"Is there such a thing? Why did I not know? "Steve whispered in Elizabeth's ear.

"He's always pestering me. Help me to block him." Elizabeth blushed.

Seeing their intimate behavior towards each other, the crowd felt that Steve and Elizabeth shared a very close relations.h.i.+p. Raven lost his composure and the smile on his face got more distorted. He then asked, "Haha, I've never heard of you, Mr. Steve. Are you a college student?"

To Raven, Steve was dressed much too ordinary to be a superior person. Besides, Raven knew all of the big shots in Stanlos Base Camp, and Steve certainly wasn't one of them.

The people who were watching them laughed at Raven's mocking Steve. Raven's face showed a disdainful look. With his ident.i.ty and the high status of his family in the Stanlos Base Camp, he had many ways of intimidating Steve.

"I am a pharmacist." Steve smiled and pulled out the F-grade pharmacist badge and hung it on his chest.

Everyone was surprised when they saw the pharmacist badge on Steve's chest. He really did not match the typical look of a n.o.ble pharmacist! Moreover, pharmacists would usually wear their pharmacist uniform to show their ident.i.ties.

Raven's face suddenly changed, his disdainful smile becoming stiff and awkward. The Charlie family was a knight-level n.o.ble family within the Stanlos Base Camp. This meant that, although they had special privileges, they were still considered to be only minor n.o.bles.

So, in the presence of a n.o.ble pharmacist, even his father, the chief of the Charlie family, had to be respectful. As for Raven, he was only one of the heirs. Hence, his status was far inferior to a pharmacist.

"So, you are a pharmacist. In that case, it seems that I was reckless just now, Mr. Steve. Please forgive me." Raven had a forceful smile on his face as he bent over to apologize.

Luckily for Raven, Steve did not take his mockery to heart. After all, Steve refused to be bothered by a small kid like Raven. In his eyes, Raven was just a reckless little brat, who had gotten carried away by love.

"Elizabeth is already my fiancée and I don't want anyone to bother her," said Steve, while putting his arm around Elizabeth's shoulders and pulling her into an embrace, clearly a move declaring his sovereignty over her.

"Oh, you can rest a.s.sured that no one will ever bother Miss Elizabeth again," Raven said with an awkward smile. He then turned and walked away abruptly.

Selma, who was standing off to the side, stared at Steve. Her eyes looked as if they were fixed on prey. She looked at Elizabeth with a grin and thought to herself..

If I were to s.n.a.t.c.h away Elizabeth's fiancé, that would be a huge blow to her.

After all, Steve is already a pharmacist, so his future is promising…

"Miss, it would be a great help to the Joseph family if you can capture his heart," said the middle-aged man, who stood next to Selma.

His name was Lauren, and he was Selma's chief bodyguard. He had accompanied her because not every parent in a family had time to partic.i.p.ate in the Magical Beasts Hunting Convention, even though it was a parent-child event. Therefore, subst.i.tute chaperones were permitted to ensure the safety of students.

Selma flashed a smile. She hatched an idea in her mind on how to s.n.a.t.c.h Steve from Elizabeth and make Elizabeth suffer.

Soon, more than 10,000 students from more than 20 high schools had arrived. There were a total of about 20,000 to 30,000 people there, including the accompanying parents.

Subsequently, the leader from the Education Department began to speak on the stage. "The Magical Beasts Hunting Convention will be held over four days. The objective of this convention is to train students to have the courage to face magical beasts and equip them with the necessary skills to hunt these beasts. During the compet.i.tion, parents were not allowed to partic.i.p.ate in the killings. They were only allowed to help lure the magical beasts to the students, teach them how to avoid danger, give them tips on how to fight and so on.

Only when faced with a life-threatening situation, would the accompanying parent be allowed to take action to rescue the student. However, this interference would still disqualify the student from the compet.i.tion.

This was also a test of the students' resilience and combat fighting skills. After all, if the accompanying parent was ordinarily allowed to help, it would defeat the purpose of the training!

There was a large mountain range on the outskirts of the Stanlos Base Camp, a part of which was divided into a safe area for the Hunting Convention. Countless flight monitoring devices had been placed within the area to ensure the safety of the students and the parents as much as possible.

Of course, it was not 100 percent safe. The Dolan Mountain was vast and filled with magical beasts. As such, accidents happened all the time.

After the rules of the game were explained, the school began to organize the students in batches. They would enter the hunting grounds in these small groups.

"Once you step out of this circle, you will be out from under of the protection of the base camp. Even if though the school has taken precautions, there will inevitably be accidents. Now is the time for you to decide whether to move forward or not. Again, once you are out of the protective circle, you will be entirely on your own." The teacher gave issued a final warning.

The light tower then emitted a defensive ring that echoed throughout the entire Stanlos Base Camp. All of the area within the sound of this defensive ring was officially cla.s.sified as the safe zone.

"Let's go. I'll be right beside you," said Steve. He then took Elizabeth's hand and stepped out of the ring.

Elizabeth smiled. As long as Steve was there, she was not afraid of anything.

A short distance away, Selma stepped out of the defensive ring as well, then hastily followed the two of them.

Around noon, Steve and Elizabeth had reached the depths of the hunting grounds. As the 20,000 to 30,000 people who were gathered in the vast hunting grounds were akin to a stone that was thrown into the sea, it was rare to b.u.mp into anyone else. Hence, they had seen no one on their journey thus far.

A chilly gust of wind blew over from the mountains. It was so cold, goose b.u.mps formed on both of their skins almost immediately. Occasionally, the roar of magical beasts could be heard from the distant forest in the mountains.

"You've followed us for so long. It's time for you to come out!" said Steve, as he suddenly stopped walking for no apparent reason.

Elizabeth did not know who Steve was talking to, but she became more wary, immediately leaning closer to him.

"Haha, Lord Steve, we mean you no harm!" A faint laughter was heard, just before Selma and Lauren appeared from behind them. It was Lauren who had spoken.
