"Sergeant Connell, what are the recruits' rules?" Steve stood up and asked.
Sergeant Connell gazed playfully at the recruits below, then replied, "Today's program shall allow the veterans and recruits to get along well in the future. In the army, we believe only in strength and in the comrades around us. Hence, fighting is vital."
The recruits were instantly agitated by his words, many of them commenting at once.
"That's not fair! How can our strength match the veterans?"
"The veterans have been in the army for at least a year, so most of them are already original beings. We can't possibly match them!"
"This is so unfair!"
The overall strength of the veterans was naturally much higher than the recruits'. Since the army had so many resources at its disposal, as long as they were not completely talentless, any soldier could become an original being within a year.
Currently, as most of the recruits' levels of cell activation were only around 50%, the difference between their strengths and the veteran soldiers' strength was too big. Even Steve and Stuart were no match for the veterans!
"You can rest a.s.sured that our veterans will not take advantage of you. Besides, there are 5,000 of you here and only 1,000 of us!" Sergeant Connell laughed and said. "That means one against five! That should be fair enough!"
The recruits calmed down a little, but many were still talking about it.
"If you think that's not fair, then we still have one more rule to tell you about." Sergeant Connell smiled slyly. "Both sides shall nominate five people to battle. They battle will be split into five rounds, and will be one-on-one combat. As long as you win at least one out of the five rounds, we'll reduce our veteran ranks by 100 people. On the other hand, if you lose a round, the veterans will increase by 100."
The recruits were abuzz, many of them turning instantly towards Steve and Stuart, especially Steve, as he had three out of five of the top five geniuses beside him.
"Mr. Steve, do we accept these battle terms, throwing our hats in the ring to fight?" Andrew asked. He was ranked fifth in the ranking battle. Thus, he was the most likely to be sent to fight.
At that moment, the top ten in the ranking battle, including Stuart, had just walked towards Steve to discuss this huge decision. All of the other recruits were looking towards Steve and the others as well, knowing that their fates rested in their hands.

"I think these five battles must be fought!" Steve insisted.
"How should we fight them? Can you beat them?" Stuart sneered. "Even the weakest among them are already original beings!"
The top ten were silent. They also felt some doubt, even though their levels of cell activation had already exceeded 80%, especially Stuart's, Sofia's, and the others', which had already exceeded 90%.
Adding to their doubts was the fact that the veterans had experienced blood-soaked battlefields, which only served to make them far better than them in terms of battle experience. This circ.u.mstance alone made at least half of the recruits choose not to accept the challenge.
"Naturally, we won't be able to win," Andrew said straightforwardly.
"Yeah, we can't even defeat 100 of them. What's the difference if they had 500 more? We'll still be beaten regardless!" Steve laughed and said. "Why not just take a gamble? If we win and the number of people gets reduced, maybe we'll have a chance to defeat them. If we lose, at least we would have tried."
This basic logic stunned many of the recruits instantly. After hearing his words, Alan nodded, then said, "I think what Steve has just said is reasonable!"
"I also agree with Steve's decision!"
"Yes! Why not accept their challenges?"
"I agree!"
"I agree, too!"
After a while, most of the recruits had agreed with Steve's a.s.sertion. In fact, 90% were now behind him.
Steve became revered as the chosen leader by the vast majority of people. Upon seeing this, Stuart's face became stormy, his eyes full of jealousy.
Originally, he was the leader of the recruits. Now, Steve had robbed him of his position!
"Okay, let us vote! Those who agree to accept the challenge, say yes! Those who do not agree, say no." Steve turned on the smart bracelet and sent an email to everyone to use for a secret e-vote.

Victory is determined when one of you knocks down your opponent or when your opponent concedes defeat."
