Tuesday morning, Xueyan sat side by side with Mei Han as the manager spoke on the phone.
On the name plate, Manager Mu was written in bold letters.
They were here for the advertis.e.m.e.nt. The company were emerging with speed into the market. At first she prayed it wouldn't be an offer from the Four Wheels, and truly it wasn't.
A new company according to the statistics. Sheng Group of Company. She never heard of it before, but the cars wasn't bad either.
She knew nothing about cars so she couldn't really say.
Xueyan stretched her hand under the table to grip her knee. Mei Han by the side noticed this and patted her back softly. Xueyan smiled in return.
Finally the manager dropped the phone.
"Miss Bai, I'm so happy you accepted our offer. It's unusual. We've given offer to some actresses but they never returned our calls. Thank you, I must say." Manager Mu was all smiles. He didn't give Xueyan any time to speak and continued. "If you will follow me," he picked up two files and strode to pull the door open for the ladies.
They entered the elevator, arriving at the ground floor the employees bowed.
The manager gestured for them to gather around.
"Miss Bai Xueyan here is our first and new model. Welcome her,"
"You're welcome Miss Bai," the employees chanted.
She felt her heart make a sweet sound.
'Oh really?'
The b.u.t.terflies in her tummy danced.
'More like growling.'
It was a good feeling. 'We pray so,'
At least she was getting somewhere.
Little did she know how the company emerged. It wouldn't take long though.
She gave a bow, "Do take care of me."
The employees clapped and went about with their work. Manager Mu took Xueyan round. Giving details on the cars.
The advert shoot would be in the evening, with their first SUV.
When they got to the shoot place, she saw the SUV, it had a barrier at the front. The advertis.e.m.e.nt was meant to prove that even if it slams into a tree, the car would safe, the driver unharmed.
The manager moved farther and Mei Han drew Xueyan back. "What kind of lie is that?"
Xueyan's eyes widened. "Shush. Don't say that out aloud."
"Well, the s.h.i.+eld or whatever will protect the car but that doesn't gaurantee the safety of the driver..." Mei Han whispered.
"It might," Xueyan scratched her head for a possible word. She sighed. "What do I do then? Tell them that?"
Mei Han quickly shook her head. "No way. We would be in trouble." She sighed softly. "I'm so useless, can't even get you good endors.e.m.e.nts."
"It's okay. We're both new to this. With time, we will know better and be in a better position too." There was no better statement to encourage them both.
Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the All Stars Media.
The elevator beeped and they stepped into their floor. An employee came forward carrying a bouquet of fresh red roses. Handing it over to Xueyan she said. "I don't know who this is, but he's certainly crazy. This is the second time for today."
She turned and walked away. Not giving them time to ask questions. Xueyan stood with a shocked Mei Han just like herself staring at the young lady. She didn't even explain.
"What did she mean just now?" Mei Han recovered after some seconds.
"I don't know. You?"
"Don't know either,"
It had been a complete week they didn't come to the office due to the drama shooting, so why would the employee give her a flower out of nowhere? No part of the drama had been leaked out, to the employees talk more of them getting her a flower.
She strode forward, headed to her own booth. Mei Han went to get snacks and tea for them. Xueyan pushed the door and was shocked senseless by what she saw. She entered and shut the door, kept the bouquet in her hand on the couch and picked another up from the floor.
What is all these? The whole floor had bouquets of flowers covering them. It look like a flower garden but in the wrong place. She examined the flowers, some at the other end was already shrinking in... Due to no fresh air, sunlight and water.
Who did this? She searched the bouquet in her hand and found what she was looking for. "Hope your day is suns.h.i.+ne and flowers with happy thoughts to fill the house." It was written on a pink card.
She picked another. "You're in my thoughts."
Another said, "Every time you see these blooms, remember someone is thinking of you!"
"You may be out of sight, but never out of mind."
"Hope this brightens your day!"
She read two more and could only sigh. She knew who it was already. XING ZHAOLIN!!! She wanted to scream that out loud. What is wrong with him? He isn't stopping anytime soon. She dreamed of how it would feel like to slap him hard on the face. He took out time everyday to do this? Wasted money on all these?
She thought of something, the young lady had said it was the second one. How many does he send in a day for it to amount to all these?
The whole room floor was covered. Now she wondered who took out time to even set them up.
She had this feeling to kick them away.
Mei Han gasped while giraffing from Xueyan's shoulder.
"My Miss sure has a big fan."
Xueyan hadn't heard the door open since she was deep in thought. She turned and glared at Mei Han. "It's not a fan. It's a psychopath."
Mei Han giggled, "If you say that Missy," she put the tray in her hand down and rubbed her two hands together, blowing hot air into them.
"What are you doing?" A bewildered Xueyan asked.
"What does it look like? I will read you the notes..."
"No, don't." Xueyan cut off. "Throw them away."
O. Mei Han mouth dropped. "This must have all cost a lot."
"He has... There's so much money that all these doesn't even count." Xueyan wished Mei Han didn't hear the he part. She wasn't ready to have questions thrown at her face.
"Alright," Mei Han started picking them up.
Xueyan took out her phone, ready to call him when a message entered.
She tapped on it. u003cA lovely and bright day it is. How are you? Are you done with your morning shoot? If yes, then order for brunch. You shouldn't act on an empty stomach. I just concluded a meeting and I'm doing good.u003e
The last three words had Xueyan wondering if he had a mental case. She didn't ask how he was doing. And what is it about a lovely day? She scowled.
She must have stared at her phone for a long time as the room was left with only a few bouquets. Mei Han tried collecting the bouquet in her hand but since Xueyan wasn't paying attention, the thorn cut through her palm.
"Ah! Are you alright?" Mei Han screamed.
"Yes, I'll be at the flower garden." Xueyan excused herself as she dialled his number.
Meanwhile Zhaolin was busy snacking on cookies, today he was out with Jiuwen. She brought him to this cafe saying everything they made and sold was good. He never knew he had such big appet.i.te until right now.
He grabbed the fruit juice by the corner and downed it.
And then his phone started vibrating, he thought he was seeing things when he saw the caller ID. He licked his lips and picked up the phone on the table.
"h.e.l.lo," he said.
"h.e.l.lo," he said again when she didn't speak up.
"Hi," she finally said.
He felt his heart swell with happiness. And his face brightened. He could feel it. He had only sent a text, he wasn't expecting a reply but he always prayed for that. But she didn't reply, instead she's calling back. She never replied to hundreds of his texts. It made him sad even if he didn't show.
She wants him far away from him, and he has tried abiding by her rules but he couldn't resist the urge of texting her always.
"Are you there?" She asked.
"Yes?"
"Let's see,"
He hated to admit this but his heart missed a beat.
"Sure," he readily answered. He didn't even know why she suddenly asked for them to see, but he was very cool with it.
"Xueyan," before he could say one more word he hung up.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You can't even hide your smiles." The voice startled an unprepared Zhaolin, as he immediately turned.
"Stop creeping up on me, Jiu."
She laughed. "Does she make you that happy?"
"Isn't it obvious?" He returned a question.
"Have you tried confessing?"
"She doesn't want me," he frowned. "Heartbreaking as it may sound, she really doesn't want me."
Jiuwen folded her hands. "Why?"
Even he himself didn't know where he went wrong. "Perhaps, for abandoning her in the past."
"Make up for it then," Jiuwen suggested.
"Easier said than done,"
"I sent them off," Zhiyang announced coming in from the door. Jiuwen scoffed and looked away.
