Never would he thought a year had pa.s.sed. After he returned, Fiona hugged him before chewing him out for being stupid. After that she stole Val away saying the girl is her payment for making her worried.
After that he only saw her two weeks ago, barging into one of Mr. Leo lesson with a cute pink frilly dress and perfectly groomed hair. That of course before she was caught by Fiona and dragged away, all while Val look at him with teary eyes as if begging for him to help... sorry Val but please take one for the team.
It has been a month now since he return, since he met with his teacher he decides to just talk about his plan with him. Turns out his teacher completely support it with the reason all men must have their journey at one point of their life.
Even so, he is only to operate in this town under his supervision until he is of age, which is at 14 years old.
During this time, Mr. Leo had taught him more recipes and also fix many parts of the alchemy books Vayne has with a more cost-efficient and more effective processing methods.
Since he wants to be an adventurer Mr. Leo also gave him more combat training, so he can adapt to many situations, especially ambushes and surprise attacks... which is also implied in their daily life such as his teacher bursting out of the bathtub and slap his b.u.m or him waking up hanging upside down in his room completely naked or his clothes magically disappear when he's not looking.
With the constant hara.s.sment, his Alertness and Hiding skill had evolve into Intuition and Fade respectively.
Fade is a skill that thin out his existence, making others pay less attention to himself and making him harder to notice. As for intuition, it basically enchants his senses towards danger with a chance of guarding against it before his mind process it.
"Pardon me." Vayne said, pus.h.i.+ng the big wooden double doors open.
"Ah yes, how may I help you young one?" The priest asked from the podium.
Yes, today he came to the church. Not for any religious activity or anything of that nature but to make use of something called identification crystal inside.
After explaining his reason, the priest help him through the process of registering his ident.i.ty. In this world all children will go through baptism and registration at 8 years old, but at rare cases where they are out of town or sick, they can come anytime to the nearest church to register with no cost.
The record then will be kept within the world leyline and spread to every other crystal in the world.
After he is done, he made his way to the alchemist guild. He will register as an alchemist then help out at the shop. It was not in his plans but there is actually an 14 of age restriction for joining the adventurers guild so all he could do is join the alchemist guild at the moment.
The place look like a modern governmental building with a total of 3 floors and are made out of stone bricks. Unlike his expectations no one paid him attention or glare hostilely at him like novels he read in the past and after waiting in line for an hour, the registration was completed without problem.
There were some other kids his age or slightly older doing the same as him so maybe children registering isn't much of a rare occurrence in this world.
He didn't linger long and head straight back, along the way he read the handbook he received after registering. It explains about the hierarchy within the guild as well the privilege and benefits one gain as they climb it.
The lowest one are the new recruits, they are called lier. Lier are allowed to use the 1st floor facility of the guild lab as well as access their library 1st floor but whatever they research will be done by themselves, and they need to provide their own materials.
The second tier are called freir. Although restricted to the 1st floor like Lier, they are granted access to some low cla.s.sed materials from the guild and they could take on E to D cla.s.s requests from the bulletin board in the guild.
The third tier are called Crain. They are allowed access to the 2nd floor and some uncommon materials as well as C to B cla.s.s requests.
The fourth are called Chemist. They are allowed access to the 3rd floors and rare materials and A cla.s.s requests, but the biggest benefits would be the exemption of taxes for their business.
There are higher tier ones but those are more for the official personnel within the guild and are rather binding, so they are not important to him.
To raise one rank, there will be an exam every year at 15th to 20th Sephri. One will be tasked to make something based on the tier one chosen, and they have half a year to finish it. The finished product then will be graded and the results will determine whether you can pa.s.s or not.
The handbook also explain unimportant details such as the goal of alchemy and the history behind it, so he just glances through them before closing the book.
As he walked he then thought about the old magician, that guy gave him a bad feeling, and he kept on looking at him and his teacher with suspicion until the day he and others two old dudes left town.
He had also used the small bag he got, it given him a pa.s.sive skill called items. Not the best of names but it works. The skill give him 40 inventory slots without weight or size restrictions but every use of it cost a bit of Mana and there are slight delay when storing or taking out an item unlike the instantaneous inventory.
Back then, all he had to do was drip his blood on the bag gem and the bag turn into light and entered him.
It took a few more minutes of walking before he reaches the shop, when he entered it he froze for a second before side stepping a projectile pa.s.sing by him.
Well, not a projectile exactly but Val jumping at him. The girl is wearing an outfit that make her look a lot like a magical girl, it really matches with her silvery white hair and gave her a bit of an innocent charm.
The girl quickly got back to her feet before turning to him with a pout, chuckling slightly, he takes out a handkerchief and clean the dirt off her dress and face.
Both then enter the shop with Val hiding behind him, looking around cautiously.
"Oh you're back and I see you've caught the kitten for me." Fiona said as she came out of the back room with a cat pajamas in hand and Val quickly use me to s.h.i.+eld her from the lady.
"Why are you scared, come on you will look so cute in it." She coaxed as she moves closer to us.
I know right now I should tell her off and gave Val a peace of mind but... I myself am curious to see her in a cat outfit.

Probably sensing my thoughts, Val took a few steps back before turning to dash out but I caught her hand first before she could.
"Come on, it'll be over soon. I'll make it up by making you some sweets later." I told her as I drag her into the back room with Fiona along.
Later that day, Val bit Vayne and stop talking to him for a whole week.
