Bellow of smokes rise from various locations within the capital before it was erased by the raging hurricane.
Many buildings are in ruins while others are burning with magical black flames. all around them are people, either fighting with crazed fervor or bleeding on the ground.
The people consisting of civilian, adventures, and even knights hurt and kill one another with anything they could use as weapons or just their bare hands. not stopping to even heal their bleeding wounds until they draw their last breath.
Among the chaotic capital, a small area in the western district are relatively safe. protected by an encirclement of earthen wall, people with the banner of a mole hugging a gold bar are standing on top of it while firing spells and arrows to anyone that tried to damage the walls.
Among the people on the wall, one person catches the most attention as he stood there merely observing the people below.
"Hey pops, what's on your mind?" asked a brown haired child that come up next to him.
"It's nothing, just lamenting how this is outside my expectations." looking at the bodies that starts to pile below them as well as the unending wave of people rus.h.i.+ng to their deaths, the man had a solemn look while the boy had a downcast expression.
"Is there no way to save them?" the boy ask with slight hope in his voice but contrary to his expectation, the man replied in a neutral tone.
"There is no way of knowing as we haven't tried any method yet but with how violent they've become, I doubt I would send anyone to try an capture one." he said with a shrug before pointing into the distance, "Besides, I don't really want to try anything with that man watching us."
Following where the man pointing, the boy look up above the crater that used to be where the castle is. Looking at the small figure suspended in the air, he couldn't help but remember what happened hours ago.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
A few hours ago..
In a dark room underground a group of hooded people circle over an altar, singing an incomprehensible chant. In the center, a man in expensive clothing stood near the altar along with four hooded figures that are holding down a boy as they prepare him for what's about to come.
"Royal father, please stop! aren't I your son?!" the boy bellows to his father the king as he is being tied down on the altar.
"My child, Caesar, in order for me to have the sole control of whatever that will be summoned a royal blood is needed. Originally I plan to sacrifice your good for nothing brother but it is just your luck that you stumble upon this secret." the man said as he step closer to the altar with a ritual knife in hand, the four figures long back away after tying the boy.
"if you want to blame anyone, then blame your curious self. goodbye my child and rejoice as your death will serve a greater purpose."
Without any hesitation the man plunge the knife into the boys chest, making him jerk and gasp in pain. Before he breath his last, the boy look at his father as if asking 'why, why did he do this?' as a single tear escape his eyes.
Twisting the blade he squishes more blood out from the wound before letting it go and step away from the altar.
As he steps back, the dim light of the torches illuminate his face. He has a wide grin on his face and in his eyes, there are no remorse from killing his own flesh and blood but only excitement. excitement over the idea of what is to come, excitement over the idea of unimaginable power, excitement of being the sole ruler of the land.
At the altar, as soon as the boy's blood touches the blood drenched engraving on the ground it s.h.i.+nes with a dark red glow as the cultists around it chant with increasing fervor.
Soon the light become too bright for anyone to see, causing the chant to stop as the everyone cover their eyes.
After the light subdued, a young man with some kind of intricate magician robe could be seen stood next to the altar with his eyes closed. He have hair that seem to be made out of silver with two horns protruding out the side of his head, his pale white skin is a contrast to his black clothing and the serpentine staff in his hand.
Words of congratulatory and fawning praises are being given by those around him but he couldn't feel happy about it, the man in front of him give him a sense of dread as if he should run out of here as fast as his feet can take him but ignoring his intuition, he take a step closer and call out to the young man.
Before he could actually speak, the young man snap his eyes open. His eyes are a color darker than the night sky with his slit golden irises are enchanted by his sharp and handsome features make a single glance from him send s.h.i.+vers down his spine.
With a tap of his staff, all the noises made by the people around them suddenly ceases and the man look at him and said one word, "Speak."
The king, hearing that, couldn't help but grow even more excited. Not because the man could speak his language but because of the show of power he just made. It is not that everyone stop speaking, it is because they can't speak as they has been turn to dust.
"I am Sherman Oaks Vi Welsburg, the king of Welsburg and the one who will rule all th-" as he was speaking, he suddenly clutches his throat as he suddenly lose the ability to breathe.
When he feel faint and fell to his knees, he is surprised the man are already in front of him and suddenly grabbing his face. He could feel something run through him before he hear the man talk to himself.
"Hou~ enslaving summoning ritual, it is a shame such things have no effect on me. but how peculiar just as my people lack mana to consume, someone come and serve their world on a silver platter." he said with a chuckle.
"No matter once I consume this appetizer I could tab more into my full power. Once I harvest enough I will be able to bring my people over."
Sherman couldn't understand what the man is talking about but that's the last of his worries. Be it the lack of air or the tightening grip on his face, both are giving him excruciating pain.
Before long, Sherman's hand fell limply at his side as his head had cave in. it did not stop there as his corpse soon dried up, making it look as if he has died for ages.
"Now then, I better go and prepare today's main dish." he said as he discarded the body.
Tapping his staff, a black light covered the whole area.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
"Do you have any idea who it might be?" Elea ask as he stare at the plain looking silver coin in his hand.
"Nope, no idea at all. But if Mom says she trust him then I do as well." Lucas said as he twirl his own over his fingers.
"Again with the unconditional trust, you should really fix that. not everyone is good you know." He said, giving Lucas a concerned look.
"I know that but that's why I got you right, you being the cautious one while I'm the laid-back and carefree guy." Lucas replied with a grin.
"Ugh, whatever. Just don't get yourself in trouble that I can't clean up." Elea said while rubbing his forehead.
The two keep bantering about random topics as they walk around the town. it is a beautiful sunny day after awhile and they as well as many others enjoy with taking a walk outside.
They just barely got back to the western district when the sky rapidly turn darker. Elea look up to it and was about to say something when suddenly, a pillar of black flame burst from the center of the city. engulfing the castle whole before it suddenly explode.
The shockwave of the explosion knock many people along with them down to the ground and tear many stands apart.
When they got back up, the duo were shock at what they see and Lucas couldn't help but mutter.
"Holy crab, the Illuminati has come."
