better to do would often give him insulting nick names. But never did he let it phase his pride, because he knew deep down he was better and more honorable than those naysayers. He focused on himself, rather than others.
Johan's ability to see without using his eyes was proving to be an invaluable resource while fighting Anna. It allowed him to avoid the majority of damage from Anna's attacks. It was an ability he was unable to use in the dream world.
"Ha!," laughed Johan. "I've been called much worse than that! Is that the best you can do!? Most of your insults don't even make sense ya bunch of morons!"
Johan shook his head in pain. His nose had inflamed and it was hard to breath. The area underneath his eyes had darkened. His nose had been broken but he couldn't afford to be distracted by the pain it caused. He couldnt let his difficulty breathing effect his focus or performance. He had to stay in the moment, alert, engaged. Anna was too strong for him to drop his guard and give anything less than 100% to this fight. He refused to give up here, not after the sheer amount of training and effort he'd put in to get here. He had shed so much Blood, sweat and grueling effort to get to this point.
Everything seemed against him. The crowd was discouraging him, Gadra had betrayed him, and Hanuman and his father were quiet and not even pus.h.i.+ng him on. Furthermore, even though he was avoiding Anna's critical hits, the damage was building up. He would periodically throw out a handful of sand at Anna, and it would fire out like a bullet hitting her and stopping her attack in its tracks. All Johan had at that moment was his sheer tenacity and stubbornness, that made him push on rather than give up.
Johan's recent confident yell was a bluff to discourage Anna.
Johans body was covered with bruises and wounds and Anna while bruised and wounded hadn't taken nearly as much damage as Him. He simply couldn't sense her when she was behind the scenes, and it was proving to be a major disadvantage.
A dark shadow cast over the arena.
The once cloudless sky had suddenly filled with clouds.
He ignored the weather and focused on the fight.
Don't waste one movement ...
Don't think ...
Focus ...
Keep moving ...
Attack!
Dodge!
Attack!
Grunt your teeth and take the hit.
Don't let the pain slow you.
Move! Back, back, left, left, forward, right! Repeat! Attack!
Don't give her time to land a preplanned power strike.
Vary the pace.
Pretend you are going to attack!
Keep your arms up blocking your head from attacks ...
Predict her next move ...
Bet on a counter attack ...
Maybe it will hit, maybe not, but don't let missing stop you.
Attack!
Attack !
Johan got lost in the moment. He felt more like he was dancing rather than fighting. Sticking to his basics while continuing to move in unpredictable patterns while continuously kicking up a sand storm and throwing sand at Anna.
Without Anna's ability to see Johan clearly unless she was behind the scenes the tables had evened out. It had become a game of attrition.
If they kept fighting, and taking each other's. .h.i.ts, one of them would loose their focus and speed first.
A half hour past, and the crowd was getting frustrated because they couldn't see what was going on.
Boooooo!!!!
Booooooo!!!
The crowd yelled in disapproval of the fight.
Johan was drenched in sweat, but so was Anna. They were both breathing heavy, and because of the pace and intensity of the fight. Both even with inhuman endurance were getting taxed continuously moving at such high speeds.
However, the wear was. .h.i.tting Johan harder because every time Anna went 'behind the scenes ', she had more time to catch her breath since time seemed to pa.s.s more slowly there.
Foooos.h.!.+
Foooss.h.!.+
Rays of bullet like handfuls of sand shot out from Johan's hand.
Anna dodged and jumped 'behind the scenes.'
Johan had an idea suddenly.
Johan followed Anna, attempting to jump 'behind the scenes,' only to hit The blockade Gadra had put up. But Johan had two handfuls of sand and whipped them at Gadra and Anna as he fell back to the arena.
Anna and Gadra had developed a false sense of safety being ' behind the scenes ' and didn't expect the attack. Nor had their skin hardened to the degree Johan's had because of the grueling training and conditions Johan had been exposed to being in the pit for nearly ten years.
"Ahhhhh!," screamed Gadra and Anna in unison.
Gadra fainted from the pain immediately as their sand tore off parts of her clothes and cut deep into her stomach.
Gadra was incredibly strong, but she wasn't a fighter accustomed to dealing with pain. Her strength and defensive ability came from her adeptness at mana manipulation. Without it, she was a human woman with G.o.dly powers.
Annas bikini top was ripped off along with chunks of her skin. But since she was an accomplished martial artist, the sand only caused her superficial wounds and minor discomfort. It just added to her already wound covered body.
Anna's eyes turned red as the pain seemed to awaken a dragon within her. Her anger reached a new level after being caught by an attack with her guard down.
"YOU WILL DIE NOW!," roared Anna as she shot forth towards Johan as if propelled by an invisible force.
A red mist appeared around her.
She is burning her blood essence.
The thought popped into Johan's mind. It was a memory from his future self.
Burning blood essence was like burning your life force. It was a technique used by elites in the outer realms to gain extra strength or energy during critical life or death times. But doing so shortened your life span and critically injured your body internally, so it was rarely used. It was a mana technique.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Anna struck out at Johan again and again at they fell to the earth. Trying to target his broken nose.
"Ughhhh!," groaned Johan.
Even though Johan managed to fend off much of the damage, many of Anna's attacks got through.
The pain threatened to make him pa.s.s out. But he knew he couldn't. This woman was insane, she would kill him if he did.
Johan's forearms swelled under the force of the blows as they reentered the sand cloud. In the sand cloud Johan quickly made distance getting away from Anna, but her aura from burning her blood essence seem to blast the sand cloud away.
"Yeeesaahhhh!!!!," cheered the crowd.
They were happy that they could once again see. But then numerous gasps could be heard as they realized what was happening.
Anna was using a mana technique, something illegal in the tournament!
"She is burning her blood essence for a tournament fight!," screamed the announcer verbalizing the crowds thoughts. "What happened in that sand cloud! Anna is topless and wounded but seems impervious to it! This hottie is not your average tough girl! And Johan is a wildcard no one saw coming!"
Johan kept running, but the speed Anna gained from burning her blood essence was too much.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Johan was getting overwhelmed and Anna's attacks were all landing.
Crack!
Johan felt his ribs break.
Crack!
Crack!
Johan's arm broke.
Rain began to downpour ominously, as if foreshadowing a grueling end to the fight, and the area a dome began to close.
Johan knew he had to do something, This was the Anna he knew. The Anna who had killed him numerous times.
He saw all the attacks but was too slow to stop them.
Mana flas.h.!.+
Anna and the crowd blocked their eyes at the blindingly bright flash of light. Temporarily blinded.
They were unaware of what had just happened.
Johan used the only technique he knew he could use in front of a crowd. Johan quickly jumped 'behind the scenes,' getting away from Anna.
Johan looked around and was surprised to see that Gadra was no longer around.
Johan let out a sigh of relief. If Gadra had decided to stick around and intervene he wasn't sure how this would have turned out.
"Now Anna, today is your loss," muttered Johan as his expression darkened. He looked down at the arena at Anna as she regained her sight. She immediately realized Johan was no longer in the arena and she leaped 'behind the scenes.'
