Qingran still didn't look back. "No,"

"Are you truly my friend? You don't like me... You really don't like me..." His tone changed and it made Qingran turn to him immediately. 

"No no. I'm your friend..."

"You are not! You don't want to eat ice-cream with me. You don't want to buy new pets with me. You don't want to go on a shopping spree with me... You don't like me." The little boy pretended to sob.

Zhaolin's eyes almost fell out of their socket. This little guy right here will make a great actor! 

"You don't want... You don't like me... You really don't like me..." Zhihao continued.

"Ok I will go with you." Qingran said and Zhihao smiled up at her. "But I still won't take any pet..."

"No, no. Just one is enough. Just one okay?" Zhihao asked with hope dancing in his eyes.

"Oh... O..."

"Okayyy!" Zhihao said excitedly. "Now let's go in." 

Inside the pet store, Zhaolin went around looking for everything Zhihao had mentioned. He threw the packs of every cartoon character Zhihao had mentioned  into the trolley and went to the cas.h.i.+er. He pa.s.sed the cas.h.i.+er the Barbie pack and told him to wrap it alone. She did as told and then packed the rest up.

Zhaolin went up to the two, they were busy watching the kids play a game. "Have it, I got you the Barbie pet." He pa.s.sed it to Qingran. 

She peeped into the bag, pouted then said, "Thank you sir," 

Zhaolin patted her on the head. 

After he paid, they left. Zhaolin carried the big box filled with pets to the booth.

"What are all those?" Zhihao asked pointing at the box.

"A box of pets," he whispered and it made Zhihao giggle.

"I don't want them," Zhihao whispered too.

"Who said it's meant for you?" Zhaolin raised an eyebrow and Zhihao frowned. Then as if he thought of something he smiled and went to seat with Qingran.

It had been one hour since the school closed, s.h.i.+huan had gone over to pick Qingran up but he didn't find her, he was told Zhihao had taken her home. He wondered who he was and called the hotel to talk to Xueyan. Xueyan a.s.sured him that it was Jiu and that she would bring her home.

So he went home but now it's been up to one hour and he was pacing to and fro.

At the hotel 

Xueyan was unsettled as well. The cell Zhaolin gave her was in her draw at home or she would have called Jiuwen but another problem is that she had forgotten where she kept the number that Jiuwen had given her.

"I really think we should calm down, Qingran wouldn't have possibly gone missing." Mr Bai tried to calm his wife and son down. Meanwhile he himself was unsettled.

The doorbell rang and the three ran to open it, but it was Yuxi dressed in another outfit... They all noted.

"Why are you back so early and what's with your clothes?" Mrs Bai asked.

"Erhm..." Yuxi didn't know what to say. "But why did you all come to open the door?" She asked as she stepped through the door and suddenly noticed something was off.

"Qingran isn't back yet. I had gone to pick her and was told Zhihao took her home, but she's yet to return." s.h.i.+huan narrated it to Yuxi.

"Who's Zhihao?" Yuxi asked.

"Don't know either," s.h.i.+huan answered.

"Did you call Xueyan? What did she say? Did she say who Zhihao is?"

"She said it's Jiuwen..." The doorbell rang again.

s.h.i.+huan opened it, it was Xueyan.

"I'm done with the days job, I will go look for her myself." Xueyan said.

"But where?" Mr Bai asked. "You don't know anywhere around here. You rarely move around. No no, we should call the police instead." The idea of her going out and getting lost too scared the world out of him. He would probably loose his sanity worrying about the two. 

"Let's do that," Yuxi said and went a head to dial the emergency code.

Mrs Bai made Xueyan sit while she patted her back. She tried her best to be calm. It would be bad if they were all in panic.

After two rings the call went through, "Yes, what's your emergency?"

"We..." The sound of a car engine came to a stop outside.

s.h.i.+huan was the first to react as he rushed to pull the door, Xueyan immediately ran out.

Qingran got down and waved at them but Zhaolin got down as well as Zhihao.

Zhihao forced the bag into her hands and went back into the car. Pretending not to see Qingran's expression.

Zhaolin went around the car and carried the box out, at that instant he saw a figure dash towards the little girl. Instincts kicked in as he immediately dropped the box and took large steps towards Qingran. He was faster and immediately picked the girl up and headed towards the car.

"My ba... Baby," the sobs made Zhaolin stop and he turned to see who it was.

Xueyan was on her knees as her legs weren't able to carry her anymore. She made a hand gestures towards her and Qingran struggled to get down.

Zhaolin dropped the little and she sprinted forward, towards Xueyan.

Qingran ran into her arms and Xueyan sobbed more. She had been pretending to be alright, after waiting for twenty minutes and she didn't arrive, she (Xueyan) had thought that... No... She couldn't possibly think negative. But the way Qingnuan had been flocking around her made her imagine that perhaps Qingnuan had found out about her little princess.

"Are you alright?" Xueyan put the girl at arm's length and examined her.

"Yes mummy," her sharp tone a.s.sured Xueyan.

s.h.i.+huan came out, with a big frown on his face. "Why did you do that, Mr? You really scared all of us. Aish, so you are Zhihao? How do you know our little Ranran? Wait, why did you choose to take her home? Aish... I should tell the school to fire you probably, why would they hire someone like you?" s.h.i.+huan eyed Zhaolin.

Zhaolin said nothing.

At the door, Yuxi still had the phone placed on her ear. "h.e.l.lo? h.e.l.lo? What's your emergency? Are you alright over there? h.e.l.lo?"

"Oh yeh... Yes. I'm fine now. Thank you." And she immediately hung up and ran out. "That's okay, Huan."

"Aish, I was so worried. How can you say it's okay?"

"It really is okay!" Yuxi tried to calm the young man down.
