From start to finish, it had only been a few weeks and yet so much was different now. Laz felt like she really was amazing in her own way. A woman like her who was wild and carefree, yet had a certain warmth about her. And one h.e.l.l of a hot body to top it all off. What more could a guy ask for? Strangely, Laz thought that if he was to ever get married, it would be to a girl like Kat.
Of course, he wasn't thinking about getting married. But seeing her in those tight shorts with her firm and yet full a.s.s was enough to make any man think about spending a lifetime with the owner of it.
On the other hand, maybe it had to do with how she took care of him as well. Even though Jon had taught him a few things, it was pretty much Kat, morning, noon and night. Laz never really thought he would get as attached to her as he did.
In the end, he knew he had to say goodbye though. This whole thing was only temporary anyway. Even if he wished it were otherwise, it wasn't going to happen. Laz might have been a bit emotional about this, but he wasn't going to show it. He had learned how to keep his emotions in check, starting back from the day he was dropped off on his grandpa's doorstep. Some kids learn these things early. The lucky ones don't have to figure it out till much later.
"Ah, you're awake eh?"
"Yeah."
"I thought I would have to come and get you like always." Kat said while putting a large covered pan in the oven.
"There we go."
"What was that?" Laz asked. He'd never really watched someone cook before, so he actually had a lot of questions.
"The turkey," Kat replied with a proud look on her face.
"You look pretty happy today," Laz couldn't help but point out.
"HA. OF COURSE I AM!" Kat practically screamed while smiling.
"And why is that?"
"Cause I can finally cook for someone who might actually appreciate my food. All my dad ever does it say it's good. That's it. 'IT'S GOOD?' Not even a bit of elaboration? Just good?"
Laz subconsciously posted a note in his head to make sure to say anything other than 'it's good,' even if he was lying through his teeth.
Kat decided to take out some of her aggression by chopping up some vegetables with an overly large butcher's knife. After a few minutes, a large pile of carrots and celery, and a few new deep imprints into the bamboo cutting board, Kat raised her head to see Laz still looking at her and barely moving. In fact, Laz was slightly hesitant too move, thinking about what would happen if she decided to go after something other than a carrot.
"Yes?" Kat asked while lowering the knife.
"Br... breakfast?" Laz finally stuttered out after a moment.
"Breakfast? What? Oh.. OH!" Kat turned around and walked over to a cupboard, pulling out a jar of some white powder before grabbing a cup and a pitcher of water.
"Here protein shake. Keep your appet.i.te for dinner, ok?"
"Yeah. Yes. I can't wait!" Although Laz had other thoughts in his head, he kept them to himself. No matter what, he wanted to enjoy the few days he had left.
"Good. Drink up!" Kat turned back around while grabbing some bread and ripping it apart. Laz didn't want to interrupt so after making the shake, he tried to figure out something to do.
Just as he was getting ready to escape, Kat's spirit communication met Laz before he could escape.
*Dad hasn't contacted me yet.*
*Is that not normal?* Laz couldn't help but ask. According to everything she had said so far, this whole him going away thing was pretty normal and regular.
*It's not normal that he wouldn't even send me a text.* Laz couldn't help but notice she had been sending these messages to him but didn't turn around once. He felt like maybe she was trying to avoid making eye contact with him while saying all this. Laz figured out that it was probably due to her not wanting to share the true depth of her worry with him.
Without thinking much, Laz walked back from the doorway and came behind Kat, then he reached up and wrapped his arms around her neck. Even though he was a bit shorter than her, it wasn't by too much so it wasn't really a strain for either of them.
At first, Laz felt Kat's body become tense, but after holding her for a minute, he felt her relax. Neither spoke, just enjoying the momentary warmth of body contact. After feeling her go a bit softer than she was before, Laz released his hug and again made for the door. This time, he didn't stop as he went downstairs to the dojo to do some warm up exercises. Sometimes, words just were't needed.
'He's way to mature for his age,' Kat couldn't help but think. For a young man like him to know that all she needed was some support felt way too unreal. Even many adult men didn't understand that concept, thinking that women always complained and needed someone else to make decisions for them, when in truth, they just needed to know that someone supported them.
'GGGGRRRR.... why can't their be any older guys like him. Or better yet, it won't take long for him to grow up... couple years at most? He already looks 18 ish. I can imagine that in about 3 years he will look 20? Hmm... that wouldn't be bad in the least...' Kat couldn't help but start coming up with various episodes in her head.
Laz, who had just gotten downstairs with his shake, quickly went to work, lifting weights and practicing hits with one of the dummy's.
'Glad she didn't realize that I had gotten a b.o.n.e.r, or that whole scene would have been ruined, and possibly even me.' Laz shuttered a bit when thinking about how she would have reacted while she was already upset.
...
Dinner came quickly enough. Although Laz had offered to help at various times, he was strictly rejected each time. Since Kat's mood seemed to have improved, Laz just let it be. When it came time to eat, he couldn't help but wonder what all the food was in front of him. As Kat took the time to make him a plate, telling him he should try a little of everything, Laz seriously pondered what they would do with all the food since there was no way they could eat it all. Even if Jon came back suddenly, there was going to be lots of leftovers.
"Leftovers are a part of thanksgiving. What's the point in making so much food that can only be enjoyed one day?" Kat told Laz when he made mention of it. He really didn't want her to do too much for him as he felt a little bad by it, but seeing her being energetic about it put his mind at ease.
"And dinner wouldn't be dinner without wine!" With that, Kat went over to a cupboard and pulled out a few gla.s.ses. Then she headed over to a small wine fridge that was hidden in the corner of the kitchen and started pulling out bottles of wine. After looking all of them over a couple times, Kat shrugged her shoulders and just brought over four bottles. Without taking a second look at the gla.s.ses, she popped the cork of two of them, handed one to Laz while taking the other for herself.
"To the best student I could have ever hoped for!" Kat raised her bottle up in salute to Laz.
"Uhh..."
"Make a toast of your own! Whatever comes to mind..." Kat encouraged.
"To the s.e.xy woman who kicked my a.s.s for the past few weeks!" Laz raised his bottle as well to Kat while she laughed at his toast.
"Fair enough. DRINK!" Kat raised the bottle to her lips and started gulping back the wine without stop. Not wanting to lose out, Laz started drinking his as well. The spicy scent along with the warm taste was quite intoxicating. Laz couldn't help but go a little slower to savor the flavor as it went down. He felt like the wine tasted much better compared to the whiskey he had before.
"Whew, tasty." Kat brought down her bottle after the whole thing was finished. Laz finished shortly after her and both sat down to enjoy the food, but not before she uncorked the other two bottles and pa.s.sed one to Laz.
As they ate, the continued to open and enjoy more bottles of wine. The food itself was delicious, with the cla.s.sics like turkey, stuffing and potatoes along with various vegetable dishes that Kat and prepared, it served for a very colorful meal.
As the wine and food quickly kept disappearing, Kat and Laz talked more and more about their lives. Laz explained how he had come to live with his grandpa after basically being dropped off by his parents and how he hadn't heard from either of them since. Kat explained how he mom had died when she was young and how she had been raised by her dad. The more they talked and laughed and drank, the closer they started sitting next to each other. And the stories became more and more crazy.
"Soo wwwwait... you 'ave a dog that understands wwwhat you say...?" Kat's words were very slurred at this point.
"Yep... she's a volf... wov... wolf..." Laz wasn't doing much better.
"HA ha aha ha ha ahaha.... yeah right. I.. I... I'm m bit runk... but hat still ounds cccrrraaazzyyyyy." Kat replied while leaning against Laz. He chair was right next to his at this point, so much so that they were leaning next to each other to remain upright. 12 empty bottles of wine laid forgotten on the table while two more were currently being consumed.
"It true.... onest!" Laz said while looking at Kat. He cheeks were flushed and her entire body seemed to be giving off heat, leaving a much more pleasant smell in Laz's nose compared to the food.
Kat took one more big swig of wine before setting down the bottle and looking at the young man next to her. Visions of her various thoughts from earlier in the day flashed into her wine laced mind while her eyes got a little bright. Just as Laz was about to take another drink, he felt Kat lean onto his arm. She brought her head up to his ear and gently whispered,
"Hey cutie. Want to do me a favor?" Kat blinked a few times and put on a set of pouty lips.
Thinking she was just messing with him, Laz looked back at her bright eyes and said, "Your wish is my command."
"Can you stuff this turkey?"
